Found it

https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/pts/d/sunman-500-cadillac-engine/6804511728.html

Sunman Indiana

Want me to get it for you?

Apparently you need to take the whole car? I have a great vendor in Sunman, IN. lets hang tight for the moment and maybe I can square away this one in NE. I appreciate the offer.

Just did a quick check, but came up empty handed. I think I can find one though. Hey, Shawn, have you considered the 8.1 Chevy? 496 cu in and lots of parts.

I did and it is an option but would be a couple hundred more in weight than the caddy

Almost put one of those in my '73 GMC. Tossed the seized 500 in the scrap yard and went with a 400 Pontiac instead.

Well I found one in Columbus NE.......

Over in Nate & Norms stomping grounds I think? Buddy of mine had a 400 Pontiac in his M715 so think I'll pass on that. Was seriously considering an LS and although I like the idea of it and the weight it's like an opinion, everybody has one. I considered a 12v up until I decided it was way too heavy for my liking and had been done quite a bit. I tend to like unique builds and a stroked 541 that weighs in at around a SB Chevy would be pretty unique!

472’s need not apply, just what it states looking for a complete free spinning 500 from a 68-76 caddy. Closer to Denver the better but can and will pay for shipping.

Removed front bumper end caps, added some washers to rear tire carrier so tire would fit. Then added spare tire cover I had laying around. Still need to wire up light bar and a 1.75” level kit is in order. Current 32” tires will rub if she turns and hits bump too hard on fenders and front sway bar.

No, the underground base, a big one at Denver airport is a fact.

Well then, do tell more....
Just research, the amount of concrete that went into that is only matched by the grand coulee dam!

Well an airport runway at 4’ deep the crete would add up quick..... but yeah 6 million yards is a bit!

I was noting the thousands of approaches I made to Ft. Campbell Rwy 22 which is now Rwy 23. Everywhere is changing except for one really weird region. The South Pacific Anomaly as it has come to be called is an area where the reversal seems to have already happened in part. Cosmic rays there can nearly reach the surface. Flying at altitude through there is dangerous. A solar storm will likely take out ground electronics if it is a wee bit stronger. All quiet for now, but Brazil is going to become a very bad place to live in the very near future.

I haven't found any evidence for a "Soft-Reversal." Apparently each time it happens, normally once every 300,000 or so years it triggers an extinction event. If the reversal takes several hundred years it is survivable, apparently. The one we are currently experiencing may complete its cycle in a human lifetime, 80 years. Ladies and Gentlemen, put your seatbelts on...

Again no need to worry. Stay prayed up and live your life. It is what it is. Nothing at all that anyone can do to change it.

But I now begin to understand why our government has gone underground with so many projects. Base near you Shawn at the Denver airport. One reportedly has a submarine in storage well underground...!

Yeah, thinking the airport (sub levels are entrance to it) the base I believe is due west under what would appear to be an old landfill (one that never had trash brought in but came about as quick as the building of the airport) tin foil hat and all that implies....

4266
Unfortunately knew that was coming next just surprised me how quick....

Oh, and thanks for the Droman steam pipe part numba

A set of four cost $6.95, on the way

Almost done cleaning and reconditioning pieces parts. Taking a gamble on the starter. May be original, but was working fine, so a good cleaning, some paint and I'll bolt it back on.

Was thinking of doing something cool with the plastic cover to tie the new color scheme altogether.

Starter....

Do you not have an auto electric rebuild shop close by you can have that starter gone thru? Napa can send them out and have them done too but most often there is a little family owned specialty shop that could freshen that unit up for you....

Ken, bend a couple coat hangers, handle with a 90* bend and a foot or so straight wire. Hold them straight out in front of you and depending on how you hold them they will either cross or turn away from each other following the path of the pipe. Set a steel bar or water pipe on the ground and give it a try before you discount it as witchcraft. I have found culvert pipes under the road, water lines, phone cables, tools lost in the grass and even a small gold nugget and dowsed two water wells. I am not into ghost hunting and other dark side stuff so can not and will not speak to those practices. Don't know how or why they work but they sure do.

