No fire right?
Would it be possible to heat the oil, when your ready to drop your turkey in turn the burner off than sink it in and then light it again?

Oh I washed my dirty max to a now clean max.   Note the new billet grill I paid $50 bucks for at the speakership

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No fire, I heat the oil to 400 then turn off burner & drop in turkey & relight. With that said first year I fried one I forgot to turn off the pane & still no fire issues. Oil drops a good 70 degrees once we put bird in so it then takes a bit to get oil temps back up to 350. My setup has a timed shut off every 15 mins or so which is kinda annoying as you have to relight each time. Thinking of building a new hose with valve minus the auto battery timed shut off.

Dave, I'd shut down with a turkey.
It's a lot of potential for what we saw there.
Doesn't take much moisture to make a mess.

I know there is potential for a big fire if it did ever light.
Yes you can get away sometimes, but that one time would suck a lot.

Happy thanksgiving my American friends!

From experience I think the biggest cause of issue is when people go to drop that bird in & the oil starts jumping they want to by instinct just drop it in the pot & get away. Which is opposite of what you should do being pull it back up. It takes me a good minute or so to get the bird fully in the pot & it should be dry and well thawed.

Make sure you wear some protection, I always have leather boots and gloves on. I still get some spatter but it’s no issue. Flips flops and shorts would be no good, sorry Ken.......

Don one thing about ham radio is that EVERYTHING is grounded.  Not a chance of sparks unless you don’t disconnect the antenna and you get a direct hit of lightning. Now this will make one helluva faraday cage as well. It will be 8ft ground rod connected on each corner of the container and the cargo doors will be welded to eliminate gaps. Door in the side will be steel. All my redundant stuff will be in there with no risk of emp.

Besides how much of a boom could 50-60 lbs of powder in a metal box really make........

I have a few. Icom 746pro for the main. I also have a 910h for vhf/uhf/satellite

I have an older icom for a back up rig and a yaesu hand held and yaesu 50watt mobile rig and an icom vhf only handheld.

I run the 910h at my primary home. I have a 6ft comet dual band antenna mounted in the top of a 75ft pine tree. I have communicated simplex with my bro in law over 35 miles away.

Those are some serious radios there TRN. I had a pair of Yeasu handhelds that were nice both on simplex and repeater. A good base and HH would be nice along with good ol CB but I am radioless now cept a few freetalks.

Nice grill Dave, always loved billet.

Heading out to do plug #8 and thermos now. Need to throw the blocker back on too.

Funny you mention reloading setups Tex. Just last night I was comparing the Dillon 550C and XL650. My single stage has been great but now that we have a little one I don’t have that much time to spend in the garage.

I’ve spend the last couple days making room for today’s meals. Happy Thanksgiving y’all.

I have the 650xl. Get it and never look back. I have the case feeder and the RT1200 trimmer die. Makes processing AR brass a breeze. I believe they now have a swager die for it too which makes processing once fired mil brass much easier.

We had a bunch of people over for thanksgiving. Then wife and I went black Friday shopping. Did pretty good avoiding the crowds. Got a bunch of stuff to put in my day pack. I want to start doing some more hiking when we are in Kentucky and Tennessee. I am probably over doing it but I suppose Id rather have stuff and not use it than need it and don't have it.

My 7 year old has been wanting a bb gun. Wife said no. We compromised and I got him a youth re-curve bow and a few blunt tip arrows. Archery is something Ive always been interested in but never pursued. If he shows interest I will get myself one and we can learn together.

Heading home from National Amateur Championship - great weather and time.  Dog showed his youth and I picked him up for chasing a bird AFTER his bracemate ripped the birds just as Hank pointed. Judges said he’s REALLY fast - he’s still there with trainer for the Open Championship starting tomorrow.

Damn Murphy snuck in my truck as I left today and I’m stuck in Springdale Arkansas waiting for DEF fluid heater to be replaced. Limp mode was 50 miles away!  Pulling trailer home in that condition is NOT an option so I gotta eat $715 and not even get lunch!

Attached is a photo atop the mountain I had Thanksgiving with dog friends at-

Yep, love my 06 with EFI and no DEF. Saw a double of it for sale at Lowes yesterday. Guy was looking at it and stopped me to ask about them. Had 220K mi and asking 20k. Truck looked good but I thought 20k was high for those miles.

Heck Nate, I did everything right (at least I think so) when I switched from the mini max to efi, and it still shows that it's locked to my vin. I've tried everything and still no Bueno. Last I checked, there's no longer any support for those things either.

