Sounds like someone was power braking the heck out of that little motor.

Thought crossed my mind.....

5502
I know a guy who has an amazing pickup for a growing family,  it’s red with lots of bed space.   Seems to be really well maintained. Reasonable price compared to all those new things with more potential issues you mentioned.

Dave, something I learned long ago in business. Never get in a bidding war, it's great for your ego and bad for your wallet...…..

5503
Maybe you need to raise the sights a bit and look elsewhere for a new rig. :beercheers:

Bob, you're not being helpful either. You just got lumped in with the likes of Don...….. :knucklehead:

5504
Does that motor site sideways in the bay?

To buy or to fix?

Straight, it will get fixed. Part of the problem currently is the two new vehicles I’m interested in are not yet released. Which is the bronco & the Jeep pickup....

5505
Pay a little less now...

Pay a little more later on...

I don’t think from my research I paid any less for the ford & the least expensive truck I ever drove was in fact a ford (2002 f-350 7.3l 4x4).....

Btw, you’re not helping.....

5506
It’s all under powertrain warranty. Nate, don’t tempt me I have $5k worth of GM card incentives too that I would like to cash in.....

The wife and I have also been discussing narrowing the fleet a bit. With Baylee driving that’s another vehicle to insure and have available for use if one breaks down. We’re limited on space here in hippy land so that would give me more work space in garage too. Within a year I’m going to have a second daughter with vehicle driving. Wife’s car will be close to 100k on odometer by years end. So we have discussed selling the truck, and trading in her Lexus. Get her something that fits the family & can pull a small trailer when we need it. Yes, Jeep can pull small trailer too. So we’ll see.....

Jeep pickup with diesel is supposed to be out early next year too....

5507
Update: Claim that the video is not my motor and doesn't apply.

At my insistence they kept the truck for an extra week to see if they could get it to do this random long start. As of last Thursday (super hot day here) they did get it to stumble start on one occasion on a hot start while it was hooked to computer. The data from the crank sensor didn't look right. So they were replacing that last Friday and asked to keep it thru the weekend to finish up Monday and test which I agreed thinking it was a good idea.

So this morning I get a call, they apparently came into the shop this morning with a big red puddle of transmission fluid under it. Appears to be front seal leaking and they are pulling the transmission now.....

I'm leaning more and more towards selling this......

You will never be sorry for a getting a little to much, but always regret not getting enough. All the verticals use the same room and many are 110v. Sure 2 stage and 220v is better but then they get pricey. You can always tap into the dryer for the unit, did that for years.

I think we discussed this & his dryer wasn’t close. Maybe I need to drive to Lincoln and wire a 220v outlet for him....

I started at 6 this morning with a pick ax tearing up some dead sod 10 foot by 20 foot area getting it ready to lay weed mat & stone (once I get my truck back to haul stone on trailer). Took me about an hour and half and I was covered in dirt & sweat. Took shower then ran and got groceries for the week including the 3rd & 4th as we’re hosting here, our deck has a nice view of local works so it’s become a standard for us to host.

Then measured up the downstairs bathroom for new trim & ship lap a couple walls along with new light fixtures and paint. Supposed to redo that room next Saturday.

5511
Well, that’s different.......

My tools get used / abused so that would just be silly for my tool storage situation. But to each their own I suppose, probably something Ken might like.

Charles, we had issues back in Indiana with houses being sealed up too tight as well. As Dave stated in some cases fresh air handlers were installed. I have never heard of them here on the front range though but we don’t get as hot (including humidity) or near as cold as where I used to live. So my thought is temperature range has something to do with it too. I’m sure someone has a much better take on it than I but that’s my 2 cents.

I'll consult my wife and see if I can have her find the article, she's the nurse or was once upon a time. The basics of this and a quick google search will most likely pull up the information is that taking an Alka-Seltzer once a day is a preventative for kidney stones. Apparently what ever is in it helps to break up the stones.

Tonya (my better half) takes a preventative for migraines that works well for her, down side is it causes her to create stones. So this is one method she has had good results in keeping them at bay, better knock on wood for her now that I said that......

Nate, now that you cleaned it up I think that is essentially the same unit my grand dad had in his garage growing up. Probably pretty noisy & forever to fill up to pressure. Brought back some memories with those pics.....

