First and foremost: "all have sinned an fall short of the glory of God" but, thankfully:
Romans 5 (KJV)
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
So, many want to justify their objection, based upon one's past transgressions- God has forgiven them by acceptance of his free gift of salvation and the individuals request of forgiveness and acceptance of God Salvation. We, at that point are wiped clean as Canadian Arctic Snow- THAT'S GOD'S GIFT TO US! That's the model of forgiveness- he doesn't say that what you did is ok, what he says is that HE PAID THE PRICE OF DEATH- go and sin no more! Tall order and we ALL fall short, but we continue in the communion of worship with God, as forgiveness and soldier on, striving for Godliness, but we may fall short- but we don't quit, just as God doesn't quit on us.
GOD doesn't change his standard of acceptance, nor does he change his standard of right or wrong- he's a constant. Do you stop being a Navy Seal, Army Ranger etc. if you get hurt, fall short in one aspect of a mission? No, you regroup, recharge and soldier on until you no longer have breath in your lungs, blood in your veins or life in your body. So it is for all Christians- the mission's rules of engagement don't change, the goal is the same, but the battlefield, opponents and obstacles might vary! Just as in the military, work and society, Christians come in all shapes, sizes, handicaps and flaws- but we are ALL judged by the same standard and ultimately the same judge.
I too have been let down in a body of faith, denominational church and individual Christians, and I too have been on the giving end of the same. We continue the fight the good fight, grow in our weaknesses and hopefully turn them into strengths. Do we judge people? Yes, should we, not really, but we recognize and evaluate their behavior based upon the standard to which we know we all, as Christians, should live. It doesn't EVER make sin OK, the standard doesn't lower, society's evolution (degradation) doesn't make it acceptable!
I'm 52- a man stuck at the tail-end of the Baby Boom and one foot in the next Generation......The BIBLE SPANS THEM ALL! We don't condemn the sinner, rather the sin- we call-out Christians for their falls from grace and should have a higher standard of expectations for them, because we've got the PLAY BOOK and should know better. The unsaved, the lost, whomever they are and whatever their sins - they are all able to be WHIPED AWAY and gain the gift of Eternal Life, because of one man - JESUS.
EVERY rational for being against this view or that view, will not justify a change in the standard of God's Laws - that we should all be able to agree upon. We are all good men here, we can have different views on many things- God's Word is consistent, we may all just struggle a bit with our understanding of it, necessitating further study and prayer for clarity from God.
It's a good and valid discussion- thanks to everyone for sharing your views. Don't know if I'm right or wrong- it's just what I know at this point in my faith!

I thought along the same lines as RN and HC though I also feel it's right to stand up for Christian values. I know we cannot legislate morality, but we can DEMAND upholding and ENFORCING the laws we have, enforcing the separation of powers under the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and we can speak-up when ANY of the 3 branches of government oversteps its bounds!
I feel we should all pray on it, continue to discuss it, research pitfalls to doing so, prepare properly prior to taking forward action and set a deadline for making our decision.
Keep bouncing this around-

Had a thought and ran it by Don:
What if WE housed the fund donations for the Kentucky County Clerk who's standing on her beliefs and religious convictions? Since "Go Fund Me" is pushing its anti-religious agend, why don't we stand-up for her and provide a trust worthy site that's housed close to the scene of the controversy?
What say you all?
If there's enough support, Don's behind it and we can all spitball ideas to get this outside of our small community and get it out there!

The majority of the American public dont see a problem with Police or the way they do their jobs...I DO think there is a problem with media and the way they do theirs. When I was a kid, FCC had rules and regs. that the media actually had to abide by, news articles were actually verified before going to print and off color/vulgar material was forbidden (if not all together) until after 9pm.
I truly wish that EVERYONE would demand the type of scrutiny placed on Law Enforcement and Public Schools were shifted to Politicians and Government. The amount of scrutiny is detrimental to doing the very job each is supposed to do, while Politicians operate with impunity braking and ignoring the very laws they're supposed to uphold with attitudes of stereotypic Royal Tyrants!
I think the French actually got things right way back when!

