How else do you keep the sun from fading the paint job on the shed?

Knucklehead. Those sheds get 145* plus.

Sorry I don't have the Ritz for a shop like you.

I just got notified the boyscouts now has a "diversity" merit badge that is now required to obtain Eagle. Boy scouts has left me, Its more about not offending than being a scout now.

I have less and less interest as do the boys. Covid is not helping on online meetings are dull.

Not very inspiring words for a new leader in training. I have my first meeting this coming Thursday.

Jon, it would be good if you could quit in en masse. Aside from that maybe quit and get the boys into other things such as appleseed (see below), precision rifle shooting, martial arts etc depending on age.

 https://appleseedinfo.org/

I would second the appleseed or 4 H (they have shooting stuff not sure if that is normal)I had a friend that his son was very competitive in air rifle and in his sophomore year he had several colleges knocking down his door with big scholarships. Note many kids like to shot now.

I already asked what happens to the gear if the toop disbands. It would all go to the charter sponsor. The Eagles club. We have a 30 ft enclosed trailer full of gear, 4 canoes on a trailer and a decent bank account.
I will teach their feel good  merrit badges but I can still teach some good old school vlaues.

We are down to about 20 scouts now. About 1/2 will eagle out within the year and not much coming in with all the great advertising going on. Boys are signed up for camp this year if it goes.
Our troop really just gets by. We are OK but no real fund raising to speak of vs the christmas tree PU we just did and all that goes to the boys to pay for camp and stuff.
Our leaders are great and just go with the flow. They tried to get me to be troop leader, but I don't have the skills for it so I help as I can.
Still think its a great thing for the boys and we still have all the shooting events and badges.

Man does Fedex suck our what!!

I find the front driveshaft on FBMP about 2 weeks ago for my dmax with the lift and a cardan joint. Really last major piece for the lift (cept for air bags).

So, just got shipped from Scal and cost about $80, plus the $100 for the shaft ($600 retail) that looks new.

Was in my are out for delivery last monday the 4th. Watched traking and it was out for delivery for 6 flipping days! Plus you pay MORE for home delivery now! Been trying to call but it is always a machine doing the same tracking info you get online, giving you the same info. No way will you ever talk to a real person!!

So today (sunday the 10th) it shows up. Box is mangled, shaft is hanging out, even the tab is broken off the ujoint! I will follow up on this, I do not fault the seller but I think he could have packed better.

I used to really like Fedex, this time thye really sucked and charged way to much for a 40lb item going 300 miles.

Our fed ex guy use to be horrible. He would want to leave stuff in town. No dude we paid for delivery to the house. We have had our current driver for a couple years and he does a good job.
I've lived here for going on 20 years and still have the same ups driver.

I'm very thankful for this forum and group of men today. Went to a gun forum this morning, I had been a member for a very long time but just going to a very few threads. Looked around the forum today and they have allowed it to turn almost a porn site. I don't need that in my life. The world wide web is ugly so I think I will come back in where it is safe.

Dave,

Totally agree with you. My wife can open up any device I have if she wanted to. I was shocked at the moderators allowed that kind of stuff. I didn't even have to open the threads up. When they are so proud to put Not Safe For Work in the title told me I didn't want to go there

My wife wouldn't agree with a lot that goes on here. She is happy at what is going on out there.

She watched 20/20 last night where they crucified Trump. I left and said if they only put half the effort in what biden has done.

Now this thing with parlor being shut down, whats next?

Got 5 inches of snow at the hide yesterday.  First ever even flurry in nearly 6 years.

Kids were mad we weren’t there to see it, but momma took pictures.  Then as usual, with the heavy snow, branches were snapping left and right so the power went out at 5pm yesterday.  Didn’t think much about it because it goes out a lot and their website said it would be up at 3am.  Well it was still not on and many many outages in the area told me it would be a while.

So I canceled some meetings and took off up there to get the generator out and connected for the wife unit and filled both the 5 gallon cans from the 55 gallon drum for her and showed her how to safely disconnect everything and flip the mains and breakers back on.  Since I had none of the 240 circuits completed in the shop I had to take time to wire one circuit and 4 wire outlet to back feed the house.

So got there at 11 and got it done and left at 1:30 just in time for the drive back and 3 conference calls.  Just got the call that the power came back on at 6:15 so didn’t even have to burn a full tank.

Now on the hunt for a automatics standby genset.

I took a few pics on my way up and then when I had to get the tractor to pick up the 55 gal drum of fuel.

Took one look at the seat on my tractor and thought, hmm.  Never had to deal with this before..

I use fb too much to get rid of it. Messenger, marketplace, groups. Preppers, livestock/chickens, camping etc. It has become a tool for me. Having a kids birthday party we make a thing on fb. It tells everyone at one time. Otherwise I have to call 20 people and talk to each for 20 minutes minimum. Sure I could do email but I have 22,000 unread emails. I wold bet my friends have that many or more.

Dave, I doubt we could be affected. I purchase storage, as in I own it, and the server for a year at a time. I pay between $600-$700 annually for that, so I actually own it. Additionally we are small enough that I have considered just installing my own server in me casa where someone would have to cancel my hard line, electricity, or something like that to remove

Similar to gold and silver, if it’s not in your physical possession, you don’t truly own it. Unless you know the person whose server this place is hosted, it could easily be shut off, a matter of a few clicks I’d wager.

If the ISPs get involved, all bets are off everywhere.

I think I’ll leave my Gmail alone, I don’t have a Twitter. I use Instagram but not for much, could go with out it.

Is this site in a spot where it could be closed down?   Is it small enough they would gloss over it?

So, T, what...start saving for a server?
It would certainly eliminate one of the two who have the ability to shut you down. If the other of the two, isp, start controlling things, it won’t make a difference where the server is. If it gets to that point, there are bigger problems to worry about.

Did you see ar15dotcom got nuked by godaddy? They also were given 24hr to move to different host, which I think they managed to do.

Picked this up from the mail box today.  Really smooth action.  It apparently has a ball bearing pivot

Yesterday was our anniversary so had flowers delivered to her office. She deserves so much more for putting up with me.

Well today I took a step forward and accepted a job at a local plumbing store

It meets my time requirements.  He doesn’t want me to work 55 hour weeks, he can be flexible with family needs and it’s not a 45 min drive to work and back. In fact the freeway isn’t even needed.

I will pretty much be the runaround guy.  Not anything specific, drive here, deliver that, stock this.

He need help in the mornings unloading shipping trucks and getting stuff on the smaller trucks

Plan is 9-12 each day and see how home life changes

Paying me a good bit more then I was mentally prepared for, which is nice.
It’s a good family run company so we’ll give it a go

Told him I’d give it two week trial and see if we all fit together.

You still get that floating check in the mail while the mail system still works.

But yes.  I still need interaction with the outside world and sadly Ken Sean and jr and so forth don’t post enough to fill that void so I have had to venture else where.

It should be enough to support my gun habits ( those have gotten bad), my motorcycle habits, trailer dreams and so forth

You know, I see aircraft every day still, but I sure miss seeing those. They would fly the east range of ft huachuca, coming out of Tucson. Lots of training runs over there.
