I figured this forum is the closest it comes to 'house stuff'... feel free to move if there is better spot.

Anyone have a water softener/conditioner in your house? Any recommendations? We had the Kinetico guy come and give us the dog and pony show a while back, but i just can't stomach the $4-5k price tag when there are systems out there for half. Haven't had anyone else out yet.

Kinetico - $$$ - reliable but if it does break, have to pay them to fix (proprietary). uses very little salt. Good reviews.
Culligan - $$$ - proprietary, electric valve.
Rainsoft - $$$ - proprietary, terrible reviews
Aquasana - $$ - not great reviews.
Fleck - $$ - parts are readily available to fix it myself if it comes to that. electric valve. good reviews.
EcoWater - $$$ - mediocre reviews. proprietary. sold through Costco, so at least there is a good return policy (I hope)

No really interested in the Kenmore/GE units that the big box stores sell. They don't have as good of reviews from what I've seen.

So, as a follow up to my "help" thread and the seller sending me a second set of lines to replace the damaged ones... I now have an extra set because I'm going to 'fix' the original set with the crimped flex line.

So, if you know of anyone with a 01-10 (I believe the LML's use a different part) Crew Cab (bed length doesn't matter), that need new fuel lines due to rust or whatever, then hit me up.

I paid $200 for them set, so if I can get $150 and you pay for shipping then that would be fair in my eyes. Though, shipping a large box may be difficult, so let's work something out. PM me if you're interested!

Thought I'd start a thread to document some of the various projects I've done over the last six years.

Old house: 2009-2014
1) Garage - 26' deep x 22' wide x 10' ceiling w/ attic storage Fully insulated and drywalled. Was perfect because the CCLB DMAX would actually fit with a little room to spare.
2) rebuilt the deck
3) front landscaping and irrigation
4) sewer line replacement
5) shed under deck (make most of the unused space)
6) backyard landscaping
7) kitchen wall insulation (or lack there of) and subsequent accident...
8) laminate flooring

Current house: 2014-current
1) family room built-ins
2) shed
3) kitchen table (in planning phase)

Hello Real men!
I'm a DuramaxForum (rparlee) transplant that has been following the Square-D build since its inception. I've been 'lurking' for months since Don moved everything on that build over here. I, sadly, was not around for the TacTopper, Tacoma, TacGator or some of those other Don projects...  ;)

I'm an IT Systems engineer by day, and a jack-of-all-trades in my free time. At 17 years old, I plowed my '95 Ranger through a huge puddle while offroading, hydrolocked the engine (busted a rod, bent another) and took it all apart and put it back together and sold it for $300 more than what I bought the truck for (minus all the parts for the repair). 

I enjoy working with my hands - I've built a garage, helped my uncle build their house, done a lot of landscaping/yard care growing up, if it involves power tools or building something, I generally am interested in it.

I'm also a family man with a wife, two daughters (6 and 19 months), a dog and two cats - one cat is like "red dog" and is a major pain and has now been relegated to permanent quarters OUTSIDE (wouldn't stop peeing on the dog's bed).

I have an '06 GMC 3500 CCLB LBZ and can't imagine ever selling it. I'd love to do a Duraburb swap, or even a 6BT swap in an older 'burb someday. All my uncles are into cars one way or another - Tom rebuilds and manufactures parts for Model A Fords, Steve is a fine cabinet and furniture craftsman and is into Alfa Romeo's and Mike is a pump engineer (think large sewage pumps) has an MG in his garage that has been a 'project' for 20 years... So, I guess that is where I get my interest in cars, carpentry and engineering from.
