2019 hunting trip
« on: October 25, 2019, 06:05:36 PM »
Well another hunting trip but with different results this year. Had some early snow that got the deer moving and I got lucky. Hunting in the Entiat drainage near lake Chelan WA. The auto transmission in the jeep worked great, glad I went with it instead of standard.

Not much going on down low so ended up in the Shady pass area a long ways from anywhere. Got the deer just below snow line.

Made it over the pass with out chains, mostly because I didn't have them along. Photo of Lake Chelan far below us. Very nice time even with the wet cold weather. An hour drive from the trailer site to Shady Pass road turn off.

Photo of the deer strapped onto friends carrier on back of jeep. No room inside the jeep so he had to drive back to trailer to get the carrier.

Congrats Bob. Reminds me of the time I lifted a female nilgai onto the front rack of a Jeep.

My back hurt for 4 months. That “little” cow went 250 easy and I lifted and turned to sling it on the rack and new immediately I was hosed.

What made it worse was the guy driving the Jeep asked if I wanted his help and I said “naw, I got this”. Lol I was more stupid 10 years ago.

That looks like a great time Bob. Someday I’d like to do another western style hunt.

Thanks guys for the good words. It was a great trip and bringing home a deer topped it off. So pretty watching the sun come up over the top of a ridge. Didn’t do nearly as much hiking as years ago but still a great time.
