I have purchased twice from them now. The reconditioned stuff looks brand new to me??
My stuff ran around 50% off and one item closer to 75% off retail

Damaged me in the same way
Have an order arriving in about an hour!

I have been on that site for the last few hours. I have to actually get some work done before my boss gets mad. I have a few things that will be ordered shortly. I'm not sure if I should thank you for the link or not.
-
Well, let's look at the "reconditioned" tools that I just received from the CPO folks
-
The first in the stack-up is this 4 ton bottleneck jack which will slide into the SquareD emergency tool box. You may recall, all of that is a selection of reconditioned (New???) Bosch boxes selling at around half price.
-
OK, the box says reconditioned however the tool looks and smells like new.
This Bosch 4.5" angle grinder only cost $29.99
-
And not the Porter Cable drill and impact thing. BTW, buying them like this you actually get two 20 volt batteries!
I can't find any sign of wear, only some rubbing together during shipping.
-
Everything worked and the motors even had that new smell when running, like break in oil heating up. Those 20VDC twins cost $99.95, around half price.
Unless I find a gremlin, this all was one smoking good deal!
-
I will hold judgement until the Red Dog chimes in... if they are tasty they are a go! ;D

Oh NO
Words have power!
DO NOT speak that over these tools!
Instead speak words like, "Maybe the red dog will leave them alone," or, "Maybe the red dog will run away," or... Deleted...

Another place that sells tools similarly is reconditionedtools.com and I was trying to compare prices between the two sites and here's what I "think" I figured out:
1. Reconditioned tools have a "R" in the model number:
DCD771C2 drill $129.00 (at CPO)
http://www.cpooutlets.com/dewalt-dcd771c2-20v-max-cordless-lithium-ion-1-2-in--compact-drill-driver-kit/dewndcd771c2,default,pd.html
DCD771C2R drill $99.00 (at CPO)
http://www.cpooutlets.com/factory-reconditioned-dewalt-dcd771c2r-20v-max-cordless-lithium-ion-1-2-in--compact-drill-driver-kit/dewrdcd771c2r,default,pd.html
DCD771C2R drill $99.00 (at reconditionedtools.com)
http://www.reconditionedtools.com/factory-reconditioned-dewalt-dcd771c2r-20v-max-cordless-lithium-ion-1-2-in--compact-drill-driver-kit/dewrdcd771c2r,default,pd.html?start=1&cgid=cordless-drills&prefn1=brand&prefv1=Dewalt
Maybe the non-R ones are returns or something? I dunno.
2. The "R" prices are same at both websites (reconditionedtools ONLY sells "R" versions) although it does appear some models are at one place and not at the other. I kind of get overwhelmed with the literally hundreds of choices for each type of tool. ::)
But both places would appear to be a LOT better than retail! And on thing I have thought about (always a dangerous thing! ha!) Electronics often break immediately when you get them due to a bad circuit or something. Reconditioned would seem to be a very logical choice for that type of equipment because you know it has been tested on a bench. I think the same could hold true for fences and whatnot on saws, etc. So yes its cheaper which is good but you also know its been tested and works, which many times I think the new stuff is not tested (or tested to the same degree).
-
Good site. Bookmarked for later.
I wonder if they are factory seconds (blems) or tools that failed testing the first time and were sold on the secondary market. Sometimes blems can be as simple as the lettering was the wrong color or similar.
-
Thankfully, or not, they don't ship to Canada at the moment.
At least I won't be lost there with "add to cart-itis". Lots of good deals to be had though.
-
I'll bet these are either returns or ones which had that startup glitch that was talked about, or perhaps both.
In any case the price is hard to dismiss. Basically doubling your buying power!
-
Well, the batteries alone go for $90 each, so you got a deal!
My standard is PCable now (PC doesn't sound right).
-
Concur...No one here is buying any PC, that's for sure!