Cast iron, single piston & most likely pretty easy to rebuild if needed. Not much to them, change the oil out & air filter

You know, find a couple retailers and you could probably find the farm off of these. Add a couple nice optional added value features and you could easily pull $500 a pair retail. Just a thought....
$500 a pair!
That much?
Well, thinking about it, the labor is there, and the wood if I had to pay for it is somewhere from $2.50-$3.00 a board foot...
But this wood looks better than the stuff I have seen for sale, and thicker. Starting with a 1" thick board, it only takes a single pass on each side, not too deep to get it glass smooth, less than a 1/4 inch for sure, so I am a bit thicker than 3/4" thick I'd say.

I live in hippy land, you’d sell them for $500 a pair all day long out here....

So I stumbled across this, amazingly the issue is identical to what I have described to the service tech at Ford. Also note this is the third time my truck has been to their shop. First time it had a fuel injection flush using BJ products. Second time it had both fuel pumps replaced under warranty. It has been doing this intermittently for the last 8k. I will be sending them this video tomorrow morning. I will report back what I find.

On another note I will be texting Norm this as his daughter has been having similar issues with her 2015 although that is a slightly different motor as the 2016 was second gen from my understanding.

Finished wiring the new hydraulic pump for my bender. With this I wired in a contactor & low voltage hand held pendant control. Good friend of mine helped with wiring diagram for the contactor to drop the voltage going into the pendant.

All I have left is to hook up a couple hydraulic hoses & add fluid / bleed air from system.

On my last steel order I had a couple pieces cut from 1/2” plate to make an auxiliary frame for my bender. The standard frame allows 90 degree bends but the auxiliary allows 180 bends. With the help of my swag press brake shop press bender I built this auxiliary frame for around $80 versus full retail of over $500  score!  :likebutton:

Interesting fact, Stranahans here in Denver pumps moisture into their warehouse where the barrels are stored to keep humidity at 40% constant. Being this is high desert 40% is as high as they can get the concrete block building up to. The reason they do this is to keep evaporation to a minimum.

The other interesting fact is that the evaporation of the bourbon has been called “angel shares” ever since grain whiskey was produced. I think it started in Scotland actually & correct me if I’m wrong but I believe they age their scotch a minimum of 3 years versus bourbon which is 2 years. So back in the early 1800’s apparently the Scottish didn’t understand evaporation. So since their whiskey was stored under lock & key to be aged the only explanation for the loss was that the angels must have come down & stole a bit. Thus the term angel shares.   :likebutton:

Let me guess. She played the ole "I'm afraid of what he might do" card, and daddy came running?

Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Honestly, I don’t think so. Granted I’m 6’3” but I’ve never put a hand on a female in anger & this was more frustration anyhow so it really wasn’t an anger situation.

The back story is Daddy was worth a lot of money at the time. He was raised Amish & left church at 15, made a ton of money without a high school education. With his original upbringing girls weren’t taught a lot & add in to the fact he had money she wasn’t taught basics that I teach my girls. I had been on my own since pretty young even running our families finances at around 14 after my parents split. At the time I was a production manager & bs gets people killed in the steel business so I was no bs. There is the conflict.

Now, she will tell you today she wasn’t taught much by her Dad. But then it was a frustrating couple of years. She’s highly educated at this point & runs a hospital so we’re not talking about the same girl at all or me for that matter. Age tends to calm most men down. It will be 16 years in Oct for us & we’re great but year 15 was the roughest on record. So you’ll have that in marriage I guess.

First major fight, hmmmmmm. Well, not my finest moment but I’ll bite. Probably not the first major fight but one I think we both recall vividly.

So we built our first house (kinda like Dave) with a ton of sweat equity. Move in and I’m
working long hours in steel shop during summer in Indiana with 100% humidity. I come home and wife has ac running and windows open. So I ask her what she’s doing & she tells me she wanted fresh air. To which my reply was well if you want fresh air go outside or keep windows open & turn off the ac. We’re not cooling the outside here.

Following day I come home, ac blasting away & windows open. I walk in and go to wall with thermostat. Took my hand and shoved it down wall into cheap plastic thermostat knocking it off the wall. She made her choice.......

This $7 thermostat I had to buy & replace turned into a huge blow up including her father who came over and we agreed if we never spoke again it was ok with both of us. I think that conversation ended by me telling him to get off my property.

For the record, probably not the best way to handle the situation by knocking thermostat off the wall. There's easier ways to make a point but this was a 24 year olds way I guess.

5547
Well, you know it is the tuck. Musta collected too many refrigerators on their front porch & it brought the whole building down when it collapsed......
