It does work, you're just grabbing the wrong link... copy the link that says something like "bb code"

I think I got it figured out while replying. I saw that tapatalk has a button to insert an img bb code.

It may be a problem with the app. On both Imgur and Flickr I only have one option for a link to copy. The apps look like this:

Availability of fuel is my biggest worry about not having a diesel. The pipeline that was shut down a few days ago is a prime example of why storing extra diesel is a huge benefit. My Duramax won't be going anywhere until it is back up and running.

I've been eyeing a first gen Cummins for a while now. Every day I drive past it I look for a For Sale sign in the window. I'm not sure of the year but it's a grey, single cab automatic. I'd be perfectly happy having something like that for emergencies. My biggest fear about something like that though is that I'll buy it, put some money into it, and then it'll just sit in the garage and never run again.

I appendix carried a full size FNP for a while. It didn't work out for me but I may try again now that I have a M&P Shield. Those holsters look a little bulky. I'd probably prefer something more along these lines for a full size.

Since Photobucket doesn't work for image hosting anymore I'm trying to figure out other websites. I've successfully posted pictures to other forums by copying and pasting a link from an app (Imgur or Flickr) but that same process doesn't work here on RealMan. Any ideas?

As I was telling my dad I bought a Ford I started thinking this must be what if feels like for people coming out of the closet.

Thank goodness I didn't have a mouthful of coffee.
My duramax is generally overkill the past few years.
Yes towed camper and few big loads around...
However, comma, I'll take the bit of extra maintenance for the peace of mind it just goes and goes.
And from what I've been hearing only a little worse mileage than some trucks, a fair bit on very few, and far better it turns out than my buddies Accadia he just got rid of.

And where I live half tons don't make 150k, let alone 250 and still number one.
In your region a diesel makes a lot more sense. Unfortunately, I have to drive 25 minutes just to find a road not covered in asphalt. If my LB7 had four doors I would just replace the injectors and carry on, but it doesn't, so I had to figure something else out.

I bought the F-150. It has the 5.0 with Ford's maximum trailering package. 3.73 gears, electronic rear locker, off road package, 36 gallon fuel tank and a bunch of other fancy stuff on the inside. As much as I have enjoyed my diesel it's just not practical anymore. Especially with the injectors being so much trouble.

I drove the f-150 down a fairly rough road today and didn't notice anything I would've called bed hop. The motor also doesn't have any strange sound, shake, shimmy or vibration.

Not sure how AL is with Canadian imports but watch out for those rust buckets...SORRY eh!  (is AL in the rust belt?) being in the car business I can tell you to be cautious of the 5.4L V8 from ford. even the 5.0 has some issues as you will see in the near future ford is removing it completely from their lineup. most everything with be 6cyl turbo gas or diesel going forward. The dreaded 'cam phaser' noise makes the gas ford v8 sound like a Kubota diesel. and its been seen in vehicles with as little as 15k miles. usually $2500 to repair assuming you're not getting hosed on labor. If I can be of any assistance in helping with Vehicle history reports (carfax) or sending you book sheets on a vehicle you're interested in, just ask.
Thanks for the info. This one is the 5.0 engine with 71k miles. I have been, and will continue to steer clear of anything with the 5.4. According to the auto check report the dealer provided, this truck is a one owner and has lived in Alabama its whole life so no salt.

Careful if that's the 5'5" bed, I believe several years in there had bed hop. As your running down the interstate the suspension & super light bed allow it to feel like back of truck is bobbing up and down
Interesting, I'll make sure to it be on the lookout for that. Any idea how much weight it takes to stop that? My toolbox and it's contents probably weigh 250lbs.

If the notes listed on the spec sheet are correct, you're going to want to re-gear for the tire size or expect transmission issues down the road.
Transmission, 4-speed automatic, electronically controlled with overdrive and tow/haul mode (On Crew Cab models, requires (L20) Vortec 4.8L V8 SFI Flex-Fuel engine. Not available on T*10953 models.)
■ Rear axle, 3.42 ratio (Refer to Engine/Axle chart for availability.)

Do you have any idea what the RPM's were like at HWY speeds when you test drove? These trucks are factory equipped, and yeah they have the warranty with them, but they NEVER re-gear them appropriately for the tire size change. should be at a minimum 4.11. Factory tires with factory gears runs 1635rpm at 60 in OD.

