Nate, I was being a smart butt. I saw the air lifts, for me getting a freshly painted / assembled 1 ton axle up in there looks to be a chore. I can think of a few other jobs and too much junk in the way for my liking. Yours is probably a safer unit but as you stated it’s just me who has lifted, rigged and moved many items over the years much heavier than a 1 ton crew cab. Knock on wood the 2 post doesn’t scare me as I’ve used them before.

That will be a nice addition for sure!

3 people within a few blocks of me have those. When the TH goes I am really thinking of one.

Wait, I think Nate just burned me pretty good.

HAHAHAHA........are you guilty of the above statement in some way?

Honestly the comment was directed more at jacka$s rice burner operators that are not even smart enough to know where to place the lift arms as well as know how to lower it onto the stop locks....(so in case of a power outage/loss of ait, the lift dosent come smashing down.

Something like these.....lol

Oh, hahaha.
.. well you did post that right after Shawn said he talked to me!
And, my buddy bought a new  $25k lift a few years ago, for exhaust work (besides oil changes, it's the only thing they're good for :) ) , on motorhomes. One safety lock failed, broke a cable and dumped it over on it's side, into another vehicle. Was a bad, expensive day.

I watch fail videos all the time. Not just those but all kinds, great watching Darwin at work.

I see in some shops they use the drive on, then lift off that. Whats the use, you have to work around it all time, but you have a table!

Not that this matters at this point because you’ve already got it all figured, but, back in 2005 I helped a friend open his own shop after working for the man for 20 years. We installed two of the ramp style lifts in said shop, on TERRIBLE concrete that we ended up drilling completely through when putting the post lags in the ground, both lifts are still there with no issues. He is like you in that he works alone, even though he could use and permanent oil changer and tire mounter, while he does everything else.

Well in that department..... had a high school kid drive his dads truck off the front of the ramp into his toolbox once, but didn’t damage the lift, forced upgrade to
A larger box though.

Then on the 2post vs 4 post, I’m tall and lanky and getting into tights spots on the 4post lifts will make you angry, because the blasted thing is just enough in the way to stop you from getting the last bolt out.

EDIT:  Thanks Shawn for such a quality product!!!

I did!!!! On thursday actually, but I just got back to the house to get them opened today. As far as truck parts go, theyre basically art work! Once I gather the rest of the parts, I'll revive my thread from the depths and post up the install. Sorry to clutter up your shop build, but wife and I wish you the best getting back into GLO.

Ok, 2 post lift in my shop as of 6am this morning. I’m a little irritated at Summit Racing at the moment. With everything going on in past 2 weeks this being delivered turned into a huge monkey on my back. From the get go Summit knew I wanted this delivered to my shop not my billing address (which in this case was my house).

This BendPak lift shipped from manufacturer with no notice of when it was to be delivered (I blame summit for poor communication). Summit set it up per YRC to be delivered to my home. Of course it arrived when I was out of state dealing with mom’s and pops. Get back this week and spent several days talking to yrc freight (great to deal with btw), BendPak (also great to deal with so far) & summit racing (a** clowns). Long story short summit tried to charge me an extra $272.00 to deliver unit to my shop less than 5 miles from home and 4 miles closer to interstate. YRC freight laughed when I asked if that was an additional charge from them, it was not and they don’t operate that way.

I will not be dealing with summit going forward. Both BendPak and YRC were more than willing to help however they could. Summit, wanted to extort money from me after I spent several K with them.

So I got up at 4 today to beat traffic and traveled 45 mins to east side of Denver. Hauled this lift on my 8 foot 3500lb trailer all 13 foot of it. Used engine hoist to get it unhooked from 4Runner as trailer jack is inoperable with lift up against it.

Well, I did ALOT of thinking about how to block this to haul it. For the record it hit 70 on that trailer.

The rear of the trailer was my biggest concern, I was actually more concerned with bending the back 2x3 tube cross member under the rear. So I ran a 4x4 across from side to side at the rear to help that 2x3 with some extra support. The front is fine with the tube side rail & a frame for the hitch (lots of support there). So by running that 4x4 across to the outside which is strengthened with the tube side rails (think box truss design) I spread the load. I figured worse case that back 2x3 cross member would bend and I’d have to cut it out and patch in new.

I’ve had 3200 lb of steel on 2 wooden skids on that trailer with no issue btw.

It’s ok, I give free publicity & they sent me a email asking about my purchase. Once I have it up and it works properly I’ll be sure to let them know what I think...

It gets better, summit just called to say they’d wave those fees

Thanks Summit Racing, appreciate it now that I spent hours of my life trying to work this out with you and already have it taken care of. The other part I didn’t mention was yrc was going to start charging me for it sitting on their dock. Normally freight companies limit you to 3 days. Yrc understood my situation and bent over backwards for me at 1.5 weeks holding it.

Sorry Shawn. I’ve gotten to where I just request terminal pick up and have them fork in to the truck or trailer.

I normally do too but the length concerned me (with my tiny equipment) and I have a neighbor with a forklift I can rent for a case of beer. So delivering it (free shipping btw was advertised) to my shop seemed too easy.

You'd laugh at the way I put up the first one, before getting a forklift.  All I had was the little NH tractor...wait..I should say,  I was lucky to have a tractor.  I got the hoist up as high as it would go,  which was about a foot too short...so I did what any guy would do, drive the tractor up on railroad ties, with 4x4s stacked on top of them. Not too sketchy.  Lol

Then ended here after removing two 50 gallon drums worth of cardboard and packaging. Also texted Ken trying to get him to wager whether I can stand these two uprights vertical with nothing but my manly physique. I even offered him a video of me doing so from my best side and really surprising me he still declined. He did request if this goes sideways for video of said catastrophe... here I was hoping for a bottle of some Arizona made whiskey and no such luck.

And I found plenty of Don’s Christmas present as packaging which I boxed up figured he could use some dry wood more than I can....

If you stand up from the trailer with a fulcrum (blocks of wood) under its midpoint, that’s cheating. Like some dude rockin back and forth with too much weight on the curl bar at the gym...

Lay them flat on the concrete first and then let’s see that manhood.....

And you know I’m capable of shipping whiskey...

Like Ken stated yesterday “I’m not that dumb!”

70% of the weight is in bottom 4 foot, blocks are 32 inches from ground.

Back in my 20’s I would load Dana 60’s & 70’s from flat off the ground into my F250 pretty often. However, I’m not 20 & these are quite a bit heavier than the 70’s....

& I know you ship whiskey!

Got his feelings hurt over something

Was whinning on the threads last night about it

No one payed attention

So he's off sulking somewhere

Don’t worry, didn’t have time to screw with it. I just tossed em up off the trailer...

Easy peasy, nothing to it.

Find the safety books, 5 of them and they double shipped each one. Maybe they’re trying to tell me something?

Then, apparently I opened up the wrong side of the bolt box because the install instructions were buried at the bottom.  So a little studying tonight, I have a medium size corded hammer drill. Not sure if I have large enough bit and may just rent from hd & large drill instead. We’ll see, I then ran to HD and picked up 100 ft of 1 in EMT & 20 ft of 2 in. Will come out of main box with 2 in to a junction box then run 1 in 3 or 4 separate runs around shop.

I need a 3/4 in bit & found I have a brand new bit so gtg there.

Pulled panel cover off and started running 2 in but alas no large sheet metal screw to tie hangers to wall.....

& yes for the record working on electrical with an aluminum later is not osha approved. Also for the record my shop is too dangerous for osha so I do not allow them in my shop! :beercheers:
