Bobby,

I was just going to ask if you were hanging out with Duane there. Speaking of whom, isn't there some light refraction solar oven system we are missing out on?

That was more of " I actually got some sleep and was enjoying my morning coffee," type response

Well, if those flying pieces took out your bro and not you, then you could eat his egg/potato thing ;-))

But you'd end up carrying him, and burning off his portion and yours..

I also approve this meal, however it's still screaming for some pepperjack, swiss or fresh cheddar, but that's just me.

Nothing beats an aircraft exhaust

Like walking into a big windy warm blanket.

Unless you are wearing a parachute and other items. Or you're in the exhaust overseas and you're already sweating like crazy, then it's just annoying.

The flying peices of geological surface might slice the potato.  Might ease the anger.

Hm.. field expedient homestyle potatoes and eggs  ;D

Cook the egg on a rock heated in the fire as the potato cooks.  Then you don't lose any of it.

I was going to say that, but someone who doesn't know to avoid certain types of rock would try it, resulting in the rock overheating, and suffer a catastrophic failure of its surface structure, resulting in flying pieces of hardened geological surface,  resulting in minor/major epidermal, vascular and musculatory injuries.

Or more realistically the egg would fall into the fire and they'd get mad.

Remember the brownies?

Used to roll them up in a ball and throw them up onto the ceiling to see how long it/they would stay there with being noticed or falling.

Remember the story I wrote about Top finding me and my tank crew back in the day. in a canteen cup he doled out green eggs, then covered that with spaghetti, and topped it all with peaches...and I ate every last bit of it!

Once in the field during a particularly cold rainy training cycle , my squad (due to one of the guys having a small propane stove and supplies from a previous 4x4 trip) and I made spaghetti so as to have an actual HOT meal. It was quickly realized there was no protein involved. Undaunted by the horror that awaited us at the risk of having subpar spaghetti, I reached into my ruck and retrieved the finishing touches to the meal, a pack of Tuna. Yes, we made Tuna spaghetti and it was awesome.

Speaking of green eggs, I thoroughly enjoyed the T rats.. eggs, cheese, little "sausage" chunks, again liberally covered in hot sauce.

I guess I'll be the Neanderthal here. Heck, I'd just brush off the dust and eat it as is. And that assembly would fit in your pocket to eat later as a meal. Protein and carbs for when you're on the move. All you'd need is some salt!

Oh if that's all I had for the near future I'd eat it as well, BUT, IOT cook the egg in the potato you (the guy in the video) ended up throwing extra carbs/protein on the ground when he scooped out the inside.

don't mind it either bobby, I was just being boo boo lipped and trying to stay awake.

Suck it up Sarge, take a knee, face out, drink water, change your socks, take a motrin, avoid 2LT's and drive on.

And go have breakfast then crash and sleep. At least that's what I did when I got off CQ/SD. Hit the DFAC, pile eggs, biscuits, hashbrowns on a plate, cover liberally with sausage gravy and hot sauce, followed up with sleep.

Nice. Congrats on the purchase.

Already ordered a Raptor kit...$125 with shipping, be here Wednesday

Went to get some this morn, but the paint store no longer carries it, so I'm back to       A & W (Amazon and wait)

O'Reilly Auto, AutoZone and et al, generally have Herculiner for sale in there, that's pretty good stuff as well. If they do, then you won't have to wait, which means more build thread for us all to read...

Bobby,

You ever visited or see the Fulda gap from the cold war days?

Back when I was an aeroscout pilot for the 3rd I.D., the 11th ACR covered the Fulda Gap area. I've been up there in my trusty jet ranger a time or two. Beautiful country!

Honestly, I can't remember if I ever did or not.

2329

There was a small suunto compass in there as a backup to my etrex 30 which I normally use on outdoor treks. It is just a barebones compass though as I don't have a map in my pack.

What do you typically use for camo paint/make up?

Go to the surplus store and get a lensatic compass with tritium. Preferably 2.

