Hello everyone, my name is Matthew and I live in north Georgia. 

I'm a Christian, a novice prepper, radio hobbyist, motorcyclist and outdoor enthusiast.  Recently got myself a little convertible sports car, enjoying it greatly.

I stumbled over this website on my other regular forum, BadWeatherBikers.com where somebody cross-posted a link to the Duramax forums showing Don's green bug-out truck being built, and was intrigued enough to head over here.

I like what I see here, and hope to be a valuable addition to the community.

I live in Sugar Hill, about 30 miles north of Atlanta.  Enjoying the "country" lifestyle, relatively speaking since I moved here from Long Beach, California... lived in SoCal most of my life, and while it has it's charms, I'm definitely not looking back.

California has it's rugged terrain from mountains to sea, but the problems in it's government and overall regulatory climate were finally just too much.  I doubled my income, doubled the size of my house, and cut the mortgage by over 60% all in one fell swoop.  Also when I go outside at night, I hear frogs and see actual stars in the sky... something I used to have to travel for several hours to accomplish on the west coast. 

Yeah, quality of life is great... but now that I'm involved in the local politics, our Governor Nathan Deal is letting me down left and right, caving in to the prog-libs and bowing to Hollywood and Disney when it comes to religious liberties.  We're going to stay in it until our youngest finishes high school, and will be looking North towards Tennessee or perhaps the Carolinas at some point.  It's not time to pull the rip cord... yet.

I was more or less raised in SC too, Laguna Hills/El Toro. I am up in nor cal now and this state is in real trouble, wish I could up and leave.

I've got a lot of family around the Bay Area, from Santa Cruz to Los Gatos to Richmond and Daly City.

I was actually born in Hayward, and spent my youngest years tramping around on BART... summers we camped in Plumas Eureka State Park and Yosemite.  Weekends were at Half Moon Bay or anywhere on the coast.

I miss the beach, and real mountains... what passes for mountains here in Georgia are like gopher mounds in California... but it's all green, so many trees it boggles the mind.  I love the granite everywhere, red clay earth, lakes and streams, and lots of rain.  Oh yeah, we have actual seasons here too.  All four of them!
