Where did the like button go on this app.

I haven't done anything to her but efi.  She has handled well for 50+ thousand miles

Raising boys into RealMen!!

I put many hard miles on my 03 on the hot tune.  After it finally limped the tranny a couple times I decided a built tranny really wasn't in the budget.  I also had done a few other things to it too, (batmo wheel and boost valve) but for the most part is was just efi.

My uncle just went to retrieve my cousin a couple weeks ago after he toasted his tranny.  It was about a 6-7 hour drive one way.  From what I understand he switched it to his hot tune and tried to do a 40 psi boosted launch in 4lo.  Not really sure what he was thinking.

Dave, did you decide to get one built, or just having it rebuilt? Just wondering who you might use that's close to where you're at. I've got MikeL close on the left coast, but haven't set aside that kind of dough yet. ...already had to change out the convertor at 20k.

You guys are going into tow/haul mod when pushing it, right? That alone tightens up the shifts and raises pressures. Us guys with the older (06) trannys need the trangojr be the same as you later model guys.

Dave, if this is the first time you've limped the trans, then you're probably fine for many miles to come. Just take it easy for a while and save up some money. Its not one of those "I limped it, I have to have it built right away" kind of things.

No, he wouldn't do something like that unless it was his own.  He has an 09 Dodge I think with PPEI tuning.  I'm his go to guy for truck questions so I knew it wasn't good when I got a phone call at 7:30 in the morning.  Usually he just texts me various questions.

Originally everybody thought that it was good to use tow/haul when pushing it.  Now the big tranny builders agree that it isn't good.  Don't really remember what the exact explanation was for it but it had something to do with the line pressure.

As far as I have read bear is right, my tow/haul only is used when towing, it's stretches my shifts out to far and the defuel kills the pickup speed

I have three options as far as builds. (Yes it's getting built)  Mike L has a great price for a 800hp build at 5k.  Randy's transmission ( if you don't know him look on YouTube) for 5.5k and blocks away.
Then Kelly Harris falls into the good ol boy who I have trusted before, 30 years of GM Tec 4.1k. And I get to learn and watch

Mike l is pretty much a genius for trans missions but I doubt he would let me in the shop to learn and watch and if I am going to drop the coin I want to gain all the knowledge I can for my $

I guess looking at it being the only time I have limped it and to keep driving it, I don't like pushing my luck. My truck is still my most valuable/ reliable asset and I would like to keep it that way. I don't have access to good people to pull me home, or trailer my broke truck to a shop. I feel it better to fix it before it leaves me on a back road truck full of scouts

Brad at Calvins or Mike L would be my recommendation for a trans

On a brighter note... I ordered new wheels and tires for the dually today. By the time I get back from NM in two weeks ill have 62k on the original tires.

I was told by a big tranny guy (can't recall who) to go into tow/haul when pushing it. I rarely use it, even in the foothills today.

I have limped mine once a few years back but no issues since then, just grabbed 127k today.

On another note I saw 2500HD wheels on a ford today, looked pretty good.

Ken. I didn't tell you I'm 3 feet tall. Lol

TR. very much a change from my normal I.T. Desk job.

Still have a lot to do.

This is my plan. It will have another row of stringers about 6" up from the bottom of leg post.  That will make it solid. I also have heavy duty locking casters and some heavy bolts that I will make for leg height adjustment. Should have about 1.5" of travel so I can make any concrete floor level. That's the hope anyway.

I'll create plates for the bottom of leg and drill 1" hole for bolt. Then weld nut and washer on inside before I weld plate on bottom of leg.  Then I will cut another plate and weld bolt head to it. Then I will weld caster to it.  That should give me adjustment at each corner and should be nice and stout. See simple!  If only I can keep everything square and level while welding up.

Once I get the base and top plate connected (I'm using 12M x 30mm countersunk fine thread bolts for attaching top to base) I will lay out grid of 5/8" (16mm) holes to use as hold down points similar to strong hand type of tables.

Then I will also make the center of the table have a radius style of hold down holes pre set for angles. I can't find the design right now but will post when I find it.

Also 4th of July weekend I set up the lighting for the area.  I have one stubborn fixture but will tackle that when I have time.

More to come.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Day 2 of welding table work

Cut all of the cross bracing and put an angle on all ends for weld up.

Then fitted them in and tack welded.

Once they were all tacked I welded all that I could reach. The vertical welds were a challenge that I need more practice on. I tried uphill and downhill. Downhill seemed to work better.

Then I started cutting plates for bottom of legs that the adjustment bolts would go through. Started using hand band saw. Very slow. Then tried abrasive cut off wheel. Once again a major disappointment. Then tried Hypertherm 45. First time I have used it and found out I don't have big enough compressor and couldn't get the pressure up and then it would pop circuit. So took out ole trusty oxy axe but too ragged on 1/2" plate. (Probably my lack of practice). Soooo back to portable band saw.

And see Ken. I did get to use the table even when it was upside down.

Cut the leg plates and welded the bolts.

