That’s better than a favorite pocket knife or had you forgot a hand gun in the bag.   Ammo is much less money considering travel safe.

I’m just glad I found the smoke grenade in the side pocket.  Joked with the wife that she should video me holding the pin in one hand and fingers on the spoon yelling allah akbar at the checkpoint.

Would be epic......

Funny thing is, on a flight to Kansas City a while back, an automatic folder made it through..on the way there AND the way back...

I feel safer

I have wrapped my auto in my laptop power cord and shoved into the deep pocket of the bag with pens and walked right through.  It was the gallon of whisky that got me in California. Forgot I had it

Hope you have a little mixer.  I hate mixing by hand.

Well yesterday was a 15 hour travel day.  Everyone was getting a little snippy by the end but we finished with a 5 star meal at the local resort and everyone seemed to back down from defcon 4 to defcon 2.

Flew HOU to PHX to SLC and drove from SLC to WY via ID.

Freeway was shut down near Tremonton for an accident and it took 1 1/2 hours to go 4 miles. Detoured through a small town.

Got to the rental just about 8pm local.

Today will be a low key day but man, 41 overnight was awesome and the view out the back of the house we renewed is spectacular.

Didn’t have to honk much.  Most people all the way up 15 seemed to know how to drive.  And the people in UT and ID all seemed pretty nice and polite.  There were a few self absorbed morons but for the most part everyone was nice. Would have loved to spent the day in SLC but it didn’t work out.  As long as the drive was, it may make sense to spend the night in SLC instead of taking the chance that another accident shuts down the freeway and we miss our return flight.  We shall see.

I had reserved a Tahoe rental and when I got there they didn’t have it.  They gave me the QX80 and that thing is garbage.  So glad the wife got the Lexus instead of that.  It only had 9800 miles on it but every time it hit a pothole the wheel twitched and shook and the tires must have been a bit out of balance as at 80mph going up 15 (the speed limit) it was a bit shakey.  It showed due for oil change, filter change and tire rotation and was covered in bugs when I picked it up.

Not a comfortable drive at all.

Walking up the little local market this morning ran across a mamma moose and her youngun.  First moose Ive seen in person and that thing was huge

Ken I can see why you have the place in ID.  I’m working on the wife while we are here.  She’s not one for cold.

Got an 03 Chebby really cheap because it had a blown transfer case, and I mean totally destroyed. This is exactly what I wanted, to leave in Idaho to save on rentals.
Wasn't as good as I thought. The transfer case took out the transmission tail housing. Both ujoints toast. Water pump leaking. Front end worn out. Someone did a pad slap on rotors worn down to the fins, and the cluster drained the battery over night.
The rear bumper was shoved into the plastic bed side so I pulled that out today and "fixed" the cracks in the bed by hot glueing pieces of thin plastic to the backside, then replaced the taillights.

City required vinyl fence, I would have done good ol chain link

We ended up doing the complete east side and the complete west side.  Now to drill holes for the back wall.

JR, I have an Olight. It’s a nice flashlight.

Ryan, congrats man, you are on to zone defense from man to man...

Dave, I will have to go through my pack well.  3 knives on this trip, medical shears, etc.

My $300 Emerson Karambit got thrown in the washing machine and I heard it banging around in there and paused the load only to find it was open and missing some parts.

It’s a skeleton frame with small screws on each side holding the slabs to spacers.  Found 2 screws and a spacer in the bottom.  Still missing 2 screws.  Must of lost them previously and when the last one worked its way loose it fell apart.   Bad part is the blade got nicked but it will be ok.  Got it back together and bought a multi tool to screw it back.

Now to find some little screws and some loctite

Took advantage of the weekend off to head to the river and do some camping. It almost felt like a holiday weekend the whole park was full. They got our water line trenched in down there. Met some new people. It was a good weekend.

My sister brought to my attention that there is a Hemp farmers forum coming up. Nebraska recently legalized hemp farming. There are only a handful of farmers planting it this year. I don't know if we will ever plant hemp but it's definitely something I am interested in learning more about.

Just finished two days at the farm. Work, eat, sleep, eat, work...

Finished a lot of bush hogging and mowing, and of course working on the tractors as they broke down.

Mower: One flat tire

John Deere: Ran low on hydraulic fluid...leaking somewhere

Bush hog: Broke another blade off. Had a new set and a new bolt or two standing by, so almost a non event

Playing catchup this time, maybe get to building/improving next time

Depth, I didn’t feel like trimming depth from front to rear to fit depth of fire box. By buying two narrow pieces I can overlap them. I am trimming the width to fit the opening size.

Another thing you cannot see from pics is that we drilled a vertical 1/2” x 2’ long rebar into the outside corner block. Instead of using mortar and stacking them we are filling outside perimeter holes with crete. These vertical bars will keep block from shifting on the foundation.
