Woke up to some good news here in Alabama. A bill proposing chemical castration for child monsters is on the governors desk.

Quote from representative Steve Hurst: “These things are just horrifying. I’d prefer it be surgical, because the way I look at it, if they’re going to mark these children for life, they need to be marked for life," he said. "My preference would be, if someone does a small infant child like that, they need to die. God’s going to deal with them one day.”

that's actually funny!
We have to use those as backup to the air brakes on the fire trucks. If it works for a 60k lb engine surely it’ll work for Ravin8.

Realizing this is a stupid question, I stand prepared for a dressing down.

In its intended application, was there a provision for e brake and why can you not source original parts?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve thought the same, but didn’t ask because I wasn’t sure if the question was ingeniously simple or my would only further reveal my ignorance on the matter.

I’ve also wondered if a phone call to Dana would be of any help.

Happy birthday Jon.
Our pipes and drums band had our first public performance yesterday and a Combat Medic Statue dedication. Could’ve been better, but also could’ve been much worse considering we’ve only had our pipes for 2 months.

Depends on how big you want your fire/flames. A grate and some holes between the ground and the grate to let it draw air from the bottom will make bigger fire. Without it it’ll act like a fire on the ground.

Check northern and HF. They sell those Honda engines

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep. It is already in the trash. I replaced the pump a couple of seasons ago. It was rode pretty hard by my next door neighbor gardener in NJ. He put many hours on it.

I kind like the HF ones with the predator engine. Seem to have good ratings. Similar with Honda is only $100 more on Amazon though so it might be worth sticking with Honda.

Axle in and hanging!

Finally!
This may be a dumb question but I’m gonna ask it anyway. With the u-bolt flipped, is there any chance of those nuts backing off and causing trouble on a remote trail somewhere? With the exception of welding tables everything you build looks heck for stout has built in fail safes. I guess my real question is, for Murphy’s sake, would another nut torqued down on top of those u-bolts hurt anything?

Thanks for the info Jon. Our do the same thing with the nesting boxes except we have one goober that’ll lay her right on top of the pile of crap. I’m planning on being able to remove or fold down a section of the boxes so they can be cleaned out easily.

My guess is that he was probably anticipating recoil and pushing shots to the left. Those factory sights are plastic and most consider them temporary anyway. Playing devils advocate to my own point, I put almost 10k rounds through my first model 17 and it still has the plastics sights in it.

I’m a fan of using the slide stop/catch to release the slide. The Vickers extended stop is a worthwhile upgrade if you go that route.

So I could pick up a 9mm barrel and switch to that?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You’ll find them by searching 9mm conversion barrels. They basically a bull barrel where the outside diameter meets specs for the .40 slide but they’re chambered in 9mm. Mags for the Glock 17 are the ones you’ll need to run with the conversion barrel. The only problem I remember with the model 22 is that some people experienced failures after attaching a light to them. Some had it, some didn’t. The only way to tell is to hang a light on it and shoot it. My issued 22 didn’t have any trouble with a light but some others did. $400 is fair given the situation.

Long overdue for an update here. We started with 21 hens and one rooster. The rooster died of some unknown causes (maybe living with 21 women). 5 of the hens got killed last summer by a raccoon which I caught in a live trap a couple days later. Couldn’t talk anybody else into eating it if I cooked it and wasn’t going to do anything with the hide so I drove it to the mountain and turned it lose by a creek. 5 miles as the crow flies and raccoon heaven so he hasn’t been back.

Stayed that way until two weeks ago. Last day of vacation I talked to my neighbor and told him he could let the chickens out before he went to work. By the time we got home around 1400 five were dead in the yard and one was MIA. No way to know for sure but I suspected a fox that we used to see every now and then. After that I only let them out when I was home and outside to keep and eye on them. This evening I let them out while I had some chicken and salmon on the Traeger. My wife was finishing up some kabobs so I took the baby upstairs to start her bath. When we came back downstairs the fox was 20’ off of our back porch chewing on a live Buff Orpington. When he saw us he ran across the street and sat down in a wood line behind my neighbors house. I hauled butt across the street with my favorite varmint rifle and propped up against his porch. Clean shot at a stationary target maybe 70 yards away and I freakin missed. Thought I saw fur fly and was caught off guard when he took off. Took another crack at him on the run and missed again. I had called Dan (Vietnam sniper and an all around great guy) and told him what I was doing beforehand. He was watching out the window and said I gave him a haircut with the first shot. Scorecard as of 2100 is:
7 living layers
11 chicks in a brooder
3 dead chickens in a freezer to use as bait
1 fox that got his ears lowered
1 seriously mad woman
1 man who’s in trouble for not finishing a fence and who thinks he needs more trigger time.

True, but there is something strapped to his right hip. Even if it’s just a pair of pliers, they could be weaponized. I’m sure Jon could find a creative way to explain that process to the young lad.

First, remember those mirrors Dave pointed me to?

Well, let's put them on!
We put that same set on a coworkers 2016 6.0 farm truck a few months ago. Install was a little more involved because the whole door panel had to come off and there was an optional fourth screw that required drilling another hole in the door. They seem like a good product.

My wife’s uncle shared some interesting fishing stories during our visit. They were tremendously entertaining due to his gift of story telling. I don’t share that gift but I will hit the high points.

He spent a lot of time fishing off of Paris island when stationed there years ago. After constantly having lines broken he bought a spool of 100lb test and a deep sea rod. One day he hooked into a 6’ wide, 115lb stingray and kicked off a 2 hour fight to get it to shore. Took him and three other marines to get it out of the water. Later, when something started breaking the 100lb test he set out building himself a shark rig. He acquired a 3,000lb rope, some steel line to make his own leader, and a large shark hook. He would throw us out as far as he could then rick rack all the slack on the shore before tying the other end onto the bumper of a Plymouth. This went on for weeks until finally something took his bait and ran with it, stretching the 3k pound rope tight enough to turn it into a musical instrument. Him and his buddies decided the only option they had was to use the Plymouth and drag whatever they’d hooked to land. They never found out what they’d hooked because shortly after the bumper of the car started bending the rope broke. There’s always a possibility that the line got tangled up on the bottom of the ocean but something had to pick it up and put a serious stretch on the rope to begin with. The moral of his story was that if he ever finds himself back at Paris island, he won’t be swimming.

Catfish=good bait!

Could you have used a bigger hook on that eel?
We were using shrimp and squid as bait. I heard the whiting are good bait but when we caught it we were about to leave so we just threw him back.

I’m ignorant enough about fishing in general that I don’t know if the thing about the hook is a question or a joke.

When you sink a bucket it exerts lateral force to both sides. The intact dirt opposite the wall is stronger than the wall. Energy will take the path of least resistance and my guess would be it will go to the wall and knock it over. That’s been my experience anyway.

If it were mine I would either put up a new wall or grade it out, place some large, flat rocks on it, then fill the empty spaces with monkey grass or similar. From the pictures it looks like you already have some stone there.

Finally got bagpipes. If UK Customs would’ve have dorked up the paperwork twice we would’ve had them a month ago. These are hand made in Scotland and are a custom 343 firefighter set made in collaboration with a band called The Red Hot Chili Pipers. Part of the revenue from every set goes to the Fallen Firefighter Fund and the final set, labeled 343 will be auctioned with the entire proceeds going to the same charity.
