Well I have been lurking on gunbroker dot com website for many months and since I want to be like Don when I grow up I was looking for a cheaper Sig716 than new.
Never have bought a gun online before but hey mainstream media says I can just buy one no background checks or nuttin why not?
So I found one no reserve and free shipping so I put in a bid of $1499.99 and it one. A place up in Utah. Paid by PayPal via credit card. Easy Peasy.
So not knowing what to do I look up an FFL on a website locator page and found a couple close. One was out of business gunsmith. One was the indoor range I go to. I called him and he said I would have to be a "member" for them to do a transfer. Being what a pain it is and all. I said ok. Then third on the list was my small little town hardware store. I called them and sure. Just give the seller the number and they will exchange info.
A couple of days later I get a tracking number. It was during the holidays so I wasn't expecting fast but in a few days it was at the hardware store. I called them and let my number to let me know when to come in and pick up. Couple days go by no call. So after another day I just go in. Super nice guy just really busy. It is leaning up against the wall near the break room with my name and number on it. Fill out the paperwork. Apparently a CCW does t matter. He calls in background check. After 30 minutes I ask what I own him. He says $20 which I give to the cashier at the front and off I went.
It really is easy to buy guns over the internet. Lol. As long as your not in a big hurry.
Also ordered 460 rounds from WI and have them as well. Now just need to shoot.
Pics or didn't happen.

$20 is a fair price for the transfer, I've paid more & less depending. I personally don't care for gunbroker but glad it worked for you.
-
You won't believe how smooth that gun is during recoil and with the action doing its thing
Sorta begs you to pull the loud toggle again, and again, and aga...
-
I'm glad you found a place that would take care of you and it sounds like you got a good deal. That is a fair price for the transfer. As long as you're clean, buying online is as easy as buying in person, although not as easy as the news would make it out to be. I get absolutely furious to hear politicians or so called "experts" on the news talk about how people can just buy a gun online with no background check. I can't stand it, it makes me want to put hands on em.

I've bought a lot of stuff off gunbroker. I've also bought off texas gun trader which means most transactions I can complete face to face legally without transaction paperwork.

I think it is a level as I can get it after tightening it all down. Good eye relief and nice cheek weld height.
I'll have to bore sight first and then now that it getting nicer get out and SHOOT.
Quick question. Do you guys loctite your scope ring bolts?
All done and back to the Safe. Had to modify the lense cover that came with it. Too tight on the front to rail. I also have to go back this morning and swap out the high rings to extra high rings so I would have front clearance.

I don't locktite mine.
I haven't had an issue.
I do know guys that do, and that have had issues.
Nice job on improvising for the level level level process.

Good job on the level.
I locktite blue on mine. And once finished I dab a little red nail polish across the cap screw to the ring so I can see at a glance if the bolt has backed out.

Sam and Tex..... Thanks for the comments!

I think these work just as well as the Wheeler PRLS and similar devices but cost considerably less. I think I bought mine for $12-15 at academy sports.

As for locktite I do use the blue stuff sparingly on bases and rings. I like the idea of marking them afterward as a visual aide. I feel pretty silly for never thinking of that on my own.

Don't worry Tex drove his mower in the pond, I think he has you beat........
-
Yeah, and I can't take credit for the nail polish trick. Read that in Plaster's sniper manual.
I did get the mower running again Shawn. Was kinda hoping it be an excuse for a new zero turn, but no such luck.
-
Yeah, taking ours for a dip didn't kill it either & like you I was hoping. Mainly because it was HH6's fault..... :likebutton:

I also stopped by the auction house on the way home and picked up a Ruger Red Label 20 gauge I bought via internet auction on Saturday. Sight unseen I first thought the lower barrel what shot out but after many good scrubbings with Hoppes it was just dirty. You can see some use but not bad.
Want to try and get my son into Sporting Clays.

If you have a chance after you get some trigger time in, would you like to drop some reviews in the review thread?

I have that same ruger in 12 ga with synthetic stock. Nice weapon and good pickup there.

I am not the gun expert you guys are. I go through a dealer. I recently found a Savage .270 at a big box store for $400. I almost grabbed it but I gave my guy a call. He ordered the exact same gun for me plus 2 boxes of shells he lock tighted the scope AND sighted it in for me. Price $405.

Will do. The weather is terrible here now so hopefully I can get out before Winter blows in. Oh yeah.. I should buy some shells for it. I only have 12ga.
Bob I would love to have a great gun dealer around here but there isn't any. The one we did have just shut down. He never had much of a gun selection and always made you feel like you were interrupting their chit chat session to ask a question. So I never went back. I even bought a gun there and it was still a weird vibe. Glad you have a good local one.

That Savage is a good gun for the money
I picked up that weapon in .308
Sighted it in, and for 200-250 meters which we shoot here in the Tuck, it's deer killin' crazy good.
