I am up but still feeling it. Think I sweated enough for a month of hard work.

Busy day, wife is working a double, daughter has volleyball camp, bible school for 1 son and basketball game for the other.

Then I noticed the dmax is only getting 13.5 volts out of the alt, batteries new last year.

Been at the mother in laws for a couple days now in Owsley county Kentucky. The fridge in the camper crapped out on the way down. We pull in the drive way and get informed that the washer quit. Mom in laws worthless pos boyfriend finally ran off with a younger woman who shares the nasty habit of putting needles in Thier arms. So with Mom on fixed income I get to buy a new washer. So I find a used one at the applince dealer. Less than a year old. Guy who had it was making payments and died. $700 for new washer got it for 4.

Sitting around bored this morning so I tilled between the rows in her garden. Sit down for dinner and the wife informed me the the spare 12 volt trucker fridge we keep as a spare in the camper has quit. Well crap. I think I will have a beer.

Mowed the lawn, trimmed bushes, weed whacked, watered the lawn and trees, then pulled weeds.  Then I made a can of tuna and sleeve of crackers disappear!

Started cleaning up the yard around the mother in laws. Her boyfriend drug home all kinds of crap. A pile of brand new doors still in the pckaging. Had to be atleast 10 of them I lost count. Just left outside to rot. Piles of old oak flooring, carpet and other crap. Old extension cords. Rotten garden hose. I started burning in the morning and by dark I only got half done. Today I'm sitting in the house relaxing.

On a lighter note today is our 5 year wedding anniversary. We were married right here in Kentucky on the neighbors porch. They have a huge southern style porch with the big white pillars.

Happy anniversary Jon, and happy belated JR.

I've been at the cabin a couple days now. Enjoyed Canada day yesterday, been doing some fishing and yard work.

Muggy??? You mean you guys got a sprinkle?  Haha, I kid, we got hammered down here the last few days. Went to Tucson Friday morning, drove through three patches of rain that caused limited visibility. I am thankful for it all though, has brought down the temps thankfully.  My son also enjoyed the puddles that have accumulated!

Yeah, it's rained heavy a few days in a roll at the shop, but barely sprinkled at my house 10 miles away. It's a little weird to have that much before the 4th, in Casa Grande.....you guys down south seem to always get it well before us.

Went to the Farmers' market, grabbed some fresh parsley and some fresh pasta. Made some Lemon Garlic shrimp and linguine, with a side of naan bread for a dinner date I had.

Hoe'd all the plant beds in preparation for delivery of 4yrds mulch to be spread at the Casa'; mowed and filled a few drainage holes with sod chunks.  Gave my daughter some car washing pointers as she practiced on the wife's Acura; not bad of a job for a 11 year old first time solo!

Jon and JR congrats.  The 23rd is my anniversary too. This year made 26.

Yesterday: rode 20 miles on the bike. 90% humidity. Nuts. Moved a heavy executive desk and credenza out of my office to a friends house.  Decided 1pm at 96 degrees and 55% humidity was a good time to mow the yard. Then I salted a pork butt and 2 racks of ribs and headed to the hide to harvest veggies and smoke meat. Put the pork butt on at 10:30 and stayed up most of the night.  Ribs went on at 5am. All done at 9. Wrapped it up and headed back for bible study with the family.  Feasted on pulled pork , ribs, cucumber and tomato salad from my garden, along with cole slaw, and my canned jalapeños and bread and butter pickles.  Mom brought Mac and cheese and a red white and blue cheesecake.  Thanks to Nate for the tips on smoking 2 meats at the same time. I'm wiped out.

Moved a little farther south to Pigeon Forge Tenn. Got a big cabin for the week. Wife and I.  Our 2 youngest kids. Mother in law, 2 of wife's aunts. An uncle and 2 cousins. Later this week my aunt and uncle from Nashville are coming for a few days. Its a full house but we only see them once a year so it's ok.

Deputy Enos Straight is suppose to be at Cooters in Gatlinberg today for a meet and greet. Autographs and such. I need to head over there but the traffic sucks. I get too excited and have to let the wife drive.

Built a special chair for my grand daughter. She fell and broke her left femur and is casted up from her belly to her toes. So a special arrangement was needed...

Next up on the medical crisis side is one of the pre rangers. Apparently he had to go to the bathroom while down near the creek this past weekend. He used some leaves to wipe. Those leaves were the poison ivy variety. We have an absolute mess with that one! Rangers....

I'm going to guess a benedryl shot, some prednisone and a week or more of unhappiness.

Probably not the greatest idea considering the location, but when I get poison ivy, I usually douse the area with rubbing alcohol, after washing it with some Ivyblock or whatever it's called.

That's gonna make for a rough week or so for the poor little guy.
BUT, one lesson he'll never forget!

His inattention to detail (Checking the leaves first) is costing him dearly. I have him covered up with steroidal cream at the moment...

I can't imagine something like that.

...and man I'm glad we don't have any of that stuff down here.....I mean, no one I know has accidently tried to use a prickly pear for TP, or saguaro, etc. It's pretty cut and dry...if it is bad for you, chances are it has 2 inch spikes on it!

How's the granddaughter?

Yup, that will not be any kind of fun.

Well on my way home the truck hit this milestone.

Which equates to this in miles.

Not sure why, but always like capturing the big milestones for some reason. I think HH6 is surprised I've kept the truck this long. While I was out had the front end fixed up. 2 uppers and one lower bad, I had to do the outer tie rod ends before I left, don't think they would have made the trip. This is the second time that I've had to do front end work, so I'm quite happy with how it's holding up.

Tonight, mixed up a batch of home made root beer. Will know in 2-3 weeks how it turns out. My son will be home about then, and there's something about a root beer float...
Then we'll likely get into some other beer, but that's another story.

The kit made about 18 litres. Quite easy, 4.5 lbs sugar, 17 litres of water, the root beer mix and some wine yeast.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Don sorry to hear about the injuries. That is going to be a great life lesson for your pre ranger and one helluva wedding roast and toast story

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Oh the poison ivy brings back memories from boy scouts.

I found a blacksmith shop that for 75 bucks I could take a class and make a knife out of a railroad spike. I'm hooked now. Might have to build a forge.
