vintage camper flat screen mount.
« on: February 17, 2016, 08:09:16 AM »
I got tired of the tube TV and the converter boxes. Yea I got the tube TVs free and I am kinda tight but Ive had enough. Trying to hook the dvd player up for the kids. Then trying to hook up the antenna later. then you gotta find the right source and channel. I get frustrated and have to have the wife do it. She came home the other day to find the TV in the driveway and I'm sitting inside in silence. She said WTF happened here. I said we are getting new TVs.

Bonus points if the TV in the driveway had bullet holes in it....

Nice clever mount for the flat screen
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Good idea, and much better than the $50-100 commercial options.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Nice mount- if not already, use bolts with Loc-tite on the lower (counter) back holes and sizable washers underneath.  Much vibration and shaking going on down the road will pull screws outta particle board quicker than you think.

That is a good point. I don't think that will be an issue. The cabinet top is solid oak. I didn't really want to put holes in it but This was the only way. The plywood I attached the wall mount to is 3/4 inch plywood. I used 1 1/2 torx drive screws. Ive used these same screws on other projects in the camper and never had one come loose. The bolts that hold the wall mount its self to the plywood are 1/4 inch grade 5 with washers and lock washers. The only place there is particle board is in the bedroom. I mounted a smaller 22 inch tv in there.
However I should not have gone so cheap on the mount its self. It likes to wobble. Made for home use I guess. I will have to secure  the TV with a bungee or take it off going down the road. The smaller one in the bedroom don't have that problem.
