Nate nice unit and great pickup. what's the temp diff between main and side chamber?
Could you cook ribs in the side while a butt or brisket on the main?

today's half ton trucks are every bit as capable as the 3/4 ton trucks of the early millenium.
I have that same tractor and I really like it. That whole set up is probably only 5K, which should be a breeze for a 1/2 ton.
Bear, that's quite the nice result from your efforts. looks good.

First day back at work after an eye problem. Still hurting and suffering from a headache because of it. However, I just had my spirits lifted. Found this on line and plan to order as soon as they are back in stock.. http://cargocollective.com/4thamendment/Metallic-Ink-T-Shirt

OK, tried something new tonight. I get so busy at work that I walk across to a greek restaurant fairly regularly to eat their greek salad with beef and lamb gyro meat. That gets to be expensive multiple times a week at $20 a pop. So I thought I'd try to replicate the salad at home and see if I can save a few bucks.
Leg of lamb:
4.5 lb leg 7 cloves minced fresh garlic zest of 2 lemons juice of 1 lemon 1/3 cup EVOO 1/3 cup red wine 2 tbs chopped fresh oregano 1 tbs grey poupon mustard
Salt and pepper the lamb, rub with the marinade and marinate 3-4 hours or overnight. Place on shallow roasting rack at 375 and roast until well done (the only way the greeks eat their meat) or about 155 internal temp flipping about 3/4 the way through to get browning on both sides.
Salad:
Rough chopped iceberg and romaine lettuce sliced red and green bellpepper thin sliced purple onion thin shredded purple cabbage thin sliced radish grated carrot Chopped fresh oregano Later when assembling the salad:
Add quartered roma tomatos, pepperoncini, pitted kalmata olives, capers and feta cheese.
Greek dressing:
1.5 cups good olive oil 1/4 cup red wine vinegar 2 tbs good balsamic vinegar 1tbs grey poupon mustard 1tbs dried dill 1tbs dried oregano 1tbs black pepper 1tbs sugar 1tbs salt 1tbs garlic powder Juice of one lemon
place in jar and shake well and refrigerate
To serve. Place salad in bowl, add tomatos, capers, olives, pepperoncini, and feta cheese. Drizzle salad dressing and toss. Slice meat very thinly and place on top. Serve with fresh lemon wedges.

In the processes of trying to locate a clogged washing machine drain. All I know is that this drain does not run into the septic tank. It has its own line on a different side of the house, into what I'm assuming is a dry well. So I am wondering, should I cut the line here at the elbow and keep going with the shovel or go rent a mini-ex and replace the whole thing? I have no idea how long or where the line goes from this point. I'm leaning towards the mini.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Its not uncommon for people to discharge grey water away from the septic to keep the volume down. Legality is suspect in certain jurisdictions, but if you know where the line ends, it may just be easier to replace as that looks like a 2 inch pipe?

Well, kids both had sleepovers. This morning I met my buddy for breakfast tacos before the wife got up. Brought her home some breakfast tacos too. picked the kids up from the sleepovers. Had bible study about authority in the christian home. Lots of responsibility. Then the girls and I washed mamma's SUV. ( I changed the air strut yesterday and good news is that it was still inflated this morning) Then I started washing windows inside and out. Much bigger project than I expected or remembered. Some windows had bad water spots on them on the outside. I found that soft scrub cleanser and a sponge worked well. Then wash and use squeegee. Windex and paper towels on the inside. Then replaced some defective flourescent fixtures in the garage with new LEDs. Much better.

