Tom (name removed) bird, I think
We lost a bunch of those little birds that day, but me thinks that's Tom's bird
Comes off the roof with some extra weight (Precious cargo) and looses power
Turns out the crew chief has actually turned down the fuel screw (Less power) on the fuel control unit. But Tommy does not know this until he grabs an armload of "Lets get the H___ out of here" the engine does not cooperate and the rotor RPM bleeds. THey go down hard into the street and crash. A bunch of pissed off bad guys shoot the living crap out of the bird finishing the job, although I believe he actually went skidding down the street trying to get to take off speed, but too many little holes in the engine pretty much ends the day.
Me, I was over at Tocommen International with a load of rangers at the time. This happened about an hour or so before my "Lucky Dollar" story in my book.
The tail rotor from that bird hangs in a certain team room in a certain building over on the Ft. Bragg reservation
They won't give it back to us!