GM 4L80/4L80E 2.48 1.48 1.00 0.75 in OD. R&P at 60mph w/ this config you'd be around 1475,  4.11 would put you at 1775rpm. Not trying to rain on your parade, but you'd be hard pressed to actually achieve 21 mpg w/ those gears.
Best I remember it was around 1,500. Whatever it was it was low.

I often get caught eyeballing lifted trucks and big tires but that isn't practical with a little one due right away. Something like this would be a little more practical.

Drove a Rocky Ridge edition Sierra 1500 today. I have mixed feeling about it. On one hand I know it's nothing special, just a 6" lift and 35s. On the other hand, it has fewer miles that other trucks I've been looking at and a lifetime power train warranty. Anybody know anything about these trucks?

Due to my bonehead move I never did make it to look at the 2015 ecoboost. I did stop by a dealer closer to home and drove a silver, one owner, 2013 F-150 with the 5.0 motor, FX4 off road whatnots and lariat interior package. I can tell the truck has been used but doesn't appear to be abused. The underside looks like my trucks used to when I lived down 2.5 miles of gravel roads. Even though I'm not overly thrilled about that, the truck is priced accordingly.

Also, the total cost not paying attention was right at $200. That was an expensive ADD moment but it could've been much worse.

Now that the Ram is sold I'm looking hard and heavy for a newer four door. I put 4,811 miles on the Ram and lost right at $1,230 including taxes/tag. Not nearly as bad as it could have been.

Dad and I drove to Atlanta last weekend to look at an 06 LLY but it turned out to be in worse shape than I thought. Steering and suspension were in need of a complete overhaul, it had a malfunctioning turbo sensor, and based on those problems, the owner wasn't willing to negotiate enough to suit me. Well kept Duramax trucks around here bring mucho dinero so I'm looking at some other options. Mainly a couple different 09 Dodge trucks with the 6.7l Cummins/auto. Anyone know of anything I should be on the lookout for if I go look at these trucks?

My brother and I want to a farm machinery auction with a signed check and alist from our boss.
Only got one thing on the list. A corn detassler. We are going to convert it to fix irrigation pivot tires. This is going to be interesting. I will document that build for sure.
We also got something not on the list. A 09 Polaris ranger. Really nice shape with 3,000 miles for $5300. I'm not sure if we are in trouble or not. We told the boss we got it but he didnt say anything.

Sent from my VK810 4G using Tapatalk
Jon, that's fewer miles than my 09 Ranger had and less than I paid, by quite a bit. From what I can read the 700 is a good motor, but touchy about a few sensors. I've had major headaches with the fuel system on mine and have replaced almost everything from the ECU to the injectors.
We picked up a new pup today. Name suggestions welcome.  Bullmastiff.

LLY and it stayed in Georgia. Wasn't as nice as it looked from the pictures, needed some major front end work, and had very little power. He had a sensor (turbo related) sitting in the console but didn't have a clue how to put it in. Between the front end, being 4 hrs from home at 1800, and the sensor I didn't think it was worth the price.

Reviving an old thread to give an update... my Cooper ATPs are junk. Ken was right. They've been balanced 3 times in 2 weeks, still shakes like a b**** at 45-50mph. Finally the tech today said they're in balance, but appear to be out of round.

Luckily they've got a 55k mile warranty, so I'll get most of my money back.

Now, what to get to replace... my options at Discount Tire are really the Terra Grap G2 or the BFG KO2. Can't wait for a special order, have a big camping trip coming up and leaving this weekend. Leaning Nitto since it has a 50k mile warranty, no tread warranty on the BFGs. As soon as this next set wears out, I'm going back to Toyo, but can't do it now since DT doesn't carry them.

What do you guys think... Nitto over BFG?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd go for the Nitto just because of the warranty.

Am I too late to help Chief spend his money? The dump truck makes sense if you have that much gravel to haul but there are a lot less expensive options out there. Maybe not if you require a/c though. Thing to remember with those types of truck is the longer they sit without being used the more they cost every time you start it. Buy it, use it for what you need it for, then get rid of it.

Also, I'm sure the gate is on the ground by now.

*gasp*

That wire was a fire waiting to happen! How old is the house? Builder still around?? Should you make them aware of this?
Yes it was. Its amazing what people will do to save a little time or money. The house was built in 1985 so I doubt he is. I think I'm with Sam on this one. This wouldn't be he first time I found a shortcut they took.
:knucklehead:   :knucklehead:

I'm thinking its a low budget, covert previous homeowner screw up...

