Adventure with a purpose

(1/1)

Don's trip planning and our recent trip to I had an idea and wondered if anyone has done this before and give some advice. The wife and I just returned from Yellowstone as we drove around and looked at the wonders that God created with no CELL SERVICE and other people not respecting and taking care of this wonders place, I asked one of the Rangers if they had a program where people could volunteer to help maintain the National parks. They directed me to this site https://www.nps.gov/getinvolved/volunteer.htm (ok how do you post a link?) or told be to contact and ranger station. The idea was to take my to grandsons and son to one of the National parks work hard all day, sleep in a tent and have them work on their survival skills that I have passed along to them.

That is the idea so here is the question has anyone done any of this type of volunteer work?

My youngest sister and I would head up to Fire Mtn boy scout camp each year in the offseason usually early spring late winter and spend the weekend clearing trails and making general repairs with all the OA guys. Same group would do a yearly coastal clean up at Lake Ozette/Yellow banks and hike out with 40-50lbs each of garbage from Japan. Pretty amazing place and pretty rewarding keeping it amazing.

Pretty standard practice to get involved with save the trail organizations to pick up trash etc on off road trails at least once a year. Oxygen thieves suck, same story 10% screw it up for rest of us....
