Yeah. I knew it had no valve. Was just hoping. Lol.

Pulling this one.
It’s from my spare LBZ.
Rebuilding.
Then swapping.

Let’s me keep my needed truck and limit downtime to the swap day(s).
I should be good at it by then. Lol
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Well today I cleaned and organized parts I have laying around for the LBZ.

Found a stock set of headlights (GM) winter cover, turbo boot, some lower turn signal lights and loads of HID replacements lights of the single nature.

Put the stuff altogether with a large folder full of every receipt and purchase part from GM for his records.

I tossed on the ARE Tonneau cover to get it out of my hair, pulled the license plates off and will park it back in the garage in prep to send it down the road on Saturday
Pulled the brand new never mounted full size spare out, tossed it in the bed also. A gallon of new amsoil I had on the shelf for it also. Checked fluids snd closed the hood for the last time.

Purchase price is $25k, I did tell him $100 for the bed cover, $350 snd I’ll have the driver seat fixed before he drives it home to New Mexico.   He opted for both of those.

Dropped the new truck off to have them put the 3” level kit on it, mount previous tires snd wheels on snd I’ll pick that up in a day or two. Until then drive the VW Etta

Also put some carpet in the Mack as I’m tired of trying to scrub off tar and tack from asphalt paving off my floor mats

It’s only slightly ghetto

One last question for the group

PO677 code, glowplug ok got it, changed it.  Still having same code.  Suggestion? Thoughts?
Did the dealer sell me a bad glowplug? Does that happen?

Dunno on the glow plug Dave.
Doesn’t make sense that it would be a dud.
Could be a bad wire. I’m actually quite scared for the project I’m in the middle of for bad broken wires.

I think I have the motor ready to pull.

Nine aweful trans bell housing bolts out.
Six ridiculous to access torque converter bolts out.
All six bazillion ground points off.
Six motor mount bolts left.
Insert trans jack cause it looks like it’s gonna fall.
Jerk the LBZ free.

I don’t know how you keep all the hardware straight.

I also don’t know how ya can do that in a timely manner. I can’t finish a project no matter how small lol dirt bike in parts, ATV in parts, enclosed partially done, flatbed conversion rusting away.

Yeah I’m not sure I’ll have to do some wire searching see what I can chase down.  It’s not a two ware plug its just a single eyelet and I think beaded wire isn’t it?

I’d ditch the leveler. Just made it more difficult because of the angle of the chains.

Hope it separates from the trans easier than mine did. The dowel pins hold it really well.

A 2x4 across the torsion bars is a great trans support.

Hardware goes back in the hole it came out of, or in a labeled ziploc bag. Wiring connectors get a “toe tag”, but only if you’re OCD like me :D

Then you did #8.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Probably have a good glow plug in the garbage if the nut threaded off.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

This.
I didn’t tie tag the harness.
May regret that later.
But I do have a reference one. My buddy has one and there are a couple others if I were really in a pinch.
I have a trans jack to support the trans.
It will come out soon after as well.
May ditch the rear crossmember to aid in dowel separation.

Hopefully the leveller is ok otherwise may ditch it.

Timeline for me is driven by my location Dave.
800 miles from machine shops make getting it done fast important.

So it’s out.
Ryan splitting was a pain.
Loosened the trans crossmember to make more wiggle. Couple strategic pry bars and it finally yielded.

It went onto the engine stand in the garage. The driveway is soft. Poor asphalt. Oh well not mine.

Pressure washed it and back inside on engine stand.

What are these torqued to?
My big boss Milwaukee won’t even touch them.
Suggestions to loosen please.

And this thing had some oil leaks.
I believe power steering and hydro boost to be the main culprits.

Tomorrow is tear down.
Need to get info to the machine shop for head gaskets and injectors so they have.

This has been my motivation.
He needs a week to ten days if they don’t stock to get them in.

I’m heading out 5 August returning 11 August.
Dave the owner has assured me they can do it with a weeks heads up that I’ll be there.

They are not open weekends so that leaves three days. He had no concern if I needed crank and block work for that turnaround. So I’m happy as a pig in poop.
As long as it all works out the following week will be the build.

Heat the bolts? Probably have threadlocker on them, but Ken will know best.

You have it on an engine stand that doesn’t hold it by the adapter plate, right? That plate can’t hold the weight.

Still on the crane too.
I’ll fix that but need to get the flywheel off to do so.

Torch is going to get used tonight.

I don't remember. If I have something that won't come loose, air powered tools get used over electric.
I especially like using the 3/4" Ingersoll with a 1/2" air hose

I could bring home a 1” bohemoth but that seems like overkill.
My Milwaukee is 1100 ft/lbs. breaking torque.
This is the first thing it couldn’t break or loosen.
2862 M18 FUEL, for anyone that is interested.
They have a bigger one now too.

I’ll do a heat soak to break down the loctite.
If that doesn’t work I’ll have to get mean.

My poor little PC is just 33o, but does well for most.

Last day in Hawaii, going as you would think with my clan. Kids got the dedroom (2 beds) we are sleeping on an air mattress as the foldout feels like you are on coil springs.

Swam with the turtles, flea market and drove by Pearl Harbor. No time to stop as wife only got car for 3 out 5 days.

Hotel is a joke, condo is small, wife got the "deal". Called a resort so you pay that "fee", no maid service, no food cept all the other hotels around us.

Took longer to the "covid" bull than to book the flight.

Well it’s coming apart.
All 8 glow plug wires came off without snapping the stud off. First time for me I think.

Man there’s a pile of crap on these things.
And mine is on the lesser end of crap.

The pile ‘O parts is starting.
Tomorrow will be total tear down day. I hope.
Need to talk to machine shop Monday.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Well, the red wrench and my impact. No beuno.
Red wrench, flywheel lock, big Johnson bar. No beuno.

Add my buddy and a 36mm on balancer bolt to counteract the force on three and voila.

Not done alone for me. Watched some YouTube and got that idea.

So you don’t have the flywheel locking tool? Might want to hop on eBay and grab one. You’ll want it for putting them back together.
