I wish I had gotten it in video. Once it started sliding it just wouldn’t stop. I cut it off and stayed with it until I was in 6 ft of water then I could only see the bubbles. Yeah. We’ll see what the insurance company says. It only has 25 hours on it so perhaps they’ll just buy me a new one.

Too many times, for sure Nate.

So I’m trying to get things wrapped up at the weekend place before we head out to Memphis to visit the in laws tomorrow.

Got up early to mow and trim. Got almost done and was mowing around the pond and ....you guessed it. Put the new zero turn in the water. Not just in the water but it was steep and the mower slid all the way to the bottom in the middle of the pond. As I swam away from it I was watching the bubbles move further out and settle right near the middle of the pond. At least I hit the switch and killed it before it went under.

I had to float an inflatable to the middle of the pond and then dive to find it. It was in about 10 ft of water. Got a rope on the front wheel on the first try and pulled it out with the tractor. It looked like a dredge. Got it hosed off and took it to the dealer.    Called the insurance company so we’ll see if they’ll cover acts of stupidity

At least my phone in my pocket didn’t get ruined.

:facepalm

Well. Plane delayed 5 hours last night. Then there were 2 freeway closures and a major accident on the way home. By the time I got home and got to bed it was 2 am.

Now it’s time to pick up the Dually from the shop where the stone shield on the rear fender was being replaced

Most Favored Companies / Best Insurance company?
« on: June 06, 2018, 10:39:18 PM »
Dirty secret is that if you are with a company for more than 3 years you are experiencing “rate creep” and you have to shop coverages. If you like your company then share the results of your rate shopping and see if they’ll reduce your rates to something close to the market. Many times they will but if not move your coverage.

Just make sure you read the deck sheets and that you are buying the same coverage.  Most people buy on price and only find a “gotcha” when it’s too late.

And check your state department of insurance web site for ratings and complaints.

What are you building? / Re: Dave’s house
« on: June 06, 2018, 10:31:24 PM »
My opinion worth every cent you are paying for.

One : unless it’s structural and you can prove it you aren’t likely to get any action

Two: Your foundation plans are usually stamped by an engineer because there is usually a 10 year warranty on foundations and if the workmanship is good and it fails it’s on warranty company/the engineer

Three:  I would either find the engineer on the foundation drawing or hire a reputable foundation engineer ( with a stamp) and have them come provide an expert written opinion. You will know what to do after that. Deal in facts not emotion, be cool and if it’s just cosmetic then suck it up and keep going with the comfort of knowing you had it inspected by a professional.  If it’s structural then you present the facts to the boss, who should be holding the subs accountable and make them make it right according to the remedy suggested by the engineer.  Failing that, it’s time to hire a lawyer. Getting stuck with 30 years of house notes on a failing foundation is worse than alienating your boss and having to find another job

Good luck

Wow. Today was musical chairs. See if you can keep up.

Wife unit sick with cold I gave her. Out of commission and non functional.

Drove the dually to the office and parked it in my parking spot. Ubered back home.  Took daughter #1 to school in new Denali. Drove Denali to work and parked in the spot next to mine which belongs to a coworker who’s on vacation until 6/6. Then drove Denali to stereo shop for a Viper alarm installation and had them add a secondary subwoofer to the factory Bose system.  Got picked up by a team member and taken to lunch with an employee and some team members for a birthday. Then they dropped me off over at the repair shop to pick up the wife’s GL320 - new door lock latch and actuator and reman transfer case (ouch). Then drove the GL home and grabbed the wife’s minivan to take it to the body shop to get the NASCAR racing stripe repaired on the passenger side where she was sideswiped (driver bailed to the exit and ran). Ubered back to the office. Picked up the dually and took it to be inspected and drove it to meet up with some friends at happy hour. Then back to the office and ubered over to the stereo shop to get the Denali and finally back home.

Now I actually have to get some work done.....

If you find an LB7 that’s in good shape but needs injectors, you can do a LLY head swap to get out from underneath the LB7 injector problem which would be the only concern. Pretty common mod now where new injector harness is swapped onto the LB7 FICM and then a custom EFI live tune.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The injectors on that truck have not been done. The truck is in good shape but they want $18k for it and other than power windows it’s a work truck package. Even with a head swap or sacs injectors I could still easily be $22-23k into a 16 year old, base model truck. That’s the way my brain is working anyway.
He did say Mega cab.... you guys talking Dodge, or Chevy.

Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
You sir are correct. I know they’ll use a lot of fuel but they can be bought in good shape for quite a bit less than a lot of trucks. There’s probably a reason for that though...

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hell I’ll sell you mine for $15k right now. Not much hasn’t been replaced on it. Depending on where you are I’ll deliver it if you fly me home.

JR it’s the Denali, with the ultimate package which basically means it has every option. The only option you can get on top of that is the rear DVD player.

It has the 420hp 6.2L and the 8spd auto. Even comes with a spray in bed liner

This is the pearlish white color with black leather.

One of the coolest features is the steps. They pivot out horizontally and not drop down like Amp steps. Then there is a button on the rear edge of the step that when you tap it with your foot it pivots back towards the rear wheel allowing you to step on it and access the bed.

It has the magnetic ride and it is amazing compared to any truck I’ve driven as far as ride is concerned.

Because I can use the Bus like a truck and not worry about nicks and I've replaced almost every single piece of mechanical on it.  Dually will be redundant as I don't really have anything to tow more than 10,000 pounds at the moment.

It also getting crowded at the house with a 2 car garage and 5 vehicles.....

Funny about the shorts. Just a coincidence.  Shawn my wife loves driving the dually on the highway. Hates maneuvering and parking it.

I’ll decide whether the dually goes on the chopping block once I hook a trailer to this thing and see how it tows.

The 8 speed transmission is interesting.  Lots of gears.

so, JR, your roxul wont be touching the radiant barrier?, have you thought about a ridge vent, where you cut away the plywood along each side of the ridge beam?  Then you just need soffit venting at the lower eaves to get the air moving up along the underside of the plywood and out the ridge?

Just a thought

As I watched the sunrise today in a still free country I was chatting with a friend who has been on assignment in Kazakhstan for 3 years. It makes me humble and proud to be amongst the 1% of the world blessed enough to be born here and live in relative freedom and security. All of this because of some really hard men and women who give up the niceties of life to secure our liberties.  People who go to hell hole places on earth and kill vermin who want nothing more than to wipe us off the face of the planet.

Some of those men and women never come back and those that do live with some really bad memories of twisted cultures and sick people and the deeds they’ve done to survive and preserve our way of life.

Today may every man woman and child take a moment to remember those who gave all so we could BBQ in peace today. A seemingly mundane event but built on a foundation of blood sweat and tears.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I did Dave. Thanks. I’ve been working these guys hard and they are all within a couple hundred dollars. Probably gonna use the guys that hassled me less. There is a dealer on the way from Houston to the weekend place that would be convenient and they also happen to be the place that has an RV dealer and they were super helpful when my fifth wheel had to go back to the factory for repairs even though I didn’t buy it from them.

Nate that’s awesome.  I’d love anyone of mine to want to play golf.

Still fighting a cold but mowed today and then worked in the garden trying to recapture the garden from weeds. Wife and kids have not been keeping up their end.

Then did bible study and took a short nap while a rain cam through.

Made this towel rack / shelf with the help of the little one
