Thanks Tate I have Net Nanny on her laptop but I need something better on the phone.

Don, I talked to her about sexting and told her it WILL happen and when it does delete it immediately.  A friends son received a sext and deleted it. His buddy forwarded it and learned that there is no age restrictions on child porn. At 16 he was charged with distributing child pornography.

Firearms / 2017 will be time to stock up
« on: December 20, 2016, 11:14:06 AM »
For those wanting to increase their stock of weapons, gear, and ammo, 2017-2018 should be the time to stock up.

Gun manufacturer stocks, dropped after the election because the biggest promoter of weapons and biggest driver of record weapon  sales ,the democrat party was defeated.

There  is a glut of weapons and magazines on the market and already prices of weapns and parts are falling.

if you've kicked yourself for waiting or not having enough supply.  Be ready.  It will be time to stock up.

Well, the oldest is now 13 and the youngest just turned 11.  I gave my oldest a phone when she turned 12.  When I gave it to her, I told her that what I was handing her was as dangerous as one of my pistols.  It had the power to ruin her life and that nothing she does or says on that phone should be considered private.  I've disabled everything other than calls and texts, but still that's enough to get her in trouble.

She needs it to communicate with us as she's involved in a lot of after school activities like dance, debate, Nat'l Jr Honor Society, etc.  Last week she leaves it on the bench at school when being picked up.  We went back and it was gone.  I tried to activate find my phone but it was not installed onthat phone.  Fortunately someone turned it in at the office.  So I was updating software and installing anc activating Find My Phone and decided to do my fatherly duty and review all her pictures and texts.  Found a friend that was texting her about sending dirty jokes.

My daughters downfall was not telling her friend not to send them.  Instead she said, send it and then I'll delete it and that her battery was about dead so she would respond and let her know when to send it.....

So....I texted her friend as though I was my daughter and told her to send it.  It was innocuous "don't foget to blow up the beach balls" I guesss getting the word "balls" in a joke was dirty for them.

So I called my daughter out on it and she knew she was wrong and knew she should have told her friend not to send jokes.  I also reinforced that nothing on that phone is private and she should talk to her friend and tell her she got in trouble and that she would appreciate her not sending anymore jokes.  Ofcourse my daughter wanted to text her and I said, no.  You need to talk to her face to face in person.

I also told her that if I caught her again (and I'd be checking) that she'd lose her phone and ability to particpate in after school activities.

Have you guys dealt with this? how did you handle it?

Are there any sofware that logs all keystrokes and text messages?

Great addition Shawn. Koot, growing up we had a schnauz. Thing was crazy about riding in vehicles. If you weren't getting in fast enough it'd reach out and bite your sleeve to pull you in.

Today I finished my employee reviews. Can't wait for that drama when they get delivered in january. .  Changed the oil, rotated the tires and washed the wife's van. Also cleans and treated the battery terminals

Got the AR10 dialed in. I forgot how much of a pain installing a fully adjustable giesselle trigger is. Three small Allen set screws , each a different size and needing blue loctite.  Setting sear engagement is a pain, the rest is not too bad.  I think that was too complicated a trigger for a battle carbine.  It is a great trigger for the precision AR10.  4# first stage and about 1.5lb second stage.  I can't find my digital trigger gauge but by the seat of the pants is about 1.5

7519
Kooter it's a simple matter of support structure. The majority of Muslims live off the largesse ("welfare") of the country they are settling. That's the only way to support the density of their population during the takeover. Once the critical mass is reached and they assume majority control I assure you they are coming to the rural areas to impose their will on the remaining holdouts.  It will be violent at that point but they will come.

Dave see if the 9011/9012 mod will work on her traverse. They replace the 9005/9006 by trimming the guide tab on the bulb so they go in the stock housing and the light output is significantly higher.

Thanks Dave. Everything I own is for sale for some price.

So grabbed a gallon ziploc and harvested some lettuce this morning since it may not survive the frost (I won't call it a freeze out of respect for the rest of the country, since it's 25 degrees out).

Aaaaannd grabbed a mag and the SBR to run some rounds through it.

So you know how to tell when you are shoot no M855?  The steel targets start sparking......oops I guess I grabbed the wrong mag.  The depressions in the steel weren't too bad, but they're there. These are AR 500. Nothing says welcome like a few spent rounds on the door mat.