I pulled my mobile storage unit out today.  One so I could Put the moto trailer behind a gate behind the 27 foot trailer.  Two so I could see how the duramax did pulling it. Three to see how much it weighted at my local cat scale

Truck did really pretty good considering I still haven’t added that transmission cooler ( it in transit) and I am still in major need of airbags for the rear of the truck to keep me level

Nothing like taking my six inch lift and making it stick lol

What a view Dave. If the wife would go with me I’d move to UT tomorrow.

This afternoon we looked at a 20 acre patch for sale a little further out of town. When we got there a guy and his family were stuck in the field next to the road. They’d come to look at the same property and bit off a little too much for a 2x4 pickup. The F150’s hitch took out a chunk of pavement and we lifted a rear wheel off the ground but we got him snatched out without much trouble. No winch so I’m glad I had a pull rope with me.

Then I worked up some .270 loads using 130gr Barnes TTSX with hopes of trying them out Wednesday. First time loading monolithics so I’m interested to see how they shoot.

On the Delete front- it’s on the horizon for sure, but I’ll need to do it in such a way that I can reverse it should the need arise. Gotta find a shop around here that has a positive reputation for such work and go in a direction that will have long term support.

When I deleted my 12  I did it in the garage.  It wasn't a terrible job to do.  I pulled everything when I did it.  Given your local it might make more sense for you to not go all in. That would for sure save some expense, time and difficulty.

That's one fine looking cooler.
I'll almost bet you broke the stock one pulling the fittings, unless the new one came with.
I was pulling mine to clean out well a few years back, and click, broke the solder on one of the bulbs.

Looks nice and solid on the bulkheads at the ends.

Waiting to hear how it performs.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Tomorrow will be a pretty light pull up the canyon about 180 miles round trip. I’ll report back.   The new cooler did come with all new hardware

With 2002 and newer it's all up to the ECM now, no dyno. My 87 needed a cap to but they had on the shelf but it needs the dyno.

They ran it on the dyno too........

Strange, here in Cali they don't do that. The pain is the dmax, they read the tune so I have to go back to stock for a test. Full flash, won't read with EFI.

Like to hear about it too. I flipped mine and debated the bigger one but I bought stuff for running duals that double the cooling area.

It was a two step process. First they pulled it in & checked it over not sure if they plugged into ecm or not or what exactly they were looking for? Possible they may have just been entering vin info. Then they pulled it up on dyno & chocked wheels. Hooked up sniffer to exhaust & ran ecm cord in thru passenger side window. Then ran it through the gears, first and second the Jeep was bouncing around a bit.

Dave, do the instructions have you mount it up in the air or down as stock?

I really got a taste of what its like to have a couple of employees. With my bosses stroke I had to hire a couple of guys to help out. Number 1 hit and bent the heck out of the stacks on 2 trucks. Got too close with the grain cart. Put his cigar out on our new tractor and melted a nice round spot in the plastic fender.  I don't even know where you have to be in your brain to even think about putting a cigar out on painted surface. Let alone on the side of a couple hundred thousand dollar tractor. That he knew darn will is plastic! A couple days after he went back to his regular job I found about a dozen half smoked cigars in the floor drain in the shop. Why? Just Why?  On the up side he was early every day. Stayed late and never complained. If we ever bring him back there will be a strict no smoking policy. We all quit smoking and none of us can stand to be around it anymore anyway.

Then my Peterbuilt broke down. We couldn't get it on the low boy. Had to borrow a gas powered air compressor to strap on the back. Connected it to the air system on the truck and towed it 40 miles to a shop. My arms were sore that night.

Then our service truck went down. You turn the key and everything works but the engine wont turn over. No click no nothing. Pulled the started and solenoid. They checked out good. Found the trigger wire is not getting juice. Now I have to find a short someplace or maybe the switch is bad. I don't know.

The Case pay loader broke down for the hundredth time. We just got in the pickup and went straight to John Deere in Sioux City and traded it off. We have had that thing for 10 years and it has been POS from day one. And that's not even half of whats going down around here. I will be glad when the weekend comes!

When I ordered it. I asked about flipping it he gave me two answers. One it’s not designed to push and pull fluid if it’s turned upside down the fluid will take path of least resistance and use less of the cooling stack surface area, second is the brackets don’t allow it.

If I had the aftermarket trans hoses I figure I could have more room to lift that cooler off the bottom but I only have the stock hard lines

He did say that I should see better cooking with it lower not flipping.  As I looked at it. The chev plastic bumper would completely cover my cooler.   I would need to move it maybe six or eight inches higher to get it up in the grill area not behind the bumper. I’ll take some forward shots when I get in the day light today to see if my logic is sound
