Nice gun!

Ground Hogs...

I grew up shooting those things.

Shot a .222 Rem, a 6mm, and a .243.

Best shot was about 350 yards with a 10 mph crosswind. Saw him next to a fence post....

I purchased the same package about 4 years ago.  Have put a lot or rounds through it and have shoot several raccoons from across the cornfield with it.

I wasn't real happy with the clearness of the scope.  I belief that scope it the Buckmaster 2, Nikon's cheapest scope option.  I swapped it out for a Nikon Prostaff last year and am much happier with how clear the glass is now.  Managed to sell the original scope at work for $125 I think so I only had about $50 into the Prostaff.

That should be some good long distance communication.

I have that same rifle in 308, I like it. Solid purchase, congrats.

Swapped optic and rings, still have to mount new rings and scope actually. Got Talley rings and a Nikon Monarch going on here shortly... It's on the list of to-dos :)

SS and composite, nice combo all around.

Guess I should build my AR since I got the last parts now.

It isn't a true Stainless barrel.  Just some type of stainless coating.  I wasn't aware of that when I bought mine.  My dad recently picked up the same package in 22-250 this last spring.  He was told it was told this so I followed up with Savage and it is only some type of stainless coating.

The true stainless model 16 is roughly double the price, without optics or rings. Has the accustock too

Of course his is the best! Right in the middle, mine are top to bottom on the right. I was laughing too much to hold tight, not bad for $600 gun out of the box!

Nice purchase! Your Dad is old school 22-250. I love that round. I used to build water towers in my younger days and after work we would sit up on the high scaffolding and shoot ground hogs in the farm fields around the site. They never knew where the shots were coming from and they would just sit there and look around when their neighbor became missing.  :)  We used it for coyotes in Colorado at night. Fun.

Well got first wack at one of my woodchucks last night! What a job that 223 does compared to my 10-22 I've been using all these years!! Not a long shot only about 65 yrds but planted that chuck right in his tracks!! I Love this rifle!!

Ooh! Red mist!
I've been know to use my 300 win mag to create red mist in the past.
A heck of a lot more effective for sure.

Converts ground hogs directly into mulch in one step I'd wager!