Bob, love you dearly as well so please take no offense. I am not a ghost hunter nor do I watch that crap but have lived in a 100+ year old farmhouse that had "issues"  on several occasions early on it had me awake and armed with my G22 in the wee hours walking the perimeter of the home. After 7 years nothing surprised me or my dog who I'm pretty sure could actually see stuff. My wife and kids saw stuff, I only heard odd things. I guess I did see our chandelier over the stairs get blacked out as if someone was upstairs walking a couple of times. I was told NO very sternly several times, heard children outside my bathroom window giggling and playing at 5 am and heavy sighs now and again over my shoulder which I thought at the time were the golden only to find she was put up in her kennel in our laundry room with the door latched...….

No issues since we sold that place and moved to hippy land, just straight up bat chit crazy people here!

Bob, I don't practice witchcraft. :)

Shawn, smartest thing you've ever said.

Ken, it isn’t witchcraft. My father in law who owned an excavation company for years pulled that trick on field tiles on more than one farm I owned. First time he pulled out the rods I laughed & about 15 mins later I was sold! Get someone who knows what they are doing and it’s amazing!

Volunteering to eat free food? Yea I can do that, however if you talked to people I work with I generally don't partake in the potlucks et al the coworkers have. I feel weird eating people's food; well maybe weird isn't the correct term, just don't prefer to eat food some people prepare.

Well, today was our first day visiting colleges with our oldest Baylee. We drove 40 mins to Greeley, CO. Which is the home of UNC (University of Northern CO) homes of the division I bears. Nice campus with many confused individuals, a normal college setting. We may visit a couple more however Baylee seems to have her mind set on this university to gain her nursing degree following in mommas foot steps. Place seemed to have many opportunities and we think she will be eligible for quite a bit of scholarship funds.

Well, unfortunately it was lazy boy (all we purchased so far is living room, main items). This amounted to a very large sectional and a couple recliners. I’ve had good luck with the recliners in past with lifetime warranty on mechanical. We do have the extended 3 yr on everything so we will see.

The total quote for first floor (kitchen, dining and living room) was more than I cared to spend and the only items they had in stock I could actually look at were the three we purchased.

Our largest expense is going to be the 6 chairs for the bar and the 6-8 for the table. Thinking of doing a tall dining table that way bar chairs can be pulled over to dining table for cards etc when we have a lot of guests over.

I tried to talk Baylee into more conservative tires and wheels, I lost that battle. She did decide to keep the tire height manageable to keep fuel mileage and drive ability within reason. She also has a new Bluetooth kenwood deck coming in too.

Baylee’s job’s

Duluth trading sales associate
Nanny & tutor after school
Babysitter (random parents)
Rec center day care

I call that patchwork economics...

Mom & Dad help offset insurance costs (crazy expensive) and provide fuel when she runs her sisters. We also finance things for the girls & pull maintenance. The idea for them buying their own car is a money lesson, saving and working for things. Ask Baylee if it’s expensive to be cool and see what she says!

is there a final word on this?  did usaa pay up or?

I could not convince USAA to pay more. I submitted 6-10 various comps and they found BS issues with 90% of them. Honestly, it was a joke. I needed it out of my shop so we negotiated pulling winch and bumper then reinstalling original (tack welded it on) and pulled light bar off rack. For the record I think they valued all three of those at about a bill so if there was any good news that was it.

My 12 year old side came out b4 copart picked it up and I added to Baylee’s clown sticker on her back window.

Big three autos? No thanks, unless as Don stated buy old and refurbish. I’ve struck out with both newer Ford and GM products lately which I might add were the larger truck or suv versions which are supposedly their bread and butter. I have no intention of spending hard earned dollars on the overpriced junk. My last purchase was Toyota and so far pretty hard to beat I think.
