I called them today and Mike said that they had not worked on SquareD yet, and would not get to it today.

Are you & this mechanic related?

I mean it is the Tuck so isn’t it like a law or unspoken rule that everyone is related or distant cousins or some such thing?
We should check the mandals photos to see how may ties Don has. 6 each would be a strong indication of a family tree like a telephone pole

« on: December 14, 2017, 12:00:16 AM »
Don, reminds me of a shooting competition I was in with two active duty rangers. Kids really 22 and 23 years old. Sniper team. Cleaning weapons after the day we chatted about their experience as I have a cousin who is a marine Corp sniper in some far away places.  They were running the “new” M24 system in 300wm for the competition at the time but in the field they ran a 50. They had seen things no one that young should have seen. It was related in a very matter of fact way, that a hit from a 50 at 1500m separates the top half from the bottom half.  And the bottom half take a step or two to figure out it ain’t still attached.

Regarding bad guys being doped. Ocular cavity shots pretty much cures what ever it is that ailed them.  Immediately.

Some are teaching head shots in self defense as the first point of aim but I’m still a proponent of two center mass and a rapid follow up to the ocular cavity.

I got one for you Norm.  A handgun load that might make you reconsider the utility of a handgun on large animals.....

Barns 200gn XTP in a 10mm glock with a KKM barrel.  1353fps.  14 in the mag.  pretty much a get-r-dun load on most animals, 2 or 4 footed

Well since I'm currently fired, I'm not really posting this:

My load out Don is a CS gas rubber durometer in the #1 position.  Followed by OO all the way to the bottom of the tube.  Side saddle with 3slugs bottom up and 3 more OO bottom down.

As a civi, my thought process is that I gave them a "less than lethal" warning and they refused to heed warning.  Everything after that, they had coming. (think: good for the defense lawyer I will need) Those CS durometers are pretty cool as long as you don't hit them with it closer than about 25 feet as they tend to break skin.  But a whollop to the chest a big poof of CS in the face is a pretty good determinate of who really wants to get it on and who doesn't

OK, I'm back to being fired.  Can't wait to see the new gun Don......

I heard Don day he’s going to get one and do a write up. (Turnabout is fair play for volunteering us to mod)

I have a saiga and M4 but let’s just say I have “a few” 870s and related parts. My favorite is a Wilson Combat 870 that just runs and runs and runs.

The more I think about the mag system the more I think I don’t like not being able to insert a slug from the side saddle and double rack to transition to a slug

Some of you may know that I love standardizing weapons systems.  One of the systems I've gone to is the 870.

https://www.remington.com/shotguns/pump-action/model-870-dm

Ran across this.  Not sure how I feel about it yet.  I can carry that much ammo in my long tube without a mag hanging down.

However reloading speed and maybe some aftermarket 10 rounders might make this an interesting weapon.

However inserting a slug and double racking seems impossible.

« on: December 11, 2017, 01:03:11 PM »
I watched it a few times.  I probably need to watch it from a larger screen. I’m surprised he didn’t get shot when he told him to push himself up to a kneeling position and the suspect put his hands behind his back.

I get the officer was probably a bit wound tight but with all the black lives matter stuff sparking a rash of cop killings I can’t say I wouldn’t be wound right too.   With reports of a weapon being pointed out the hotel window the cop had to assume he was armed. It almost looked to me like he was reaching to move the purse of the lady taken into custody when the cop engaged him.

I think the jury did the right thing. I’m just glad the guy wasn’t black or we’d all be watching the place burn.

Well I’ve been fighting a monster cold and against my wife’s better judgement I was out there yesterday and today. I’ve now lost my voice and am wiped out. But I did get the porch framing finished and got it decked with polar shield. I chose solar sheild since the porch will not be insulated and I want as much relief from the sun as possible.

And of course I ran out of my roll of synthetic underlayment and will have to buy a whole new 1000 sq ft roll for about 150 sq ft

Now I won’t admit she was right but as soon as I get home I’m taking a shower under the endless hot water and getting a nip of 129 proof

Pulled over from JRs room addition thread:

Regarding PEX, which is simply the type of cross linked polyethylene tubing, there are several ways to connect it.

