Cold weather bags still need you to wear layers. Trick for camping I use is a pee bottle, don't have to trudge outside but not good for sharing tents.

Well. Hopefully got the coolant leak fixed.

The o ring at the oil cooler was also not part of the complete gasket set.
The one I used was from my generic set.
It was not at all damaged or deformed.
It was a titch small. .050-.060” if I were to guess.

A set we have at work was way more bigger. And another in between.

The in between was the winner.
My buddy Kyle has a massive pressure/vacuum kit.
I’m keeping it while I go hunting and am going to get one.
It’s save my butt every time an o ring has it me.

So long story longer, after 5 trips on and off to the water pump the dag-gone thing held pressure.

So topped back up and back on the road.
I hope I’m done.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

I have to question the mechanicing abilities of one who chooses an axe as a tool of choice when working on a motorized vehicle

I left that there just for you, or Shawn. Guess he was slow on that one.
Was using it as a hammer tbh. All I have at home is waffle framing hammers.
Lot of good it did working late yesterday. Throttle stuck on fire up and blew the seals out of the injection pump. Made quite the mess but hopefully the engine is ok

Shawn, the answer is no.
....unless you're being sincere and in that case, I plan on using it to carpool.

Good luck with that Jon.

Little slow today, sorry. Just realized you’ll use this to haul your gf around so I suppose they’ll let you use the carpool lane after all.

Went for an over night up on the western mountains here. This kind of view is what we had while driving to the campground, when the trees would disappear for a moment.

That is much of the north shore of Oahu.

Off white tail chasin.
I guess the truck gets tested now.
850 or so miles to get out.

I bought this for the shop today. Going to clean excursion up and send it down the road. Difference in fuel mileage should pay for this I figure.

How small is that thing? Excursion would be a nice rolling add.

JR, one I bought is the long wheel base version (gotta be able to toss a couple axles in the back) & it’s just shy of 16’ overall. Fairly well spec’d xl stripped down version work van. Only thing it didn’t have I wanted was cruise. It’s a $350 aftermarket add on to these. Excursion is a project and I’m downsizing projects currently so ex was first to go as it’s my daily. I’m too busy to be wrenching on a daily now, less time than I had two years ago.

Nice Shawn just curious. Why a van and not a bed?  Seems axles will be harder to load

I have a truck which should be done in the spring. I like the excursion for hauling stuff and keeping it dry. Basically use the ex like a van, second row folded down and rear third pulled out. Our dirt bikes will easily load in rear of this van too.

I can attest to what fit in the back of the excursion. Probably only got 5mpg on that trip home.

Most likely yes, which was biggest motivating factor. Not paying so much in fuel will pay for van.

On another note, one thing you need to consider is I buy axles from lots of people. Yes, I hsve suppliers who I buy in bulk from but the best deals are sometimes “hey I need this gone ads”. Many of those do not have a way to load. In the past I used the low deck trailer and have drug many up the tailgate into place. Did it just last week in fact. This was the reason I’ll have a crane on the flat bed. Now I haven’t even taken delivery of van but should in next day or so. I have half a dozen winches laying around. I’m thinking of building an aluminum 1/4” thick tray if you will for the cargo area. Possibly mount a winch up front and a flip down ramp at rear. Back up and winch them into the van. Need to see what I’m working with but could be an option.

Never been over there. How was it dealing with the shots/tests and such to get into the island? If your stuck on Oahu let me know I’ll come get ya!

All, the view was pretty cool. Crazy to be on an island with over a million people and still able to find an escape of sorts.

We picked up an auction of mil surplus boxes today to use to re-make our camping and chuck box…. That we thought wouldn’t be needed and left it in storage else where.

I put the garage in winter mode, the last week temps have got down to not warm in the morning and Iv been driving the car to save on fuel, dirty truck mess and simply don’t care if the Jetta gets destroyed.

Cleaned off mobile benches, finished cut up the metal pieces for a storm drain ( need to fill my gas bottle to finish weld ) for a friend, swept up and laid down a new piece of toss away carpet to the drink fridge, pulled the cars and truck in.

One of my new 8” stack was falling off. Poor clamp design so I pulled the Pete in and greased and re assembled the passenger side stack.  Built a metal bracket to hold the Y pipe to the frame instead of it hanging on for dear life as I scream down the highway

It took me about 5 hrs, but i have finally installed my garage heater.

I basically spent the majority of the time going up and down different ladders, crawling through the garage attic, and fighting 6/3 wire.

My garage is just under what this one is rated for....https://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/heaters/electric-garage-heaters/king-electric-240v-heavy-duty-digital-forced-air-electric-garage-heater/kb2410-1-b2-eco/p-1461692447430.htm

My experience with garage heaters is they underrate them or I’m just of the mindset if I can get it over 60 degrees and I’m working It’s gtg.

Came home to all back splashes demoed to the studs. I hate demo and these guys demoed and cleaned up and I get to just build.

More backsplash than I’ve ever done. Kitchen, pantry, butlers pantry, wine room and wet bar. So I hope the wife picks a larger tile so I’m not placing 3 inch tiles for weeks

Going to reconfigure the electrical outlets and upgrade the under cabinet lights from halogen to led while I’m there.

Then over winter break the painters will paint the entire inside. Walls cabinets trim and ceiling.

We increased the temp in ours last year, year one in the house I set it at 50 and the gas bill didn’t budge, I turned it up to 60 and it went up about $10 bucks a month.  I figured I’ll take the extra heat for $10 and consider I spend more on a happy meal.
This yea might be very different as cost of everything is racing to my wallet

My garage is just under what this one is rated for....https://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/heaters/electric-garage-heaters/king-electric-240v-heavy-duty-digital-forced-air-electric-garage-heater/kb2410-1-b2-eco/p-1461692447430.htm

My experience with garage heaters is they underrate them or I’m just of the mindset if I can get it over 60 degrees and I’m working It’s gtg.

55 is about the hottest i like to work in.....all those years of being forced to work in temps of hell have made me appreciate COLD AC and colder temps?

Yeah, my garage is already insulated and this will be run at about 45-50 degs.....just enough to keep some of wendys plants from freezing and allow our vehicles to defrost.

I like my heated garage as well.
I’m more in the 60-65 range tho.

On a positive note sonny boy can shoot straight.
Tonight he placed a well aimed shoulder hit on a good sized flat top.
We have one more doe tag but I think we’re done. Three is a lot and I still have caribou.

100 miles on odometer and I had them put a new set of cooper snow tires on the shop van this morning.

Hitch came in from e trailer for it as well today, I’ll bolt that on tomorrow. Yes, I realize a 2k towing capacity isn’t much but at least if I need it for something light I’ll have it and I can add a rear bumper guard er roof access step / pulling point in case I get stuck which is a genuine possibility.

Well, those pumps are supposed to pump ANYTHING and looks like it has!

Get one of those swing out cranes and put a mount on the trailer and make a hitch adapter.

Looks like it was pumping grease! Lol. Not.
That is a mess.

I have become a believer in snow tires for certain applications.

Deer all cut wrapped ground and froze.
Good times.

Yes, after living in Colorado where of all places they can’t figure out how to plow roads I’m a firm believer. I ordered a set of chains too and I’m going to be adding a shovel mount in the rear among other items.
