$850 isn't bad when you consider a $400 hitch plus another $650-$1300 for a bumper elsewhere.
Found the curt on amazon for just under $200

Silly me, I was looking at the MSRP of the Curt XD on their website at $443...  :knucklehead:

Am I crazy for thinking I'd want the commercial duty hitch with the 2.5" receiver.... just 'cause? I don't have the need for a 2.5" ball mount and would run the adapter sleeve 99% of the time... but bigger is better, right??  But the decision is probably made in that it looks like it hangs down a lot farther than the XD.

I hadn't thought of the size of the shaft being different.  All my hitchs are two inch.  Most are of these fashion

That number sounds familiar.
The specs look same also.
I'll check mine tomorrow when I get to the truck.

Simple no hassle install.

2" receiver is correct. 2.5" is a pain in the butt if you ask me, have to use those dumb spacers to reduce down to 2" for the shanks you already have and they clunk around like crazy.

I got and Andersen Rapid hitch with 2" and 2 5/16" no-grease balls, never leaves the truck

I personally don't get the 2.5" receivers, not sure of class without looking it up but we always ran the heaviest 2" hitches you could get. For what it's worth I have broke the stock truck hitches more than once but they were not same class as what we always upgraded to.

Thanks for offer Ryan, but already have the reunel and am welding in the 2" receiver. Interference fit between the 1/2 rails and still plan to beef the rear up a little more.

I asked reunel and they said it was rated for 20k like that. My drop hitch is forged so GTG.

Reading the DF thread now, ladders

TRN, it wasn't for a lack of glasses.
I have an inordinate amount of gravel and dirt on my frame.

On that 2.5" hitch that comes on the 11 and up LML trucks

I have often wondered about that myself.

The HD 2" stuff is pretty stout, I've never broken one

So I use a pintle hitch, so try finding one of those built on a 2.5" base!

I just use a Curt 2" Pintle inside the spacer and call it a day

So to answer the question that is the hitch I have on my truck, 15302.
Fit like a dream.

Looking enclosed trailers.  This seems like the load rating is really light!!  Right?

Pretty sure they make an adjustable mount plate welded to a 2.5" receiver tube. Then just bolt on a standard pintle......

Dave, that does look like a heavy rig to have only 3500 lb axles under it. You can only haul a bit over a ton and half legal and it is a wide trailer too. Didn't see any vents on it so could get mighty hot in summer months.

I made a call to a trailer place, I think I will spring for upgraded or heavier axles.  Give me closer to 5k rating.   I'll post the details in the daily what not

That's a good call Dave.
I've all but given up on 3500# axles.
5200-6000 is where I'm at. It's where that trailer needs to be as well.
That's a big trailer for small axles.

My next skidoo trailer axle will be a 5200, I'm tired of bending the lighter ones...

That is a huge trailer for just 7000# gvw. Now if all you do is haul 1 car or play with RC planes, maybe.

Won't help resale in the future either.
