Flyin6:
It was a day with varied weather as a cold front dropped in about mid-day plunging temperatures and bringing rain as you can see:

Flyin6:
I have visited it before.

They maintain a healthy herd of Bison there reminiscent of the Buffalos and Mastodons who died by the hundreds there tens of thousands of years ago.

There is a museum and visitors center where the archeology of the area is explained.

They replicated one of the salt bogs where whole animals were swallowed up offering modern-day archeologists a bountiful supply of intact skeletons.

Flyin6:
Throughout the park in various locations are salt springs surrounded with quick sand-like material where these massive animals of old would come to seek the salt, but end up stuck in the mud and dying. For decades the park has produced mammoth tusks and bones.

Flyin6:
We decided to treat the dogs to a walk on the trails.
