Sully was a great movie

Love this one.....

The last thing every pilot does before leaving the aircraft after making a gear up landing is to put the gear selection lever in the 'down' position

Oh yeah and I finally pulled the trigger on this as I couldn't pass up the price. Local gun shop had it for 380, so when I saw the 260 price tag on Natchez I couldn't pass it up.

I have got to get an electronic powder dispenser someday soon. Actually, what I really need is a Dillon.... Any ideas on how to convince my wife that an $800 progressive is a good investment?

Show her the price of 1000 rounds of 5.56 delivered.  Mine paid for itself in about 6000 rounds

Thats the term we use to describe the home building workers, usually hispanic.  THey bang on the houses early in the morning.  Thus woodpeckers....

If you were closer, I'd give you my portable gas tank I used when I had my boat.  Something like this but mine doesnt have the pump.  It holds 30 gallons.  Fill at the station and then gravity feed from dock

Wyo, thanks. I would not worry about how much ammo I had. My go to rounds will still be 5.56, .45 , 12ga, and .308. I would keep only maybe 1000 rounds of .300 rounds on hand just for this single purpose. Good news is that by buying a 5.56 barrel I can swap back and forth between calibers with only a small investment.

In texas you can not conceal a long gun. And the weapon I visualize is tiny.  QD barrel and folding buffer tube. Probably less than 12 inches

Firearms / Rethinking vehicular and packable weapons systems
« on: June 05, 2017, 08:24:00 AM »
The events in Europe of the last three months have caused me to rethink my chosen weapon system for EDC.  Typically I CC a Glock 23 (.40, midsize).  With the recent events of vehicular terrorism in the UK and knowing that our past politicians embraced some of the same sick people to come to the US, it is unfortunatley only a matter of time before we see the same in the US.  The seeds were sown long ago in the 60s, but starting with Clinton in the mid 1990s the refugees began to pour in from Muslim countries.  It is now only a matter of time (I estimate 10 years or less) before these types of attacks become commonplace in the US.

http://www.thesocialcontract.com/pdf/twentythree-four/tsc_23_4_gibson_3.pdf
http://cis.org/USMuslimImmigrants

With this in mind, I believe that there is a need for more powerful weapons system on ones person or vehicle.  In Texas you cannot conceal a long gun the way you can a pistol.  In the past, I thought the concept of and AR platform pistol was a novelty and a waste of resources.  Given the recent events and an article I read about AR pistols, I am now embarking on a journey to build an AR PDW pistol.

http://www.alloutdoor.com/2017/05/08/justification-packable-ar15-pistols-vehicles/

I will use this thread as a place to document the build and the decision process associated with parts and as always DOT Bait for the inevitable conversations that ensue.

So here is where my calculus is at the moment.

The foundation will be an AR platform with a very short barrel and a folding buffer tube adapter.  With this set up, I should be able to easily conceal this weapon in the console of my truck and a briefcase or backpack.

http://www.primaryarms.com/law-tactical-ar-folding-stock-adapter-gen-3-m-ltgen3m

The question at the moment is caliber.  Those that have followed some of my musings in the past know that I have chosen to standardize calibers, platforms and parts to keep it simple.   After some reading, I am wondering if the 300 Blackout might be a better choice for such a weapons system.  My criteria for caliber selection would be:

commercially available and reliable feeding with minimal parts modification
ballistically superior from a barrel length of 7.5 inches or less
ability to penetrate winsheilds and unreinforced automotive panels
minute of scumbag accuracy to 75-100 yards
reliability of feeding
lethality in humans

From that I can tell, the 300BK is superior from short barrels and requires the least amount of weapons modifications to run in an AR platform and keeps wear and tear on parts to a minimum.

With that said I do not have any experience with the 300BK so I am open to other options.

I have many lowers in the safe, so I will start with a LPK and the folding buffer tube adapter.

Would appreciate your perspective and thoughts.

We had better wake up!  While liberals want to deride Trump for trying to extreme vett Muslims our political correctness is very likely going to get people killed in the US like the PC garbage of love and inclusion has turned Europe into a killing ground for Islamic terrorists.

We must demand that our government:

1 put the safety of our citizens above refugees.
2. Infiltrate mosques and social media sites frequented by Islamist and  revoke their status or citizenship.
3. Break up neighborhoods that are "no go" areas due to high concentrations of Muslims.
4. Pass a law outlawing the practice of sharia law in the US

I have a camera system in my hide/weekend place. Satellite internet is very expensive to constantly stream up images. My system emails me when it detects motion along with a still shot of the image. Then I can use the app to check in via live stream. Total investment $1500 for 9 cameras and NVR. Cameras have 75ft IR
Only advice is NOT to mount cameras on trees. When they sway in the wind the cameras sense motion

Well i extended my long weekend and took yesterday off.  Made french toast for the girls. Tended to the garden.  Finished mulching it and training some tomato vines.  Pulled up the sugar snap peas.  Harvested some cucumbers and tomatos.  got to get the caterpillars under control.  Sprayed some BT on them but I just realized that BT shoudl not be stored above 90 degrees....so I ordered some more on Amazon.  Then finished stacking all the firewood I split.  Pressure washed the back porch and moved the stained picnic table back out there.  Treated a termite colony I found in the woods and exterminated the outside of the house and inside the shop.  Loaded the smoker I fixed for my dad and took it over to his house and visited them for a while.  Now back to reality

As much as I believe the dems had him whacked, I find this a bit implausible.  Couple of things..

Seth "figures this out" and gets murdered...yet to perpetrate a fraud of this size there had to be hundreds of actors involved.  That's' a lot of people "in" on this fraud.

There are a lot of states that use electronic voting machines.  How would this be accomplished in those states?

Washington is Hillary's playground, for this scheme to benefit her it would have had to be perpetrated in many more states, making this that much more difficult.

I still think he leaked the dnc emails

Yesterday....

applied stain to the table on the back porch...got a little help from the oldest.
Surveyed the washout damage 6 inches of rain in 3 hours did on the driveway
cleaned and organized the shop
took the girls to get ice cream
grilled burgers
watched one of my favorite movies....Man On Fire

Quotables:

"A man can be an artist, at anything food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasy’s art is death.  He’s about to paint his masterpiece."

"Forgiveness is between them and God.  Its my job to arrange the meeting"

It seems that throughout history, the populous gets fat and happy and lazy and then the enemy at the gate strikes.  I fear we are close to that time again. Very few REALLY see the existential threat or appreciate the men and women who go where death is required to preserve freedom.  I am grateful for all those who heeded the call and paid the ultimate price. May it never be in vain.

Scrubbed the outdoor table with tsp and hot water in prep for stain. Rebuilt the mower deck from the catastrophic failure. List of damaged parts: both idler pulleys  idler pulley bracket , one spindle, both blades, and the belt.  Used it to. Mowed all the trails. Welded a hitch on the back of the box blade to use to move trailers and my log splitter. Used log splitter to finish splitting the rest of the logs. Then used the zero turn to mow out by the road. Then grilled some brats. And watched a big bad thunderstorm roll in with big lightning.
