Many years ago when I was a inflight manitenance technican on the Airborne Command Post (the airplane with the keys to launch the nukes) because of the mission of the aircraft we had some priorities with things. We sitting in the alert bunker a plan was hatched and the maintenance and radio operators went out to the aircraft fired up the radios and started calling remote bases, camps and forts and asked if they would like to place a call home. This was before Facebook, moral call and the like. Bring some Chritsmas joy to families a minutes at a time. Most likly the best Christmas I spent away from the family.

Evening rant!!

Went to a military retirement ceremony for a guy that I supervised many years ago when I was in (I sure hope this isn't making me old). Good to see many of the younger guys from when I retired an man so many new faces, I wondered if their mothers knew that they had gotten out of the house. But back to the rant: why in the world for a military retirement would you need to print the words to the Nation Anthem  in the program? 99% of the members are or had been military. The guy that was retiring wife and kids are the only ones that I knew had not been in the military. If you are going to defend this country I would think you could sign he first verse of our National anthem (I won't start on athletes especially Olympic ones) maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy

Spent the day working on the stepson (none working, none going to school money sucker) spun to rod bearings and jack up the rest of them. Guess what you can't remove the flywheel in a 2.7 dodge charger with out removing the engine!

They inserted at night and once it started to get light they saw that they where expossed so the fell back to find a better place to set up and found what they thought was a safe place between an old mud hut and a almost 90 deg cliff. they set a primater but most of it towards the hut away from the cilff. Well those people came up the cliff and started firing killing 3. One of the soilder was able employ a morter on the bad guys as they went back down the cliff killing all of them. The other soilders told us that Bret was killed instantly. They told us that it was a 1 in a million hit, went in under his arm traveled through the chest and missed the body armor completely. Bret was able to save one of his soilders the week before his death when the soilder was hit in the arm during a fire fight. We draw peace from knowing that he didn't suffer, he was doing what he loved and he knew Jesus and is home with him now. Thank for your service I will look for your book and give it a read.

My step son Oklahoma Army National Guard was also a fire fighter and 911 dispatcher when not called up. He was killed  9 September 2011, after 6 years we don't understand why it is hitting us hard this year just know that the Lord has gotten us this far and He will take us the rest of the way.

Do you know where he was in Afghanistan? Name of the FOB? Location? RC SOUTH or east? OR? What unit was he in?

I was there until June of 2010 flying all over RC South and East, some missions over to RC West...

Bret was part of the 1st Battalion, 279 Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade he was killed Zurmat District, Paktya province sorry but can't remember the name of the FOB he was at

We are studying Romans this year. The best thing about the classcomes from being one of the leaders and have 75 other men praying for you is just wonderful

Just wondering if any of you are a member of a Bible fellowship class? I have done a few of the classes (1 book of the bible for a school year) and now habe become a discussion group leader.

1958 was a good year. Yep still see the 135 sometimes over here by TAFB. Mostly the spook conversion though.

Yes Steve, Charles here heads up the support group for SQ D addictions/withdrawl. People like Ken hang around in this group as in general they like the idea of sharing their feelings. I believe he often vents about H losing the election too totally misdirecting the whole meeting. Pretty sure JR is attending as well due to his current residence of southern Cali and well you just have to attend these type of groups if you live in that state. Not sure who else resides in this group as I refuse to take the time to evaluate the group as a whole. These are just the rumors I have heard as of late...........

I got hooked on square D on another forum and followed it over here (maybe Flyin6 also). I a Duramax crew cab and mainly wanting to keep it as drive-able as possible and be able to make sure if somethings happens I can make it to family and to a safe place. 24 years in the Air Force turning wrenches on airplanes and now working there again but trying to find parts for a 60 year old airplane.
