Yah Ken I have some carbide chains for the 18" bar and one for the 36" bar. I will probably soon have a few for the 20" also I suspect. LoL @ semi trailer cutting...

I guess I averaged a pickup load of wood per chain, so not terrible. But annoying when I can usually cut far more per sharpening. I even turned the oiler up and manually oiled two squirts of the oiler per cut... silly. Elm does burn hot though...so I guess there is that, and I needed it cleaned up anyway. This full chisel chain seems a bit less durable than the last batch I bought, makes me wonder.

Hopefully latter this afternoon I will get some more parts collecting done, I am rounding up crew cab goodies to see what I need to order/buy and what I already have on shelves.

Norm, you wouldn't think a guy would need a saw in the desert....so, sometimes I just have to find a reason to use one! lol
I found out, after destroying that carbide chain, that they make different grades of carbide....the one I ruined was like 100+ and the replacements I bought were like 50ish iirc. ..Hindsight.....

Mike, I really like that pic of the horses. If you guys weren't wearing modern jackets (and not a bunch of old farts), I would've thought that that was a scene from Young Guns!

I looked and felt cool COLD and you're correct about old like dirt, especially since one mare from hell was giving a friend fits so while trying to adjust its attitude, it threw me into the dirt.  She went right then left so fast I was still going right, but it's okay, the pistol broke my fall!  You can trace the outline on my backside! :o

Got my spare tire loose and aired up...be away the next couple of days and realized I should check the spare. Well the great way GM hides it under the a** end coupled with living in salt land means the mechanism to lower it has rusted nicely into one ball of crap.

So watch videos on YouTube to see how guys do it. Watch how they jack it and angle it and use a screwdriver in one place, take off the license plate and reach through on another. All because GM added a lock, I mean safety latch, in case the cable breaks. After watching it all and appreciating the hours people spent doing it and videoing it for me to watch I grabbed the angle grinder, went through one wheel but had it off in about 20 minutes. Aired it up, threw it in the back and called it good. The yukon's got 240k on it and is not long for this world. I wasn't going to try to save a rusted blob of metal.

Fine I will never talk to any of you on the phone again!! LoL

Yah underbody spare tires = a dumb concept from day one.

I just ordered 4 70 link carbide chains for my 20" bar from a local saw shop. He told me part of the reason I might be killing chains is my saw isn't exactly OEM. So being tuned to run hard with the 36" bar and then dropping to a 60" bar is likely a bit more rpm under load than the chains like. This may explain the smoke coming off the bar even under full oiling.

So, I have to now find a saw that will be happy with the 20" bar and leave the bigger bar on the big Echo. Why not....everyone needs 5 saws right?

My wife bought a white board and declared I need to make a shopping list for the crew cab project...so tonight I wrote on it. "everything"  She wasn't amused.

I'm not sorry at all. We kinda both wanted to talk to each other. I think we even talked about things we meant too.

Falling on your gun is better than falling on your sword for sure!

Most of us need spares, some more than 1 as you can't just fix a tire anymore like you used to. Not that don't have a plug kit handy all the time.

Oh forgot. Changed out shocks today. Was going to do them last night, but had leaking hard line for rear brakes. So was going to let the garage do it. He was too busy. Ate a ton of dirt, but have brakes and shocks again.
And the face armour has been carved off for the year. A little premature as it turned out this morning. Somehow -25 is cold without it.

You can come over here and help pick up rocks or pull fence out. The wind is only going to gust 50 mph. On second thought I think we might just stay in the shop again today.

Wrecking fence sounds like more fun than building them.... And yeah, the winds been rather intense even for Nebraska. With some luck I will get something accomplished today...but first I am stuck here at the farm waiting for a fella to show up and explain why our scale doesn't work.

I actually ordered the expanded metal to finish it last week. Went this morning to pick it up. They got the wrong size. Holes are too big. Won't have it until Tuesday.

I went junking for a while, then I washed my pickup. I then came home and got some parts rounded up for the Crew Cab and that's about it. Today if time allows I may strip some parts off a parts truck for the crew.

My pastor is from Waco...Had a church down there...Was just down there for a revival or something like that.

He raves about the place. I flew over it a few times, refueled at the airport...pretty green eyed blonde girl fillin' up my Hook while by crew chiefs checked her out!

I just know they were prayin' the thing would break on crank so they could weave that into a week of mis-ordered and late arriving wrong parts...

Yesterday at the restaurant, I banged out 12 fried chicken dinners, 15 burgers and 5 pizzas between 6-9. Then the grease trap on the main grey line clogged and the snake I pulled out of the tool room had rusted solid from the great tool care that was given previously. I then punched out and went home. tonight I'm cooking for 12+ at my friends place down on the waterfront at sunset. I'm sure that will suck, lol.

Attended a dinner with 180 warriors.  Ride2Recovery helps heal wounded and PTSD soldiers.  Tomorrow we ride in honor of Clay Hunt who lost his battle with PTSD 4 years ago.  Monday kicks off a 447 mile ride over 6 days from Houston to Arlington.

I took my family with me and my two daughters got to see first hand the effect of war.  Teaching them young to appreciate the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform.

eh, and did a few other things like installed a new ISP modem and programmed a new wireless network, replaced a brake cable on the wifes bicycle and tuned up the rear derailleur
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Just finished a 25 mile ride with some awesome soldiers. Rode in Nate's honor.
