somewhere I have some photos of them barreling down the street between high rise buildings in Houston. 40-50 ft off the ground and threading the needle. Pretty impressive.
Bigdave_185:
What is the reason behind that? tight space practice ?

Probably part of a movie shoot. The first Black Hawk was being loaded with a litter.

Ya know, that may be correct. I can hardly believe it, though that 160 SOAR aircraft are used, but I've seen them in more than one film.
I thought it was just part of normal urban ops training. Way back in the 80's I was doing that stuff in LA in the long beach area. Aft wheel landings on the holiday inn on the beach... Its necessary to train in all areas, since we get calls in the middle of the night (well, not we, I'm not a part of that any more...obviously), they get calls to execute missions in who knows where. You have to stay up in proficiency in all sorts of terrains/areas.
On a "Snatch and Grab mission, the team boyz roll with a stretcher...If you're getting snatched and you're not cooperating, you get some no notice sleepy time...