So apparently the giessele trigger was adjusted to light causing the multiple rounds to be discharged followed by a bolt override.  I'll move on to installing it in my Noveske and set the second stage. Bit higher. Hope that solves the problem. Doubling or tripling with a 7.62x51 is a whole different ballgame.

Nice! Congrats

I washed the Bus and put it in the shop since it may rain as the front moves through.  Going from 70 to 25 in the space of about 8'hours.

Also broke down my SBR and removed the Giessele super semi adjustable trigger. Pulled the non adjustable trigger from my Noveske and swapped it in to the SBR to rule out the trigger being the cause for the doubling and tripling.  If that's the issue then I'll install in the adjustable trigger in the AR10 and increase the weight of the second stage which I think is the cause of the doubling and tripling with a bolt override.

Will test the AR SBR tomorrow and see where we go from there.  The plan is to by the giessele DMR non adjustable for the SBR since I don't need a super light trigger on an SBR with minute of scumbag accuracy.

Ha. Saw that post about my cousin at HD. Makes me glad I went with 20s and not 24s. I have the same kit Kyle. Only advice is to make sure you don't have any dips in the runs where water could collect. Should always slope to a manifold so you can drain water from the little valve on the outlet.

The SHTF scenario reminded me of a cell tower I saw somewhere. They had disguised it as a tree. Albeit a really big tree. Not sure if a vertical axis turbine could be made to look to be a part of the tree trunk and a faux tree top above it. Tilting towers are good to have. Same for ham antenna.

TRN, most of the boats I have been on have quiet bars and other places to get away from the crowds. Room service and the room balcony work too. Get on shore and find your own things to see and do. Don't have touch the bags or move from room to room. Each to their own but I like it.
Now that I've turned 50, maybe there is an AARP cruise I can go on that will be more mature considerate people....

Had a little accident yesterday. I always tug test before raising the landing gear but I was on snow and the wheels just spun. So I raised them up and pulled ahead on dry ground. Better to drop it in the yard than on the road. I even visually inspected the jaws to see if they were closed on the king pin.  This truck sat out in the last snow storm turn out there was ice in the 5th wheel preventing it form locking all the way. 20 years with a CDL and never dropped a trailer. First time for everything.
Any damage?

All it did was pull the wires out of the pig tail plug.  Im really impressed with them plastic fenders. We were told you could drop a trailer on them in the middle of winter and they wouldn't break. They were right.

That's impressive and good news. Plastics have come a long way from back in the day.

Not sure what I'm into/done with the cruise, not sure about trapped on a boat...
I have no issues with boat, just the trapped bit.
We've always talked about doing one to see.
I did get the drink and I think food upgrades au gratis.

Don, that's funny your luck and blessing.

My problem with cruises is that I hate people.  I hate crowds actually.  Because inevitably there are a handful of people who believe they are better, superior, more entitled than every other human in the crowd.  On a tightly packed boat with hoards of human rejects, there is an exponentially high likelihood that I would eject a few from the balcony of the boat.

Good deal JR.  Ken my trips there are interesting to say the least.  Usually working with schools and government entities and watching how poorly and inefficiently they spend our tax dollars.

I have even identified some of the local bars where the cartel does business.

Be interesting for a group of heavily armed civilians and quasi-civilians to go in there and stare at their hot girlfriends until they started a fight....

7540
Don, googlefu using bedliner as a reinforcement.  I've seen ballistic tests where that stuff was applied over stuff (like cinder block walls, etc) that made it super strong.

I imagine that applying it over the foam would make that stuff pretty stout.

Blue and bob-white quail.  No dogs.  Milo on the roads and drive around until we see covey.  Bail out and rush through chest and head high brush until they flush.  Whack one per shooter, get back in the truck and drive some more.  Don't want to pressure the covey too much.

I can tell you that EVERYTHING in south texas has a thorn on it.  Racing through the brush is a chore.

At least at 42 degrees and misting rain, the 6ft rattle snakes are dormant.  Running through the brush in the summer can result in a really bad day when you step on one of these.

Vacuum sealed the sow that I shot.  We ate the quail wraps at the ranch.

need to order a new butler creek flip up for the AR10 scope , a rail QD sling point, and a new Giessele SSA two stage for the LMTAR so I can swap the adjustable trigger out to the AR 10.

Amazon rocks,  most of the stuff for my daughters birthday showed up while I was out hunting.  All flamingo themed presents.
