Now that I have the culvert I need to build some end walls/catch basin.  So I got busy with the mixer and some wood

About a month ago we had some of the hardest rains I've had here and it washed out a great deal of my driveway and overwhelmed the small culverts under the drive. The water comes from the front of the property and feeds down and enters the pond but the drive cuts across the low area and acts like a barrier which the water has to run along and then go under the drive through he culvert to the pond.   So I ordered 36 tons of rip rap to line the side of the drive where the water runs.  I also got a new 18 inch culvert and got to work.

So trying to get caught up on this thread.   Didn't like the way the beams sat on the concrete.  Not as much bearing surface as I would like as I laid the supports out center to center and should have laid the corners out so that the distance was to the outside quadrant of the round column. So I went back and poured more concrete in a bigger diameter tube form. Used a bonding agent and extra Portland in the bag mix. So far so good.

Here the anchoring system. Since the beams are not treated but will contact cement I sat them on pieces of treated 2x4. Sheathing and siding will go all the way to the bottom of the beam so it will not be exposed. I also used super strength epoxy to set the allthread in the column

D.O.T. / OJ Stories
« on: July 20, 2017, 10:22:31 PM »
So I thought I'd share an OJ story.

Those who know me know I'm a plain spoken person and don't really pay attention to "feelings"

Several years ago, after OJ was aquitted on muder chargers and before he got nabbed on robbery and kidnapping,.....he was in houston boarding a SW airlines plan headed to San Antonio.  I was on the plan with one of my employees heading to a meeting with a prospect.

it was surreal.  Half the people were fawning over him and other other half was obviously upset and disgusted with him.  He was travelling with some bleach blond trailer trash white lady and she was obviously hammered (it was before noon)

I was seated 2 rows behind him and on the starboard side while he was on the port side.  People were making small talk.  One guy boarding the plane yelled out "OJ! what are you doing in Texas?"  OJ answered "man don't you know that all my exes live in Texas (seeking to emulate George Straight)"  I was unable to contain my disgust any longer so i spoke up in a very loud voice.  "did you dig up Nicole Brown Simpson and bring her with you?" You could have heard a pin drop

He looked right at me with that, "I'll cut your throat look".  My employee was freaked out because all he coulf think about was that he was going to miss his prospect meeting because his boss punched out OJ on the plane.......

Smart butt, I do in fact add feta cheese crumbs & some salsa to my egg whites. Then throw it on some tortillas & it makes a great breakfast!

Bingo! Got your number, bro!

Try goat cheese too.....(not saying I've done egg whites or any fancy cheese....jus sayin)

Try some Ezekiel bread. Also try flavoring your veggies with a small amount of meat. Helps satisfy the craving and gets you to eat more veggies.

I would build an air cannon like on "pumpkin chunkin" and shoot them with a frozen pig.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You could even make a better fitting load for the chunker, which should provide better distance and accuracy! Unlike a pumpkin that is close but not like molding your frozen pig parts!

Looking for muzzle velocity and sectional density. Plan to shoot them up close

When finished it will have dirt compacted all the way up to the top and then rip rap all around. No chance of debris making it hard to find. If I get it done right there should be little if any debris. I have created a graded area all along that side of the drive that is doing a good job directing water. I lined it with 3x5 riprap and it seems to be doing well. Once I'm done with the culvert and main drainage then I get to finish the other 600 ft of drive with roadbase to eliminate erosion.

Cruise, do you have a one or two piece driveshaft?

Today was a day of mostly rest. Parents came up and spent the night at the weekend place. Grilled fajitas last night and made big breakfast this morning.  Got up at 5 and drank coffee with my dad before everyone else got up. After they left I took a nap (????? Hadn't done that in a long long time). Went out and worked on the casita for a while in the sweltering heat and then with only a 15% chance of rain we got a toad choker for about 1 1/2 hours my new drainage was spot on. Unfortunately because a lot of the ground was freshly worked it eroded severely.  I had hoped to get end walls on the culvert and another 54 tons of road base brought in before the next big rain.....not so much.

Today spent 6 1/2 hours on the tractor replacing a culvert.  2 eight inch pipes are not enough for the water flow when a heavy downpour happens.  Got an 18 inch pipe but had to dig 10 inches of the road base off and then come in from the side and dig a trench 20 inches deep to get the required 12 inch minimum cover on top to meet H25 rating.  Almost rolled the tractor 3 times trying to compact the drive near the edges....  make you want to actually wear that seat belt......

Wow. Ask and he shall receive. Maybe you should just dump a TON of money in it, getting it about 90% completely restored and then let it sit in your garage indefinitely.

Jon those prices seem high. You should be able to find a turbo for about 1800-1900.  You can do a blocker plate for the EGR and IMO the pcv reroute is a waste.

Here is some of my handiwork with the roadbase.  Need to adjust the top link to get a less aggressive angle on the box blade and do some fine tuning and leveling.

Oh and today I had 72 tons of rock delivered.  36 rip rap and 36 crushed limestone roadbase.  I have to re-cut the drainage channel along side the driveway and line with rip rap to stop the erosion. I put down about 4 inches of the road base by the shop and will eventually do the entire drive.  Getting practice with the tractor trying to get a smooth surface.

Really want a hydraulic top link and hydraulic lift link.  I already have the two rear remotes, I just need the links and hoses.