There are crimp rings and barb shanks, of which there are hard copper (?) rings that get crushed with a circular crimp pliers, crimp hose clamps that get pinched on one side like a hose clamp.

There are tool less shark bite fittings where the hose is pressed into a retention and o-ring sealed fitting.

There are fittings over barbs where hard plastic rings are expanded mechanically and then allowed to shrink back to size to secure the joint.

It appears that the tool to crimp the hose clamp style, side crimp are much more affodable than the circular crimpers, and expanders for the plastic rings.

For the occasional use, small job DIY, which is the best system and why?  I am leaning towards the side crimp hose rings because one tool works on 3/8 up to 1 inch

Norm me too. I have three 6’0 double doors across the back of my house in the living room and I want to remove and install better quality doors so a primer on installing door would be awesome.  Also should I leave the 2x6 baseplate at the bottom of the rough opening of the entry door in the casita or does that get removed?

yeah, Garner is awesome.  We like to go over winter break and there are usually less than 30 campsites occupied.  We stay in the "new " loop where they have 50 amp connections and its so peaceful as opposed to the summer when they are completely packed.

They also have a bicycle ride across some of those twisty hills.  Crazy they do it in the 100 degree heat.  I rode down the road on my bike from the park for about 15 miles and it was brutal...and that was when I was used to doing 50 without a problem.

I do have to say I think about "deep in the heart of Texas" every night I'm there.  The stars are amazing

All I need to know is that its less federal government control.  Our founding fathers wanted states control over their sovereignty.  Imagine the reaction in the late 1700s had the federal government laid claim to millions of acres of state land?

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: Logical??
« on: December 05, 2017, 09:05:16 PM »
So lets also look at it this way.  The following is from Wikipedia and knowing its probably slanted, lets just go with the numbers they have in their entry.

Gun violence in the United States is a major national concern that results in tens of thousands of deaths and injuries annually.[1] In 2013, there were 73,505 nonfatal firearm injuries (23.2 injuries per 100,000 U.S. citizens),[2][3] and 33,636 deaths due to "injury by firearms" (10.6 deaths per 100,000 U.S. citizens).[4] These deaths consisted of 11,208 homicides,[5] 21,175 suicides,[4] 505 deaths due to accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm, and 281 deaths due to firearms use with "undetermined intent".[4] Of the 2,596,993 total deaths in the US in 2013, 1.3% were related to firearms.[1][6] The ownership and control of guns are among the most widely debated issues in the country.

In 2010, 67% of all homicides in the U.S. were committed using a firearm.[7] In 2012, there were 8,855 total firearm-related homicides in the US, with 6,371 of those attributed to handguns.[8] In 2012, 64% of all gun-related deaths in the U.S. were suicides.[9] In 2010, there were 19,392 firearm-related suicides, and 11,078 firearm-related homicides in the U.S.[10] In 2010, 358 murders were reported involving a rifle while 6,009 were reported involving a handgun; another 1,939 were reported with an unspecified type of firearm.[11]

Firearms were used to kill 13,286 people in the U.S. in 2015, excluding suicide.[12] Approximately 1.4 million people have been killed using firearms in the U.S. between 1968 and 2011, equivalent to a top 10 largest U.S. city in 2016, falling between the populations of San Antonio and Dallas, Texas.[12]

Lets review another statistic:  Medical errors account for 250,000 deaths a year.

https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/media/releases/study_suggests_medical_errors_now_third_leading_cause_of_death_in_the_us

So if 30,000 people die from firearms and more than 50% are suicide, so 15,000 murders a year with a firearm versus 250,000 medical errors.

Why are the liberals so afraid of guns when they should be scared of doctors?

37,000 people die in car crashes each year.....no outcry there either.

So you tell me.  Is about guns or is it about control?

Agreed,  Much like Obama after Sandy Hook said, if we can save the life of just one child, it warrants restricting access to weapons, but when the cause of the loss of life is an illegal immigrant, keeping them out of the country with a wall is completely out of the question.  Kate Steinley anyone?