Flipped them over and tacked them onto the legs. Then cut plates to weld bolt heads and casters to plate.

It is welded up from bottom. I still need to clean up welds and then drill indexing holes from the rail to the table top so once flipped over I can enlarge and tap the hole for the countersunk bolts for hold down.

I will also prime and paint the bottom of the stand before I flip it over.

Getting closer.  All day soccer today so on hold for now.

Well had quite a busy day for being on vacation.

Spent the morning cutting steel pieces to add my next 20 foot dock section.
Have the guide pipe brackets built, and the hinge pipes cut.
Water is up so getting it done has lowered on the priority list.
Then the grass had dried enough to cut so went to it.
That killed the morning and into the afternoon.

HH6 was ready to come back out at 1500, so did the pick and headed home.

Tore the stock front bumper back off and refitted the newly finished front.
Front end all back together and the bugs out in full force.
Too dark now for update pics so that will be in the morrow.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

You just reminded me of your four seasons

9 months of ice, two weeks of thaw, then the bug season, then two weeks of fall, then the freeze again!

That about right? ;-)

That's a rather accurate description of our four seasons.
This year has been so dry up until the last couple weeks, the bugs haven't been too bad.
Now with a couple weeks rain, man they're coming out in droves...

Stopping for a coffee refill right now, in the process of rear end wiring, and repairs.
Another couple hours and I'll be done with the rear bumper as well!

Drove 10 hours today back to Texas.  Wife was feeling miserable from altitude sickness.  Oxygen and advil were not helping.  We cut it short.  Going from sea level to 8700 was a bit much

Man don't I know how that feels!

one third of all the air in the atmosphere is from sea level to 4,000 feet. Next third from 4,000 to 25,000.

I never liked flying over the passes in the Hindu-Kush mountains that back up to Himalayas. Cruising for an hour or so at 13,000-14,000 always made me feel light headed

The best thing for altitude is to actually live and work there. Next best thing is to work out all the time doing cardio. If you aren't one of the above, then there is no escaping what less oxygen will do to you.

Or dope like Lance Armstrong and inject hemacrit....

I was gtg after 24 hours except for a little shortness of breath. But as you know, if the wife is miserable , everyone is miserable. We probably should have gone to ruidoso first. A week stop at 6400 would have prepped  her for 8700. We go to 6400 every year and she's gtg after 2 days. I guess there is a big difference between 6400 and 8700

I live/workout at 5300' or have for last year now. No big deal, I'll do a good hour to hour and half of cardio several times a week. However, if I head up into mountains west of boulder to around 8500' & it's still (as of last week) a noticeable difference for me even. It wears me out, if I'm up there doing non cardio activities for 2-3 hours & come home I'm beat. Altitude is a tough opponent......

not sure if there are any ford go fast fans here.. but it's mustang week in myrtle beach. I wasn't able to bring mine down, nor the guy that came with me to bring is '13 Shelby. but it's fun either way. so much noise.. it's music to my ears.

a few teaser shots from yesterday

a notch fox body with new pro charged 5.0 coyote motor

quickly becoming my new favorite.. Shelby GT350

this motor

in this car

beautiful build..

and my hands down favorite so far.. 1968 fast back. complete restoration on race line wheels (may recognize from gone in 60 seconds)

this was stunning. both inside and out. complete factory interior accompanied by a Shelby GT500 wood grained steering wheel. original gauges, matching ruby red seats/carpet. the works..

With that stated I have way better things to use my time & resources towards.

The UN wants to pass a world law that restricts guns further, the idea of a foreign entity telling me what I can and can have is a problem to me.   Thoughts ?

I'm a lifetime NRA member. I don't like everything they do but the fact that the left constantly derides them means they are doing something right. They drive a lot of legal challenges to handgun policies such as "Heller" and against the city of New Orleans for disarming citizens in the aftermath of Katrina and against DC for making the requirements to onerous for handgun carry permits.

They do a good job of leveraging membership and money. That said, write your legislators, be active and loud and be prepared to lay it all on the line when/if they come for your weapons.

I am a lifetime member also. They offer deals all the time and still ask for more.

I am well past what they want and do also.

Not a big ford fan. Drove them for over 25 years at work, cars and vans.

Furthermore at some point you need to start thinking local & acting local. On a local level you are a much better salesman then the nra. Kinda goes back to the RM thing, your actions, words & leadership is what will matter in the future. If you like you can give them the $25 or $50 per year & have them continue to spend a good portion of that sending you mail asking for more.

However, we are on a very slippery slope coming towards the cliff edge at a trot if not a run. When we get to the edge do you really think what some UN or Corrupt big brother says will matter? I don't & am not planning on asking them their opinion. The rule of law is dead & the quicker you digest that accept it & move forward the better off you will be. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

At least there is a ruling by the SC that treaties and UN rules do not override the US Constitution. Not that the media would care and they would raise a fuss for sure.

In the end it is up to all of us to be spokemans for what is right and common sense.

Funny, they aren't calling for banning trucks after the bloody 1 mile drive in France.