Surplus store or those online surplus sites will have the camo sticks for cheap. In a pinch to camo up grease, boot polish, mud, dirt will all work. Various amounts of time and climate will dictate how long they last and how effective they are. But remember going green (getting camo'd up) doesn't always mean, slathering camo paint on your face and throwing BDUs on. Blending into the surrounding and not sticking out in the crowd will serve you better.

Point: When I left Bragg, I went and toured the local 4 yr college. I had grown my hair out, and had a beard, so I didn't look like a soldier. I had people asking me for directions and assuming I was a student there. My point being, is hiding in plain sight is easier than most people think.

I still have a habit of appearing when people aren't expecting me, or hiding in plain sight. Look at the area you live in, and how to the vast majority of people dress? You probably dress the same or similarly, that in itself is effective camo.

The nail that sticks up gets hammered. Or however that proverb goes.

I think you need a different color to break up the green. My opinion.

Might also want to get a rescue 8 instead of the regular figure 8.  The wings on it allow you to take a wrap and work hands free or provide additional braking with a heavy load.  Like doing a buddy/casualty repel for instance.

Yea those make it A LOT easier... slack..tension.....slack...slack...slack.... TENSION!!!

2337
Bobby, the setup I'm working with is a 2:1 so I should be ok.  I may get a foot strap and tie a prusik to help on longer climbs.  I won't be off the ground very far at first.

I also need to get my rope manual out and re-learn some knots and rope termination.

I meant it as, most people when they start climbing use their arms more to hoist themselves up the face of the obstacle. That leads to fatigued arms, they don't think about using their legs, which have larger muscles and won't tire as easily once you get them used to climbing and bracing yourself.

2338
Thanks Bobby. My wife will be my ground crew and 911 alert system...

I won't climb with no one else around

The craziest thing I heard was that people have rappelled of the end of their rope by not knowing if the rope was all the way to the ground...

People do dumb things on ropes. If you have people in your area that already climb, see if you can get with them and learn the ropes (pun not intended). Prepare your legs for a workout, use them not your arms. I wish there was places around here I could get back into it.

I have to find my notebooks of info on climbing and etc I have somewhere. I don't wanna give out bad advice.

2339
Well,  I decided that I needed to learn to ascend and rappel.  For personal enjoyment and for climbing and felling trees, antenna towers, etc.

So I ordered a harness, ascenders, ropes, and stuff today.  I will share my learning experiences here.  I hope that its not updated from a hospital bed, or worse, but it will be what it will be.

Stay tuned.

Spend the time getting the knots down, and I mean really LEARN them. Spend a little bit extra time getting the harness adjusted. Keep your ropes clean, visually and physically check the entire length of rope, store them properly and maintain them so they don't fail when you really don't want them to.

If you can have a climbing buddy.

It sometimes is due to how you have your phone orientated when taking the pic.

Do you guys have anything for gaining weight...all I've seen on this forum is for shedding!

GNC or a nutrition store would/should/more than likely have some shakes you can drink to add weight. Unless you are a good cook or are married to a good cook and can pack in the calories that way.

2346
Bobby that would be the 201 and 301 level class for sure!!

The most hard core (no pun intended) thing I ever saw was a Filipino trainer who could stand with his heels against the wall.  With knees straight, bend down and hold the wheel  at his feet and then extend all the way out to horizontal and then return to the standing position, never bending the knees.  Un believable.

I need to get one of those wheelie things, or just make one...

Since beginning of last month I"m down 15-20 lbs.

2347
Try that out with your feet elevated, or if you are truly sadistic to yourself, with your feet elevated on one of those big beach ball looking things..

I have two GA Precisions.  A 308 and 300.

The first one is the 300 with a McMillan stock and the US Optics I had at the time.  Its accurate too, about a 3/8-1/2 gun

The 308 with my handloads shoots a 5 shot 1/4 group at 100.  Its absolutely scary.  It was built by Moon and is a remy 700 with jewel trigger, McMillan stock, and a Bartlein 19 inch barrel threaded for my Thunderbeast 30-P1 suppressor.  It has the S&B PMII on it and that thing is a sweet stick.

I like the way you party Senor.

^^^^ Crazy money right there!

You were talking about upgrading your 300. Send it to GAP or a reputable builder and tune her up.
