Kimbers are nice. Many of the guys had 45s but carried 5 mags!!

Cleaned the pool filters for the 3rd time this week. Added 80lb salt and cleaned the cover. I had let it go BAD with my little issues. Kicked my but but the pool looks great and the kids are happy. Flushing the solar heater after I get a fitting tomorrow. Think the algea has it plugged.

My bro had a bagg phon when the 880 feel on him.

That remains to be seen on the phone thing. But my old trusty one is clearly on it's last leg. I miss my bag phone..these new ones have no range at all. Kay has a super fancy G7 or something...it's almost useless if you stray more than 10 miles from a tower.

Analog vs digital explains the range doesn't it? Freed up a ton of bandwidth by switching to digital, same with OTA television...

well, sunday was spent cutting the grass, weed eating, edging and getting this here tree cleaned up so that it can breath again and not look like a pile of spilt boo boo.

then I spent a little time on this here massive machine removing some garbage compost piles from my yard as well as using the back hoe part to rip out a 10' x 10' area of neglected pile of spilt boo boo black berry bushes.

I think Nate wins the fun award....anything involving a backhoe is fun LoL

Ever since they went "4G" here about two weeks ago, cell service in fringe areas (anywhere not in town) seems to have deteriorated badly. Maybe I will just go without a phone...I'd have less to do then if no one could find me LoL

My wife took today off work...I don't imagine we will get much done LoL

Just get a cheap $20 phone and slip in your sim card. Get you by a few months. Have to do that with my wife, she losses them and breaks em all the time.

Yep, he does look like a gorilla on there, but fun.

I really haven't done anything this whole week. Last week I traded a guy my 91 suburban for his 88 F250 with 7.3 diesel. 2 wheel drive. Extended cab long box. He even threw in 300 bucks because the brakes were weak. I put a master cylinder on it and got brakes now. Discovered it had a bad wheel bearing. Changed that. I built a gate for my chicken pen. My neighbors kid is in collage. He got this John Deere 50 he wanted to sell. I talked my boss into buying it because I didn't have 1500 in cash laying around. My brother and I changed the fluids in it. . Then I got my boat out and cleaned it up. Today im going to fiddle with the motor and try to get it running again and maybe go fishing. We went and set some minnow traps. I should go check them this morning. I know that sounds like a lot but i did most of that in one day. I spent a day and a half sitting on the couch watching tv waiting for the mud to dry.

I know someone is going to say finish that smoker!   I got a bunch of stuff tacked together. I cant weld for crap. I can weld and it does hold but it aint pretty. Its just one of those things im not good at.  My brother does all the farms welding.  I would just go a head and do it but i want it to look nice.  We both have adult ADHD. HE is worse and lost interest. For now. Some day. I hope soon, I will come to work Monday morning to find he got bored on Sunday and welded it all up.

Well it's almost noon on Friday so time to start the weekend properly. I spent from about 4am-7am mowing ditches. Spent a few minutes arguing with a pivot, and then wrapped the day up bonding with some 5wire fence. Hopefully my wife will call it a day soon and we can wander down to Mom's with a few ton of river rock and do some shoveling, and get her new flower bed done.

I sent 50ish rounds through Kay's new Kimber for her to make sure it feeds/fires as it's supposed to. I am growing attached to that thing,it's quite the shooter.

Grinders are for cave men!

I use flap wheels!  ;-))

Speakin' of welders...I think I am going to invest in a flux core mig unit for the farm. I need something down there with all the stuff I seem to be breaking like every time I go down there...I think a flux core machine of modest means would be the right answer.

I like this concept of using other folk's threads to carry on side bar conversations...even startin' whole new conversations... (double wink)

Sounds like a great idea Don. Maybe a portable tank unit too?

Have to grind those bevels for welding.

We had a complete setup on the ranch I worked at, all on a skid. Pick it up, take where needed.

Get a small utility trailer and mount it up in there (or in the back of the buffalo) then drag where needed,

Tank unit as in acetylene?

I figure over time I will upgrade things. That puts the location of the plasma Hypertherm 45 down there in the wilderness.

By the time I finish building in a city there, it will look like something Robinson Crusoe built and need constant repair!

