Adding images from mobile device
« on: September 02, 2017, 04:01:27 PM »
Since Photobucket doesn't work for image hosting anymore I'm trying to figure out other websites. I've successfully posted pictures to other forums by copying and pasting a link from an app (Imgur or Flickr) but that same process doesn't work here on RealMan. Any ideas?

It does work, you're just grabbing the wrong link... copy the link that says something like "bb code"

I think I got it figured out while replying. I saw that tapatalk has a button to insert an img bb code.

It may be a problem with the app. On both Imgur and Flickr I only have one option for a link to copy. The apps look like this:

Ahh yes... if you want to post photos from your phone, I would recommend Tapatalk. From a computer, I use Imgur and then copy the BBCode hyperlink

I now know there's two ways to upload through tapatalk. The first is by selecting the mountainous icon between the camera and the attachment icon. That allows you to upload directly from your phone and if I understand correctly also cost Chief money.

The second is by selecting this icon: [/]
Then selecting:
That should host the image on Imgur or Flickr and I don't think tapatalk charges for that. If someone has info to the contrary feel free to correct.

Tapatalk won't charge to host... no sweat man. The only way we get charged is if you upload photos or videos directly to the site as attachments. Image hosting on Tapatalk is free.99

Edit: even loading images via attachments (a la Big D) is very minor cost, like fractions of a cent probably per photo... the huge resolution images and especially videos uploaded directly via the forum attachments are really all you should feel the need to be careful with. It's not a cost per photo type thing, it's cost per gigabyte of server capacity.

My personal recommendations... if posting from a cellphone or iPad, use Tapatalk, if posting from a computer use Imgur to host images, and if posting videos host on YouTube.

I figure that if I can just save you one nickel, maybe that'll be the nickel that gets Square D moving under its own power again.

I am going to get that heap moving.

Had that diesel shop not crapped on their word to come get it weeks ago, it would now be running, I think.

My wife just tonight asked me, when am I going to get that thing running.

Any of you put her up to that, Tex?

You know it's bad when momma gets involved Don.  You better put some lawn clippings on top of it and maybe some of that military camo netting stuff

Load it on a trailer (thinking u-ship) & send it to Norm. Norm gets a present, we all get loads of entertainment (win). Norm comes back in the fold (win), you end up with a running truck (win) and some additional paperwork (win) & Norm sends you an invoice (he wins). DOT of course wins because we have new territory to cover (super duper win). He loads back on a truck and it's done. (Don winning) & that's like what a 150% improvement if you only count the DOT wins in that equation! Plus HH6 wins because she doesn't have to keep reminding you of that non running money pit in the shop.....

Oh oh oh we could have Don trailer it there, we could use previous thread knowledge, like how to prep for a road trip, Don could build a car hauler trailer, how to strap down a vehicle, JR could help plan the route to provide us with historical stopping points for Don to document and enlighten us of history mixed with truth.  This could be great
