Congrats on the new family member. Two weeks ago my wife rescued a 6year old Schnauzer from DesMoines. He is an amazing mutt and loves to help me drywall. He also has a thing for riding around in Patch...so he's become quite the valued companion already. Hoping your new addition brings you all similar enjoyment.
Shawn,

That one of those things that likes snackin' on screwdrivers? Likes swimmin' in ponds then jumpin' up on you afterward to share the pond scum? Likes sneakin' away with just one of your favorite wool socks? likes mud? likes truck upholstery (The taste)? One of those?

Ponds yes, the rest of that list is the owners fault imo....... ;)

Our last dog rolled in his stuff and stank unless right after a bath. Now wifey is dead set against one. I however plan on getting a mut anyway, wouldn't really hurt anything around here anyway,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

At least my PVS14 and the Seek thermal showed up today.

So after chasing a vibration in the rear end of theDuramax. I have finally found the last problem. Replaced bad carrier bearing and rear U joints. 500$. I took it in for that. We we harvesting I didn't have time.  Found a bad tire. Right rear. Put it on the lift and ran it. I could see it wobble. Replaced that. $180 It all but want away. Until this morning I had a vibration under my feet so bad I didn't want to go over 45. I'm thinking front U joints. Nope front bearing is out in the transfer case. That's going to be $2,000.

I talked to a couple guys they said its not bad to do but probably better off just replacing the whole works. You don't know what your in for until you get it apart. I can swap it myself. Thats not a big deal. Just have to find 2 grand.

Great addition Shawn. Koot, growing up we had a schnauz. Thing was crazy about riding in vehicles. If you weren't getting in fast enough it'd reach out and bite your sleeve to pull you in.

Today I finished my employee reviews. Can't wait for that drama when they get delivered in january. .  Changed the oil, rotated the tires and washed the wife's van. Also cleans and treated the battery terminals

Tonight I will be killing Raccoons!  Minimum of 2ea maybe 3.  Normally I leave them alone but they killed one of my chickens last night so now they have the taste.  looks like a mother and two of her recent offspring.

Them coons gotta go for sure.

Tonight I finished up a lighting project on my skidoo.
We do a lot of packing and moving in the dark so I added a rear facing light.
I'd bought them because it was like $15 for four not with any purpose in mind.
Even had holes in the gun boot mount for attaching.

Illuminated switch by steering column.

And with the lights out in garage.
I can't wait to use this, will be so handy.

The phone so screws up the colour and light output in the dark, but you get the idea.

if i ever find myself living in a location where a snowmobile is a primary means of travel.. it will instantly be for sale, along with the house and everything in it. hahahah

but really.. that is a nice addition. i may have to do something like that on my 4wheeler, provided i get home soon and it back together before the next duck hunting outting. (i may regret this..) but you can never have too much light. hahah

I totally agree with the light part. Once you start, you just want more...
I do have a 20" with no home. It may end up on the quad or maybe the skidoo out front.
Just a lot of watts for the smaller electrical systems on either.

i replaced the headlights on my polaris 325 with an almost identical size LED spot light (gift from my brother) and they're amazing. can see ~100 yds down a path. i'd almost prefer 1 spot and 1 flood, but adjusted correctly they cover more than enough for me to have decent vision overall. and i'd almost venture a guess that they pull less power than the conventional incandecents that were there. a 20" bar.. might be a different story. but 2 2"x3" pods.. maybe not

I love these led lights. You don't need heavy wire like the old KC lights. Did you put in a fuse link?  I fully intended on using one in my old chevy. I got done and it was laying on the dash. I should probably go back and put that in.

Yes fuse inline at the battery.
The fact you get all this light with so few watts is awesome.
I ran 14AWG wire, as it was what I had around, but at 18 watts it's overkill.
I went direct to battery for ability to use it with the sled off.
I think the 20" bar will find a home elsewhere, but I'm looking for LED replacement headlights or additional pods. I'm hesitant to add pod type lights though, as I do crash a fair amount of bush some days.

Yep after eating one chicken the night before last they were back again for more, I'm happy to report there is one less coon now.  Things are pretty big the one I got last night was around 25lbs but the one that got away was even bigger.  I will be better prepared tonight.

Ken, I wish, the bush crashing is generally for firewood acquisition or logging for helicopter pads etc. Always daylight stuff so you can generally see what you need to crash. Lol.
Hard on paint, snowflaps and things that stick out.

And when you have one of the 'tractors' for a snowmobile you end up being that guy...

I miss snowmobiling...Nebraska and it's darn wind. Even when we get enough snow, the drifts are too unpredictable to go 100mp and other fun stuff. That said we aren't far from Wyoming n Colorado and that's great sledding territory.

That's the problem Norm, people down here leave all the food in the world out for these things to eat and that's why they are so big.  I used one of these and a live trap, the live trap they set-off and I didn't catch anything but the leg hold works REALLY GOOD!

https://www.amazon.com/Duke-0510-Coon-Trap-Pack/dp/B00P4HHZ0C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482247310&sr=8-1&keywords=coon+traps

Tonight I will set both of the leg hold traps and I will move the bait to a different location inside the live trap, one down and one to go!

On the farm we used to take care of the raccoon problem with some good fly bait and a couple cans of Pepsi.  Mix it up in a pan of sorts and just set it out.  They never made it very far.

That is pretty much all there is too.  The sweetness of the Pepsi attracts the animal to eat the fly bait.  The fly bait kills them right quick.  I think we used the Golden Marlin brand fly bait or something.  Some of the cheaper/ more readily available fly baits wouldn't do the trick.  Half the time the coons would be found dead with their snout still in the bowl.  Just make sure your dogs, or any other critters you don't want to poison can get to it.

I don't want to have to use poison if I don't have too, I've seen some "good" animals get taken out that way.  Notably a very good friend of mine had a Mountain Lion he raised from a cub that ate two rats that had been poisoned, she might as well been a house cat it was the most affectionate "cat" I ever knew and very playful it died a very painful death!

I prefer lead poisoning!

I couldent use poison either. I have too many cats running around and when its decent we let the dog out all night. I got a possum a few weeks ago. Otherwise I've been pretty lucky with animals. I have a friend that got her whole flock wiped out by cyotes. First her chickens then her ducks and geese. She has one goose left. I'm going to go get it tonight after work. You gotta have a good coop and lock am up at night.

CL find yesterday- $100 with a title. Described as popping noise while in gear, been sitting so doesn't start. Clutch less shift- I assumed trans was broken. Cycled engine when I first saw bike, no noise, chain was rusted to sprocket, so its been outside for a while, gas smells like varnish, air filter was packed full of mice nest, oil was black but atleast it had oil. Bought it anyways. Brought home to discover this bikes has never had a wrench on it, bought from older lady who bought this brand new for grandkids who outgrew it after it broke. not a single screw, nut, bolt, or anything has every been touched... all they did was put crappy gas in it.

8pm- Rebuilt carb and cleaned air filter and it starts on second kick, no noise in neutral, ride around inside shop, noise coming from inside case on transmission side. pull cover to see missing teeth on primary gear drive, found all 4 missing teeth on oil screen near drain plug-- PHEW!!. $20 on ebay for used gear- $10 for fancy gold Chinese chain, we will have a good runner in no time. shoot I could flip it for $600 easy!!

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Organized the shop, removed the aux tank and tool box from the LML and scrubbed the bed getting ready to install the BakFlip G2 bed cover. Only to unbox it and find no clamps in the hardware bag.