Plasmas are nice, but need support to work. Ox/Ace will work anywhere, fast and you can heat and bend things.

I'd say no to trailer, to easy to steal. Make at least work for it after hot wiring one the the pieces of equipment. Skid is a good idea, make it fit in back of pickup......

I'm with JR. A torch set is way better for all things ranch related.
Need to heat a cylinder pin on Sarge to drive it out. ...or cut it out..remove rusted parts....rosebud heat/bending....lighting your cigar (Mr Hannibal )....coat hanger welding when the mig  fails....and most importantly, brazing/soldering the still........

First thing I would say is bigger is better but that it is not really portable even though it is on a cart.

This comes to mind for grab and go;

Installed a LLY filter head on the LB7 along with new 1/2 300psi flame resistant hose. To the FICM and CP3. Used a merchant auto spacer too. Then installed 3 inch blocks and u bolts to lower the back 2 inches. Sits pretty level now. May drop the front 1 inch. Mowed the yard at the hide. Burned under brush. Welded a new stand for the feeder and some 4ft stakes out of no 6 rebar and bolted it to the ground. I bet that pig won't knock this one over. Also planted some landscape plants at the hide that I moved from the house. Now eating a burger

Hate to be the one that mentions this...but with some skill you can weld with the oxy set up as well.

I have a stick welder/8k gen set combo. I snagged it at a auction for $700 because the engine didn't run (old gas) Not much it can't melt together out in the middle of nowhere. I have even used it to sever plate steel when the oxy setup I also carry had a empty bottle. I also always carry leads and dry welding rods in the tractors. The amount of busted things I have melted together using HD jumper cables and a few batteries in some field is epic LoL Why walk all the way across miles of field to get the pickup to weld, when I have juice and cables and rods handy?

Oh yeah what I did today: I spent almost all day splitting wood. And in the process had a revelation and decided I might make a 30hp press brake... just cause a wood splitter should do something besides split wood.

Truck looks good!

I finished the ridge cap on a storage shed this morning, not very happy with my job. I rushed it night before last trying to get it laid all except that cap & my edge cuts along the drip edge aren't very uniform. It won't leak and is laid straight, definitely a 20' job with edge cuts & good enough for who it's for which is me. If it bothers me too much I'll spend $200 & re lay it I suppose. Then spent day doing a whole lot of nothing more than grocery shopping & attended a brewery event that was highlighting a new smoked meat company in town. Good food & music.....

Old off roaders trick Norm. I carried the same with some good ol 6011 and it would do wonders.

Barbed for the kids tonite. Made em a promise that when I could walk a little I would burn some meat.

Then filled water balloons for a scout meeting tomorrow.

Yah Jr, welding with batteries is old skool...long before off-roading I suppose.. since my grandfather swore ya didn't need "no dumb machine" to weld. Then again, he taught me how to run a forge and make horseshoes at age 8. I guess I am getting old LoL

The welder is great for occacioal use. If we used it everyday I would want something else. I guess we use the air compressor more than anything.

Ok I have been slacking keeping up to date here... so quickly. Last few days have been busy...my wife took her 2 day class and is now qualified to be a basic pistol instructor and do CCW classes.

She did very well and shot her 15 yard qualifying 10 shot group at just over 3". Not shabby for cut rate .380 ammo and a Kimber Micro I felt. Of course she thought it was sub standard but that's normal..

We graduated another daughter from HS...so down ta two now in HS.

I may have bought a Earth mover...

So life's about normal... hopefully tomorrow will be less busy, and I can think about which truck to build.

Finally took the winter tires of HH6's car. While up in the air an oil change was due, thermostat, and finally the passenger wheel bearing. Bearing was still ok but the pesky anti stop brake sensor broke a wire last year, and now the bypass repair is getting flakey. So now I still need to splice in some new connectors or see if I can find the Delphi ones and rebuild the OEM plug.
Wished I'd remembered I butchered it up that bad, I just placed a mouser electronics order to redo the trailer plug harness.

I have a couple old ones somewhere from hubs on the max, will those work? May even have a sensor, just can't seem to throw stuff away.

No, unfortunately it is on the vehicle side that I had to splice into...
I have some waterproof connectors, just debating which way I want to go.
