Daughter was feeling bad since this morning, had the symptoms for appendicitis.

Got her in early afternoon and they just confirmed it is appendicitis. Wife just took her in for surgery.

I get to finish dinner, take the boys to scouts then hoping she will be out for a quick visit.
Prayer sent JR.

I don’t know about the new Silverado’s but the last 5.3 I had got 14-15mph around town and 18+ on the highway. By comparison, the 2016 5.7 hemi I had and the 2011 5.0 I currently own get 13-14 around town and 16-17 on the highway. Doesn’t sound like much of a difference but the Silverado was a 2001 model.  Ford and dodge seem to be at least 10-15 years behind GM on fuel mileage.

Same as the 6BT cummins, rock solid!

Got an order going from Amazon, wheel well liners, fender clips and additive.

You know Don, as much as we all here order from Amazon. Could there be a link set up where we buy stuff and RMTW gets a little % from it? Not sure if it works with an LLC vs a charity, but worth a look see??

I was just poking around another forum I am on and they do have an amazon link set up like this.

https://forums.gunhive.com/topic/432/help-support-gunhive-com
That’s a great idea. I’ve used a link from the Jocko Podcast several times ordering from amazon. It’s easy and I know they get a percentage of everything spent as well as some kind of advantage just for the click even if you don’t buy anything.

My wife and I saw them several years ago when they were opening for Corey Smith in Huntsville Alabama. That night was the first time they ever played the song Cruise in front of an audience. They were dorks then and they are still dorks today. I don’t know what to call that crap that comes out of their mouths, but it dang sure ain’t country music.

You can still start Dave’s Framing and Nuisance Animal Control and write off the suppressor in your LBZ. :beercheers:
Seriously though, if I am remembering the right truck id say it’s still nice and capable enough to have a few repairs and stay in service.

Where is am not my own boss ( looking into my options to become) I can’t write them off.  However the new boss might be up to helping out with mechanical issues. However he won’t for the superficial stuff like my paint.

Dave, start a business. “Dave’s Framing” do “some” side jobs and write the stuff off. If your intention is to start a business eventually do it now. Start small, crawl before you walk.......
If it’s Dave’s Framing and Nuisance Animal Control can he write off firearms and suppressors?

In the last 16 months I’ve purchased a 2016 Ram with the 5.7L Hemi (395hp), which I sold, and now own a 2011 F150 with the 5.0L (365hp). The Ford is currently listed on Craigslist. Both of them are much nicer trucks than my LB7 but they both just sat/do sit in my driveway because I didn’t like the feel of the naturally aspirated gas engine. If you like driving your LBZ, I’d stick with diesel.

There's finally some movement on this old truck. Not much, but some. This morning I ordered a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks to replace the wore out trailmaster junk. They are long past the end of their service life.

I have never ran a cleaner, but I run a cat 750 (2micron) and additive most fillups.

You guys it from GM? Is it a process or just dump it in?
I think Cat has changed their specs on that filter and it’s not as good as they originally thought. I switched to Donaldson with a water separator bowl.
This is the stuff you need. It’s an easy process.

That’s a hard pill to swallow Dave. If I have to open her up I’ll probably do 5 and 7 at a minimum. Maybe 1 also. The truck is for sale so my current mood is to show interested parties the balance rates, mark it down, and sell it without replacing anything. I did order a bottle of GM injector cleaner tonight. I’ll give that one more try first.

Got my heart broken this morning. When I replaced the injectors the first time I added the nicktane filter adapter and use the Donaldson 3 micron filters. I also use additive every fillup and never let the truck get below half tank of fuel. Guess I should’ve bitten the bullet and got a Fass or Air dog.

That’s what I was thinking. Everything I could find said they’re $1,000-1,100 (new) when in stock. I may be shunned for it but this is also the first .45 ACP I’ve owned. I don’t reckon having a second option for pistol calibers is not a bad thing.

That buzzard scat looks delicious!

Has anyone ever heard the term bat hide to describe a $100 bill? Maybe it’s a southern Missouri thing cause these folk in Alabama haven’t heard of it. Anyway, I traded four of them for this pistol this morning. I know next to nothing about Sig pistols, even less about 1911 pistols, but for the price I couldn’t pass it up. On second thought. With a 4” barrel and external extractor is it really a 1911?