Hey Bobby-
I've been using a Fitbit (Fat Bit for me) and a phone app that sync. with it called "my fitness pal"
I thought about a FitBit, but I wear a watch on one wrist and a KIA or the 550 bracelet I made during an Operation in 05 on the other. The My Fitness Pal works on IPads as well, if you take a pic of the bar code on the foods you eat, assuming it has one, it automatically uploads it for you.
But now that you mentioned you have and have been using the FitBit, you should throw up a review.
I used to wear a FitBit HR, but ditched it because it just told me how I didn't work out enough lol
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's why mine is my "Fatbit" since I'm not quite "fit" yet, well except the pants did, and now are loose! See- nothins' FIT

So after a trip to the Dr. in April, where he informs me that I'm fat, and have high blood pressure, I decided to get off my backside and address the issue. Started at 205 lbs. with BP in the Hypertensive/High boarder region and 5' 10" height.
Figured I'd get a Fitbit to monitor things and possibly motivate myself to keep at it. Settled on the HR which monitors steps, heart rate, calories burned, hours slept and times awake/restless, flights of stairs climbed, miles traveled and will track work out time via a stop watch and tells time and date too. Price was around $130 and I added a Fitbit scale, that links to the computer and the Fitbit phone app. for about the same price. Why the scale you ask? Well, I step on it daily after the 3 S's of the morning and it takes the reading giving me my weight down to tenths of a pound and BMI in % which is logged and graphed via the computer and phone apps. which I cannot lie about or kid myself that the scale must be off!
Using these to devices, limiting myself to 1760 calories a day and trying to keep sodium at 1500mg a day, I'm down to 188 and a BMI of 26% fat. I use "My Fitness Pal" to count calories and track sodium and other nutrients. No formal work-out other than chasing after the dogs training for and competing in Field Trials.
Fitbit Review:
Uses an internal, rechargeable battery which it says lasts for up to 5 days on a charge. More like 3-4 max, less if you're active etc. I learned from a friend at work to just plug it into the truck USB to charge it while driving to work since no steps etc. are really involved. Heart rate from idiot drivers yes, but why log the negative! ;)
The calorie app/Fitbit sync is great, as it cross references with the Fitbit data calories burned and let's you know how much more you COULD eat if you're trying to maintain a target weight- gotta ignore that if you're trying to loose! You can scan UPC codes on food to auto enter calories and the data base on other things is awesome. You can even enter your own recipes and it'll break them down by calories from servings made by the recipe. You can enter fractions of servings etc. so it's an accurate way to see what you're really stuffing in the ol' pie hole!
You can eat what you want provided you enter and track it and still loose weight- you can also go over and it'll tell you the damage done when you close the daily log with a message of "You'd weigh __ in 5 weeks if every day was like today". This summer, there were a few days (last weekend) that were "canwich" days.....BEER IS FOOD!
My Fitness Pal with Fitbit app tracks steps, heart rate (current & resting), miles traveled, calories burned, floors climbed, time active, time sleeping, water drank, lbs. left til reaching goal, calories eaten & burned. Deeper logs include sleep cycle, nutrients and many other options.
It's pretty acurate with its counting and tracking of what it monitors- obviously it uses averages for step measurement etc. Stairs climbed counts changes in elevation of every 10' as a flight of stairs and only logs going up. Remember this for later.
Checking time was initially done by tapping the small screen, an upgrade has it now done via a flick of the wrist. This can be turned off back to tap on if desired. It lights up the bedroom in the dark pretty good so that drains the battery some while you sleep and would be a tactical issue, but since it can be bypassed should be GTG. Further taps scroll through each log. Sleep and weight are only logged via the phone or computer.
Would I recommend it? YES, because it works, and I'm only scratching the surface of the abilities of them both. Ultimately, the key feature is you using them, they're not magic, but a tool.
Things you must do:
Be realistic, because while on horseback it counts twice the steps and you're not making any of them! In Missouri training the dogs, I topped out at 49,000 steps one day, climbed 175 flights of stairs (hills of Missouri was what I hinted at with the 10 elevation thing) and burned ridiculous calories. Now, clearly, I'd made my 10,000 step goal each day on my own, and it does read MY heart rate, not a horses so calories burned weren't skewed as far as steps verse heart rate. Some common sense must be applied in similar situations- working a chainsaw, hammering if worn on dominant wrist and other similar activities will skew things as well.
Keep it charged, the harder it works, the faster the battery drains- horseback burned it up with all the tracking.
The scale can be used by up to 8 different persons and it'll log each different- don't know how all that works, cause I'm the only one doing it in the house.
Hope this helps anyone interested in "what it does and is it worth it"?

