Title: kubota tractors
Post by: Nate on January 06, 2022, 06:25:08 PM
i thought i would start a thread for the orange tractor fans.

I bought a BX2680 4x4 HST dec 28th 2021 with a FEL that has skid steer quick attach, a land pride true 3rd function valve kit, front mounted pto driven snow blower, turf tires, and in the spring of 2022 i will be taking possession of a 52" pto driven reverse tine roto tiller.

as of the creation of this thread, i have only had 1 snow storm to clear, and ill be darned if that thing did not even sweat while working it.

here are some really helpful links for those that would like them:

just about every thing kubota manuals  - http://kubotabooks.com/AutoIndex/index.php?dir=

I have some other links that i will copy later.

Yesterday, I fired up the Track-steer, hooked up to my post hole digger

To keep it from rusting, I'll first bore a hole then retract the auger, then pour the hole full of used motor oil. THen I just run the auger down into the hole again and. voila' The thing stays in place, easy to hook back up, and does not rust

So I curl into the top part of the attachment, then curl back to engage the bottom. I curl too far and hear a "Boom."

I then hoist up the top part of the auger, broken off the bottom part...

Yea...

So, I'll start a new thread myself

Call it, "Don's farmin' N' Abuse thread"

No pics and it did happen!

I purchased a used 2014 L3800 HST last fall.  Had about 1000 hours at the time or purchase. Came with a FEL, and 64" 3 pt snowblower.  Ag tires are filled with Beet Juice. I changed all the fluids and filters and installed a block heater.

I plan to purchase or build a finish mower for next year primarily to keep the wild parsnips under control in the ditches. Will also be planning on installing a 3rd hydraulic function.

Throw my hat into the ring here.

2012 L45 with FEL and TL1000 backhoe. Only used the 3 point once dragging a 72in land pride box blade. Never missed a beat. Although the BH is nice, dropping is easy it tends to be a pain to use. Why I got a Bobcat 331.

L45 does not have the 3rd function in front but would like to add it as I have an auger and breaker but both of those work on the Gehl Skidsteer fine.

I have thought about trading up for a newer tractor W/O backhoe as I have the 331 that can go more places.

You might consider selling it outright

Market for equipment is hot. You'll 1. do better and 2. Sell pretty easily right now

I love the L45, good size and power, 4x4, no emissions.

Just needs a cab and front hydro. BH can be a pain.

have you looked at messicks for the 3rd function valve?

there were a few cabs for sale on those sites i posted.

So why not just use it when the weather is ok? Not like you don’t have plenty of toys. I am looking at getting a snow plow for mine, but usually when it snows at home I am down here.

I have found the kits but hit a wall when I ask about the plumbing. Sure, tap the line and do a return (my FEL is hard plumbed) and your set.

Orange tractor talk is a good forum to gain knowledge and advice on kubotas

I asked there over a year ago, never got a response. maybe the FB might yield the info.

All I need to know is where to tap for the feed and return. Sure I could figure it out, but if someone knows, why not share?

The L45 has all the controls on the right fender, not out front on the FEL like consumer tractors. L series are more for rental use, built heavier.

Heck, this thing pulled the container rig with 50ft trailer out that was stuck on my property and the container was still hanging off the back.

I was needing or wanting some sort of a small tool box for my little machine.

I have seen several different options on several different forums, and this is what i came up with to fulfill my needs.

I took
- 2 ammo cans
- 2 ea 1 1/4" square tubing
- 2 ea 6" x 10" x 1/8th" steel plate
- trimmed all of the pieces i needed, painted them kubota orange and kubota grey to match oe paint
- and bolted it all together.

Now i just have to get a few tools and prep my ballast box when it shows up.

Glad you got yours on, I have the same sitting up there but never seem to get to it while there.

Here is something cool I saw on the L forums; https://www.facebook.com/jere.beck/videos/458774299271448

Are you going to add any rubber coating inside the boxes? Keep rattling to a minimum

Don't mean the cases, rags. I have a place up front for long items inside the FEL frame. One case is enough for me, I have a couple things thrown in the back on the BH floor.

I use the tool boxes. Extra clevis pins and clips, some bolts with nuts to use in place of the clevis which will fall off or you can use the bolt to hold something together until you get back to the garage, and of course a grease gun and some rags.

Grease mine up pretty much everyday before use. Plus the electric has me spoiled.

My L45 has some pockets on the side by the cup holder (2 very important things) They are filled with all that and why I haven't got the case mount.

tow/carry straps, pins, fencing hammer-wrench-cutter, utility blade, tape measure and a 100ft tape hanging off the side. Magnetic flashlight as I tend to work well after dark.

My ballast box showed up today, so i got right to work by drilling out the cat 0 pin holes and installing cat 1 pins.

After that i taped off a few open areas that would leak concrete.

I then mixed 4 bags of crete and dumped them in the box.

My 3ph is only rated at like 600lbs, and my front end loader (FEL) is rated for roughly 700lbs (i turned up the hydraulics just a tad).  So with the box weighing 100lbs, and 4 bags of crete (once cured) for 360lbs and 2 massive 3/4" grade 100 lifting chains (used for lifting abrams tanks....dont ask) that weigh roughtly 100lbs a piece, i think i should have enough ballast to do things around here.

For a chinese box that cost less than what it would have cost to make it locally, i guess i can live with the farmall red instead of the kubota orange.

Maybe ill get bored one day and change it to orange?

Looks good.  What does it weigh?

Tractor supply carries the matching Kubota paint.(and other implement colors)

after it cures and i put the 2 big chains in it, it should come in roughly 600lbs +.  that will give me some decent counter balance for when using the FEL or the forks.

yeah, i have as can of kubota orange from when i did the tool boxes, but that was the only can they had in stock.  well see how the red paint holds up over the next year....and maybe it will become a winter project to scuff it, prime it and paint it to match.

That should help out a lot with any FEL work.  The fluid in my rear tires goes a long ways, but having the snowblower on the back right now really helps with stability with the heavy lifting tasks.  I will be looking to fabricate up some type of rear ballast for the 3 point to use when the snowblower isn't attached.

Couple of take-aways:

A Ku-boat-eer!

Nothing runs off like a Deere...runs off wit yur money!

What did the farmer do when his wife runned off? He Tract-er...

You gotta handle yer tract-er like a woman, all soft like...

I think i did it all for under $50.

The mirrors were $23
The magnets were $18 i think
The stainless hardware was $4
The paint and steel were already on hand

Not a tractor but 4 of these generators popped up on auction. I can't find much info on them. I believe they are discontinued. There is another generation of Kubota generator on the market. I would love to pick one of these up, but I think they will be out of my reach. I need a minimum of 7kw generator these are 12. Much overkill but will run my camper plus guest with ease. My 4k generators were working way too hard just to keep mamma cooled off.

Looks similar to my 7000 lowboy but no box. Mine is just a 2 cyl though.