That's what I'm thinking. They laid the floor downstairs themselves and there are several small gaps scattered around. I'm fairly certain they could only cut 90 degree corners and never really figured out the whole tape measure thing.

Mid project pic I snapped for the wife. Pregnancy hormones have her all worked up and she's asking for updates every hour. Her mood is constantly improving though as more and more flooring goes down.

When I get home this morning I'm going to pull up a section of the floor and route a new wire. We briefly considered having an electrician run the wire from the bottom side but that meant removing some Sheetrock and maybe some ceiling. That'd be another headache we don't want to take on right now. Worst part is that this will hold up the flooring. Oh well, I'm just glad we found it so it can be fixed.

Edit: added a couple pictures to earlier posts.

Found another gem. The ceiling fan in the living room must've been added after the house was built. Power was supplied to it by tying into a plug in the room directly above it (which we're turning into a nursery), bringing it out under the Sheetrock, and drilling a hole in the floor directly above the fan. Before they slapped the carpet back down all called it done they stapled the wire to the underlayment, piercing the insulation a half dozen times of so.

Just set your depth on your circ saw and cut out squares, and pry em out with a wonder bar.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yesterday I was cutting approximately 6"x6" squares and pulling them up with a wonder bar. Today, when my father in law showed up, he showed me an easier way. Each 8x4 piece takes about 1/4 of the time while doing it his way. I've got more floor to remove in a few days so I'll get some pictures then. My word smithing isn't good enough to explain it without them.

Good news is that by this time tomorrow we should have some of the new hardwood down. The plan is to put another coat of Kilz down early in the morning. By the time help arrives it should be dry enough to start replacing the particleboard. The friend who's laying the hardwood came by with one of the cleats he's using and its plenty long enough to reach through the particle board and into the plywood subfloor.

Now, is that fiberboard on top or cardecking or something (old homes did this often), or is that your actual subfloor that's over your joists?

As far as i know, Tapatalk will not charge to host photos... i use Tapatalk when posting photos from my phone, and Imgur when posting from my laptop. Imgur is super easy.

As for circ saws, cordless are great and have their place. I have an 18v Ridgid, works great. I also have a Skil worm-drive, and that thing don't take prisoners. But its obviously corded, and heavier.

For your floor, if it's just discolored from liquids, just Kilz it and be done. If it's rotten, cut it out and scab in something of equivalent thickness. Use enough liquid nails and it wont squeak. Is your new flooring going to be floating or nailed down?

I bought a Dewalt drill/impact combo and circular saw this afternoon. A Milwaukee/Rigid rep almost had me talked into one of their brands. I went with the Dewalt because they were the only company who had any part of their manufacturing process in the United States. The floor is rotten enough that big sections will have to be replaced. The new floor is 3/4" nail down.

De nada Jefé.

Work came to a stop around 2230 tonight with all of the carpet, padding, and tac strip out of two rooms and the hallway. The baseboard in the baby's room also had to go and I got a bunch of the underlayment pulled up. Since the baby will be here soon my wife would like to just fixed the damaged spots instead or replacing everything. Since we're under a time constraint, don't plan on living here much longer, and that stuff is so hard to take up I'm inclined to agree with her. We'll see what tomorrow holds when I have some help from my father in law.

Speaking of being hard to remove, is there a tool of method I should be using instead of a flat bar and hammer?

So far all the carpet, pad, tac strips, and baseboards are out of the babies room. Gonna park a trailer under a window so I can heave the scrap out onto it.

What is yalls thoughts on battery powered circular saws?

My old, cheap drill wouldn't cut it so I also bought a drill/impact set.

Rigid has a lifetime warranty on their drills and batteries and for now the Milwaukee set includes three batteries. Either one of those would have been nice I couldn't walk away from something that was assembled (at least partially) here in the USA.

Last night I started pulling up old carpet in preparation for hardwood floor install. What I found underneath was a subfloor of pressboard/particle board. In addition to being junk it has also been damaged by either water, pets, of a combination of both. The roof suffered damage from the 2011 tornadoes (Alabama) and was replaced as a result. We've had no water leaks since moving in April of 2014. I don't build houses for a living but I'm going to take some tools, a rudimentary knowledge of construction, and a friend or two and tackle this myself. For now I have to decide what to replace this with after I get it tore up. Pretty much everyone on this forum knows more about this that I do so any suggestions are welcome.

Also, what is everyone using to host pictures now that photobucket isn't an option? I don't want to cost Chief a bunch of money by loading them straight to Tapatalk.