Ken how many people realistically did it take to place that concrete, screed and float? Oh, yesterday I put the fifth wheel on consignment and changed an air strut on the wife's SUV. Then took the wife out for dinner and had a 22 oz bone in dry aged prime NY strip. Then invited my neighbor over for some macallen 18 as a send off. His dad was one of the original residents in our neighborhood and passed last year. His son was living with him to take care of him in his last days and just sold the house and is moving to rural AR on 25 acres adjoining the national forest. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Keying on the advertising of being able to cut a 20' log, I forgot to account for the two foot overhang due to the width of the mill head. So...it looks like I am not done building the support base. I think the 6 X 6 beams come in a six foot length, so I'll pick up two of those along with six bags of crete and finish the job. I already added the pieces of wood to be used as splices, I'll add some steel on the other side to strengthen it all up
Don nice progress while I've been MIA. If I may make a suggestion for your needed extension. Cut the existing 6x6 midway over the last support. Double up your 2x6 cross brace on each side of that last support by scabbing another board and then place your extension beam directly on that last support and your additional supports you intend to install. That way your joint is directly over a support. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Question is, wheres charles and the reading on the red bus?
Been traveling for most of 2 weeks. 2001. Just hit 149k. 14 months ago when I rebuilt the suspension it had 130k. I've been running it more especially on the weekends, which was the point of rebuilding. I had been averaging 4K a year until last year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Today I replaced the motor on my AD165II on the LB7. Thanks to pure flow air dog for warrantying it even though I never completed the card. Mowed around the weekend place/hide. Blew up the 22 ho riding mower deck. Parts came off at high speed. Cleaned the trailer and went and picked up a new husqvarna MT52 to finish. Much much better mower. And I just keep racking up the miles on the 2001..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounds like you went from trying to find a used one to The Typical Charles and Ken Co. of Buying the Best and Most Expensive!! lol (I was thinking used, so didn't consider the '17 1000 crew)
Ill just leave this here: Tex: Not looking for a racer. I'm looking for utility. 4 seater with a bed that can be used around the range and hunting and adventure trail riding.
Ranger 900 would be perfecto..no wait....you need a 570.
I will be so pissed if you get the 1000!!
Friendly Fire! Fair enough Ken. I'm just exploring all the options. People on CL seem to want to recoupe all their mod costs too. Seems like the big tire and lift craze extends to UTVs too. I would imagine that those mods are tough on a belt driven CVT? This seems strangely like modifying my dually. You can spend money on mods...but why make a big heavy pig try to do something it's not designed to do.....

So I had the LML give me a wierd error light at a stop light. Small lurch at a stop with foot on the brake. MIL light and a message indicator of "park assist disabled" and it went to 1st gear and stuck there. Pulled codes from the CTS and got P0708 code.
Assumed it was the internal mode switch so went and bought internal and external filters (been 50,000 since I did the double fill and drain Transynd conversion) and 3 gallons of transyd. Spent most of the morning under the truck removing the valve body and replacing the internal mode switch. Got it all buttoned up and.......
no movement, not even first gear. Now a different error "shift inhibited shift to neutral to reset" with the indicator blinking...with no MIL light.
didnt have time to mess with it so I called AAA to put it on a roll back to my buddies house.
He tested the harness, the solenoids and the power to the TCM.....verdict....dead TCM.
New one on the way for $300....
Hope to get the dually back when I get back from Dallas next week.

75mph 130 hp ranger crew??? WTH?
6947
« on: May 04, 2017, 06:36:27 PM »
Thanks Ken,
So the crew is now available in 1000 cc 80hp, essentially the same engine in the general and razor.
The box is smaller on the general, it has 2 inches better suspension travel, slightly larger tires, better seats.
Ranger has bigger box, larger payload and larger towing capacity.
Another interesting fact seems to be that the general weights more than the ranger which would seem to mean that the power/weight ratio would favor the ranger and perhaps acceleration also.
Of course, the 900 ranger crew has 68hp, which seems to be better than average.
So $3000 for 12 hp? not sure its worth it.
Then I wonder if I need the capability of the ranger or the sportiness of the general.

Thanks for all the comments and PMs. Keep them coming.
So far I can't find many UTVs that have the towing and hauling capacity, and speed and power that the ranger crew 1000 does. Met an EMS crew today that had one (900cc) and they raved about it after 5 years of use. I like the idea of a diesel since most equipment I have is diesel but they seem really under powered.

How hard is it to change a belt?
Do I really need 68 hp?
Do I need power steering?
Is diesel a worthwhile consideration ?
