512 different fastener part numbers having to be researched in the DOD supply system along with searching for them in surplus/ open market because our mechanical engineers can't get the crap together, all their sh!t in one helmet bag, they are like a six pack but lack the little plastic thing to keep them together and on and on. Today I hate engineers! Alright enough of that going back to work

Got tire'd of changing tires on this trailer. I'm slowly switching all of my light duty stuff to auto tires.
8" wheels to get rid of the 5" ones.
Black is the color of the day.

The tires came off of this newly acquired truck. He had replaced them shortly before his engine blew.

Got after a few trees this morning. First one on the ground before 7. Had to use the #7 to pull it away from the shop since it was leaning over the shop.

Second one was just a small cedar and the third was a triple trunk sweetgum 36 inches at the base and each trunk leaning a different way and it sat between the house and the shop. I dropped two with no problem but the other’s falling was really close to the corner of the house so I tied off to it and ran the rope through a pulley at the base of a tree in the direction I wanted it to go and then pre tensioned it before cutting it and it dropped right where I wanted.

And this is why I hate sweetgums

:likebutton: I think that’s the same mower I have Dave, I bought ours used for $100 and sharpen blade once a year (my lawn takes 10 mins to mow). I drain gas tank every fall and so far it starts up every spring.

You can’t go wrong with a Honda. I bought one in 1996 and then sold it to my BIL in 2002 who used it for 5 years and gave it to my dad who used it for another 5

It’s the same mower I had as a kid, used it until I got angry and wrecked it over a water meter. They are solid mowers

A friend of mine Dave was a retiring first sergeant on terminal leave. He was cutting a tree like that a couple days before he was to become a civilian. the tree came down before he thought because it was rotten. Almost hit his boy! At the last moment he shoved his son out of the way and that fell on him and killed him on the spot. 1SG David Garrity came to the 160th as a PV2. He served his entire career in the same unit finishing as the first sergeant of the unit he first joined. When the van pulled up and he got out I was the first pilot in the unit he ever saw and saluted. Although a lower rank enlisted guy, we were sort of buddies. He would somehow usually end up crewing my bird. I watched him develop into a fine NCO.

Trees are nothing to take lightly.

Good choice on then mower Dave. I have a commercial Honda that I bought new as a kid in 1998 (I was mowing lawns throughout the neighborhood) for $750 and I still run it to this day. The metal deck is so much better than the new plastic ones. Replaced the carb twice and need to replace some transmission parts but my yard is mostly flat so it’s good exercise.

I think it’s a good addition, need to take that snapper mower back. To much space in my garage

I have to disagree on the plastic deck. Never a problem on the one I had in early 1990s.

One thing I always liked about the Honda was the 2 blade mulching system. It made super fine mulch out of the grass

Planning out our summer vacation. Since we had to cancel the Florida trip and Zane will have the mandatory Nebraska history class in school next year we decided to go on a trip around the state. This will be a fun and educational trip for all of us. For instance I didn't realize there was a German POW camp in Nebraska during WWII. We will trace parts of the Oregon trail and see many other land marks and historical sites. We will be out for a good 10-12 days.

Since we will be real close to the black hills I found a campground near Custer SD that can accommodate our big rig. They even have rental cars so we got that for a couple days. 2 days unlimited mileage for $110.  We will hit Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse for sure. I want to go to Deadwood and see a few other things.

We will be doing a lot of hiking and I am prone to twisted ankles. I blew both them out in high school football years ago. I can twist it way farther than a normal person and it not hurt, but sometimes all it takes a step on a small rock the wrong way and I'm down.  I need to get my back pack put together with the proper stuff to take care of that on a trail. I have instant Ice packs and wrap along with a small first aid kit. I ordered a brand new pair of Salmon hiking boots. My 3rd pair so far. I love them but man they are getting pricey. Well look like they are on sale now. Should have waited a little while.

Funny you say that Ken... my mower has the shaft drive, no belt slippage. I would stand on the deck and then reach back and engage the drive wheels and ride it up my culdesac at the end of the day. :)

Maybe that accounts for the transmission issue I have now...

Charles, my favorite feature is the blade brake.

You’d be surprised.  It was not in the upper rpm range at all and probably closer to 12-14 mpg

I get 22 easy on the highway unloaded at 75

Jr. Was referring to the 8.1l specifically. Not sure what the first year for 400hp trucks were.

My 6.2 is 420hp with the 8 speed. I just wish it didn’t have the nanny governor on it. Defueling at 94 while passing in a 75mph zone gets dicey.

I hear they did that because the driveshaft can explode. Tempted to upgrade the driveshaft and tune it. If I open Pandora’s box it might end up converted to LT4 supercharger and 600 hp.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.
