Something about gravel drives I like, looks good.

The Z71 should have a firmer ride, don't go soft on us! I too think a gasser for a DD would be a good idea.

Why do you even need the dually anymore aside from the everything is bigger in Texas mentality?

New truck - what color will it be? ;)

I'll keep the dually for the weekend place and when I need to haul something heavier than I'm comfortable with in the 1/2 ton.

And you don't even need to ask the second question

not the dealer I'm working with but just an image I grabbed off the net

Nothing large at the moment but I want to keep my options open.

Plan on leaving this one stock except for tint, bed liner and bed cover and floor mats and alarm.

That's from out by me Tex. What is it with you and buying PNW trucks, NW Motorsports wasn't enough to scare you away? (I know you're not working with them, I did read the post, just getting my chuckles in)

Wife won’t let me paint her van......

I may keep the LB7 just to play with it. I have a LB7 block crank and heads coming in July.

Could do a SAS, lockers, 4:11s and some mud grapplers and then go play with the Jeep boys .....

But likely I’ll just stop digging. I was told if you find yourself in a hole that’s the first rule of order.....I’ve got over $40k in it and would be lucky to get $15k out of it. Any takers??

Have a little more faith in the ol girl Tex. I got $13k for my stock height extended cab with 201k miles that had rust on the rockers and in need of an injector or two. I told him I understood it was a lot of money but if I couldn’t get that I’d just keep it. From what I remember the bus is a lot nicer truck with fewer miles than mine.

Well JR I have 7 vehicles, two boats, a pull trailer RV, and a dump trailer. 3 kind of red colored, Running out of parking area. I guess that puts you in at least 3rd place right now.

What gets me about multi vehicle ownership is the maintenance. Even if you farm it out the scheduling is brutal when you work 60-70 hours a week.

Fewer would be simpler.

Of course my boy Nate points me to the Denali ultimate.  Now I’m even considering something other than red :eek

Me thinks most of the problem would be the 60-70 hours per week. That crap really tugs on the family life as well as vehicle maintenance. I just don't drive them all much then it is only a twice a year maintenance issue. Just let the dealer service the two we use most.

It wasn’t the vehicles that bothered me so much and we had 5 vehicles at one point which two were off road trucks being the rubicon & EB which were maintenance hogs if & when you abused them. What really got me was the equipment and small engines.

Power washer
Atv
Log splitter
Zero turn
Trencher
Push mower
3 chain saws (yes each had a dedicated job)
Skid loader
Tractor
Weed eaters (hand held x 2)
Commercial three wheel weed eater
Pull behind mower for atv
Welder genset
Small genset
& those were just the engine driven pieces. Add in all the shop equipment & attachments for various other stuff listed & it drove me crazy......

Edit: & don’t forget the trailers we had three or four of those at our peak.

Colorado is expensive granted but property maintenance is much less now.......

It’s not too bad since I can set my own schedule for the most part and many hours are at home before the family wakes or after they go to bed.

Some weeks are better than others. At least I eat well when I travel

With classes this semester I leave the house at 6:00 with twins to daycare than work till 4:30, class at seven, till 9:00, add the homework in to that.    If I had a larger fuel tank on on the truck I would be able to stop for food once in a while.

Maintenance has turned into a dealer only item as I hate most shops.  With the exception of all-pro off-road in Ogden (Tate knows them guys) otherwise I would be screwed

Yeah. Then there’s that. Fortunately I don’t travel often (relative to other roles in my company)

Most of my travels serve to scout out opportunities for getaways with the wife. Charleston is nice and is now on the list.

Charleston is nice & Hilton Head is great with family, we’re headed there in a couple weeks actually. Always took kids there almost every year before moving to Co.

The magnolia plantation, fort Sumter & patriots point are all pretty neat while in Charleston. Savannah Ga, is half hour drive south of HHI & a really neat old city too.

I had the joy of going to the body shop today because someone with questionable family lineage ran into the side of my truck and drove off with out a note or anything!  Right rear door is messed up so now the question do I turn it in on insurance,  pay for it or just drive it? Something for me to think about.