On second thought, the barrel probably is 5” but i don’t think the slide is. What the heck is this thing?

Looks like a tacops. I have one. I love it. For showing my buddies. I wouldn’t carry it though! Your barrel is threaded for a suppressor.

That’s the closest thing I’ve been able to find. If I keep it long term it’ll probably just be a fun plinker and never see any holster time. She’s a heavy pig and I already have several Glocks and M&Ps that I know are reliable.

That sucks. We’ll have to figure out something around our coop door. There is a gap there that some critter may get their paws through. We gave the chicks meal worms for the first time yesterday. They weren’t sure what to do with them at first but an hour later they were all gone. What do y’all know about using sand for grit? One of the store employees where we bought the meal worms suggested it.

...I would want to be trained by FBI/SEALS/US MARSHALLS some group that actually know their stuff and I would want to have to pass such a course with accuracy and stability...

Dad and I were talking about this issue last weekend. I proposed the FAM qualification standard should have to be met by those wanting to carry in schools (years ago I read it is the most difficult of all the fed agencies). The reasoning behind that is that I don’t want someone buying a gun, shooting a few rounds 2-3 times a year, passing a minimum standard qualification, then potentially wielding a hot handgun around a room full of kids in a stressful situation. I want people who make it their mission to excel at putting holes exactly where they want them and won’t accept a failure to do so. I’ve seen standards dumbed down so that a desired percentage of applicants pass and it never ends well.

Hopefully the yard fence will keep out the domestics. As for the wild critters, they’ll have to get through a smaller chain link fence around the coup. I can also see the coup from the upstairs window and it’s well within 17HMR range. We started out wanting 8-10 but we’re already up to at least 16. Chicken math is already getting us.

A few days ago my wife sent me a picture of an apron for little girls that has a bunch of individual pockets for putting eggs in. I know that woman well as well as where this conversation is headed so I says to her "that's cute, too bad we don't have chickens". She replies with, "ok, I already bought it though, so I guess Heidi can just find something else to put in her apron". Naturally I put my boots on and did the only thing could do at that point. Went and bought a bunch of pullets.

It'll be some time before these are laying eggs. Luckily for me, at only 5 months old it'll be a while before the little one is ready for that apron. If I'm being perfectly honest though, I am looking forward to having our own chickens. It's like a little slice of my childhood brought back to me as an adult and I know good and well there'll be lessons for littles to learn from them.

That’s a good time right there Nate. I grew up spending most Tuesdays at the Ozark’s Regional Stockyard in southern Missouri.

Wife and I spent all night Friday fighting a stomach bug. Thankfully the in laws were here to help with the baby. I don’t know what we would’ve done without them. I also ordered a new AIWB holster from tier1concement. Gonna give appendix carry another attempt with a S&W Shield. My last attempt with a full size FNP didn’t go well.

I’d be all for bringing back public executions for people like the guy who shot up the school two days ago. A few pieces of trash like him hanging from a rope at the courthouse may discourage others from doing the same. At this point I don’t see what we have to lose by trying.

Went back to the lease today and heard rumors that the 10pt I have the picture of was killed near where I’ve been hunting, over a pile of corn. If true, that would be highly frustrating. Baiting is illegal here in Alabama.

Id have to do some more research, but there are a few criteria

conservative state with strong 2a stance.  30-35 inches rainfall a year (little to no supplimental irrigation required for crops). reasonable cost of land, $4000 or less.  Modest taxes.

That is where I would like 50-100 acres ideally bounded by very large tracts, preferrably, govnerment land.

bit of a needle in the haystack.  Not much rain out west.  Idaho comes to mind, though.
Welcome to the Ozarks Tex!

...Can it be that the severe cold caused some seal or hose to contract enough to initiate a leak, but sealed back up with the application of heat?...
That kind of stuff happened to our fertilizer and dump trucks all the time. Retightening hose clamps after they were warm seemed to help. It only happened in extreme cold though and on those rigs it was acceptable since we didn’t run them much in those temps.