Hey Bobby-
Since Vertigo episode, I've been using a Fitbit (Fat Bit for me) and a phone app that sync. with it called "my fitness pal" which lets you set parameters such as sodium limits and calorie limits. You enter what you eat (extensive data base and ability to plug in own recipes too Nate) and it tracks you calories etc. Since April, doing only that, I've lost 20+ pounds. If/when I add work-out it'll rapidly increase, but vertigo during a run is kinda sketchy- face down on strangers lawn could get sporty!
Anyway, other than the couple of days I was about to rip into the cupboard and binge, it's been pretty easy with steady results. Main thing I discovered is the incredible amount of salt in almost everything! I don't use any and almost always meet or exceed those limits! Good news was that month follow-up with Dr. I'd dropped my BP down to where he wanted it and was impressed.....still said I was fat (in his head anyway).
Got the Fitbit scale too to keep me honest- daily weigh in and it logs in the computer and my phone automatically-weight and % body fat. I'd suggest they allow you to plug in your own negative reinforcement though- phrases like:
"Hey good job biscut........shy of 240!" "Nice try there puddin' now put both feet on the scale" "Hey there buttercup, Christmas isn't for 5 months, better put down the fork sooner today"

Big D- when you live in the land of "Do What I Want, When I Want, Because I Want To" with free rent, food and no negative repercussions for ones actions, it's kinda hard to expect them to CHOOSE to do any hard work, when sitting on ones backside is profitable.
Until the continual entitlement spigot runs dry, or gets turned off, nothing is going to change their mindset.

I think with the finishing (almost) of the rear bumper thing ah-ma-jig, I'll close out that chapter of this ongoing, ever changing build and start up again here.
The focus of this thread will be initially to get the engine running and sorted out. Following that, any transmission work that is required and the development of a "Punch-out" list to getting the truck to an early operational point
I say early, because right after the thing becomes drivable, I'll need to add some leaves to the front springs, then probably install the much longer rear Chevy Silverado springs out back, then get into the side rock rail/armor/step things, and then go on to a number of other projects which this truck will see.
The early "Punch-out" list is looking like this: 1. Fix leak in fuel filler neck 2. Fix main fuel tank vent system 3. Find and fix binding accelerator pedal cable 4. Reroute fuel line to make it easier to prime the Kennedy pumps 5. Purge the fuel system 6. Connect the brake pedal to the master cylinder 7. Top up all fluids 8. Get an initial run in on the engine, then adjust and top up fluids 9. Fab up a belly plate for fuel lines and critical things 10. Build aft bulkhead for snorkel system 11. Build air plenum for snorkel system 12. Figure out how to wire in the over drive to a switch of some sort 13. Plump in the air conditioner condenser, dryer, and lines 14. As wiring is finalized, install sheath over loose wires running all over the place 15. Mount and plumb in the new aux fuel tank 16. Add in front leaves to beef up front springs 17. install new rear springs and flip the shackle 18. Re route exhaust system to clear new configuration 19 Fab new drivers door panel as a weapon/bag mount 20.Build rear hatch/door combo
Remember my dad doing similar with an old style floor light dimmer switch- yes kids, used to have to stomp left corner of driver's side floor to make the lights go bright/dim

or you could hay it yourself and sell it, but equipment for such is costly, dangerous to operate/maintain and nasty hot work unless you enjoy doing it. Another option, is to burn those fields- would bring back prairie quite quickly, with new growth producing top quality wildlife habitat and hay that a farmer might be interested in, without the cost of planting alfalfa etc. and said farmer MAY actually pay you something for taking the hay off of it. Norm could probably give you the straight path on this tack should you be interested.
Yay field work.... oh wait.. I'm not falling for this again.

I used to be part of a training lease where you mowed as part of your payment to train dogs on the place. 260 acres, trees, tree lines and sculpted edges around "objectives" for the dogs to run. Once I slowed down, I broke down less and actually spent more time mowing, less time fixing. 3 laps around everything each time out, next time 3 laps around next section inside everything cut last trip and so on- always cut roadway/paths, but bulk of fields only went totally away once/twice a season with the edges being contoured as above so that cover thin in middle field, edges grew-up tapered for wildlife etc. Restarted every season along the tree-lines so that the tapered effect/rotation was consistent. Lease I was at was enrolled in CRP Program, so some areas stayed uncut until the next year- not thinking you'd go that route, but you could generate cash that way if you'd want to.
IF, you should find a farmer in said area that you trust, you could arrange for them to come and cut the bulk of it for hay and save yourself some of that time and hassle- or you could hay it yourself and sell it, but equipment for such is costly, dangerous to operate/maintain and nasty hot work unless you enjoy doing it.
(Sorry for droning on, needed mental break from "Diabetes and You" video for work!)
