Oh, yea, I see no problem with this.

Let me see if I got this straight. We take a guy who believes that cutting him/her/itself up is OK. At some point it sees the error of it's ways and seeks the cure which some doctor after considerable work gets the patient to a manageable point. Of course the temptation is gone forever. Just like an alcoholic who quits never has a relapse and no longer craves alcohol again...like that.

We take this person who is having to work at not cutting itself up and we introduce it to an environment of sleep deprived, wet/cold fear for its life and train it to use knives and bayonets as fighting weapons.
I can't imagine anything would ever go wrong with that, would you?