I wouldn't just drive it but then that is me. How big a deduct and what is the estimate to get it well again. How much will they raise the rates on you.  Never an easy choice when it still is usable right..

So this morning started off not so great. First thing in the shop I tried multi tasking and ended up emailing Tate for a new short side inner shaft for the superduty 60. Somehow I managed to tweak an ear in the press as I was tearing them down. So there’s a couple hundy add on to the build. Then I was trying to figure out transportation to airport for upcoming family vacation & realized I booked us home on a flight a day early (yeah can’t make this up). So it was a costly morning to say the least. I did get quite a bit accomplished throughout the day as it wore on. Hopefully tomorrow morning is less expensive.....

Depends on insurance. we've been hit in parking lots twice, and our insurance covered it all without raising our rates. (less deductible of course) Our un-insured motorist rider is pretty good. if it's just the door skin, and not any quarter panel stuff, I would just pay it out of pocket, depending on damage it might be less than your deductible would be.

Sean we are playing with vacation transport also. Going on a cruise in mid July and flying into LAX. Have a friend who will get us to Sac and back but transfer to LAX and the Long Beach are $25 each both ways (x5 is more than airline fair). We might just try uber, only a 10 mile

Lol. She’d be wrapped around the axle

So here’s the decision point I could use some help with

Dealer has a fully loaded LTZ Z71 that the manager drove as a demo and I’ve got him down to 48 plus ttl which is 11,700 off sticker.

GMC is offering 11000 off the loaded denali but it would still be 54 +ttl

The Denali has the 6.2 but I don’t know if I need it. The Z71 has dvd rear entertainment and 20 inch wheels instead of 22s on the gmc

That’s still 6k to buy up to the Denali and I’m not sure it’s worth that much.

Thoughts?

They hit it hard enough to bend the intrusion bar and I noticed today that the got both right hand doors. Body shop said around $2,000 with and insurance deductible of $250 so I'm thinking that the insurance will get ac call

But, it did run well granted......

Up here the Denali’s have a better resale value and the 6.2 is hard to find so an up charge also. I would go with 6.2 if you can swing the extra money. Cough..cough. Award bonus check.

Just about got my soffit and fascia all finished up, just need to add a final piece of drip edge on the far end. Once that is done, I’ll be putting the gutter back up. That’s 72 feet of soffit and the gutter is a single piece, luckily I was able to get it off without making it look too bad.

Dave, my wife had a 6.2l in a Denali. It wasn’t that we couldn’t afford the vehicle or the fuel. However, it annoyed me how much fuel it drank regardless.......

But, it did run well granted......
I don’t mean it in a negative manner but when ya really look at the cost difference in 14 mpg and 18 mpg for a average years driving.   $3.00 a gallon.  15000 miles a year that’s $2500 in fuel vs $3214 which really is only $700 bucks difference.  But it does hit you if you drive a lot more than that.   Or if your lookin for distance with out fill up.

So if we talk about $700 bucks for that much HP knowing he likes Boost (we all like BOOST) I would say get the 6.2 and live it up

Doesn’t the 6.2 like mid or premium fuel too?

I think the Z71 should be lower. I mean a demo Z71 for just a little less than a new Denalli? Plus a smaller engine and you do want a DD right?

Even the 5.3 have like 350hp and a mild tune would always help that. You aren't buying it to tow withe bus around. Heck a dodge is 40k new, tell them that!!

I ran premium in my 6.2L so better fuel I think helps hp (at least in my mind, lol), not sure what they recommend though.

JR may be on to something, I haven't looked at GM truck sales figures lately but a year ago they were dismal & declining. Part of that stumped me when I was trying to buy as they should have been willing to deal quicker than they were when I was looking. It's hard to get one dealer anymore to drop much below another. They are all pretty well on the same page as far as pricing, I blame the internet and technology for that as I think it is controlled pretty tight from the top anymore. The only thing I have really been able to do in recent years is to get them to throw in extras at the particular dealership such as extended oil changes & warranties. You know the other freebies when you start fine tuning a deal. My mom's lesbaru I was able to get her an extra $500 in oil changes and $1000 towards things like weather tec floor mats etc. Her's was a lesbaru corporate unit with 6K on it.
