Hide Site / Elbow Room
« on: February 08, 2022, 01:19:00 PM »
We have been on the land we have now for right at 20 years.  We have 7 acres at the current home.  Lots of memories and improvements.  With lots of recent nearby growth we decided to start looking for some land a little more remote than we are with some elbow room.  It has been a tough hunt spanning about 7 or 8 years.  We found a couple that we thought were it and the Lord closed those doors.  The one we finally closed on yesterday has been out there for about 5 months.

The gentleman has owned it since 1987 and worked on it for about 15 years before that.

It is 84.5 acres.  It is fenced on the perimeter.  It has a pole barn about 24x40 enclosed on 3 sides.  It has a well and water distribution at 4 locations for livestock.  It has a spring feed pond.  We have ordered a metal building, 30x50 with a 12x50 overhang on the back.

It is a place that we will build on and then sell our current home.  We will get the required interior fencing up and move the animals first.  Then probably live in the storage building until the house is finished.

This is standing on the site of the future house.  Real close to the middle.

Ammo & Reloading / New Reloader
« on: August 09, 2016, 02:10:31 PM »
I am collecting some new equipment to get started reloading for the AR.  Eventually probably will expand to .308.

I had some borrowed equipment to let me test the waters and decided that after I got some reloaded I liked doing it and would invest some in my own equipment.  The borrowed stuff was Lee hand presses and Lee pace setter dies.  There was also some small stuff but I replaced most of that with my own equipment fast.  I already had a set of calipers.  I have spent time in the reloading manual as well.

My first purchases were a Lee universal decapping die and a Lee Ram prime.  I also got a couple tools to process brass, neck chamfer and pocket cleaner, along with a couple trays and a funnel.

A lot of Lee stuff I know.  But I am on a budget and have used the equipment before and have been happy with it.

The press that I decided to buy is the Lee breech lock Challenger.  I decided to go with the single stage press so that I can concentrate on doing one step at a time.

I also purchased the Lee quick trim and quick trim die and a set of pace setter .223 dies.

I haven't gotten a scale yet or a way to clean the brass.  I am leaning towards a wet tumbler from harbor freight but open to suggestions.

So far, on the hand press I have loaded about 95 rounds and made a couple mistakes.  The AR likes them.

Any recommendations would be appreciated as I know there are a few on here that have this hobby/affliction as well.

Ammo & Reloading / Ammo supplier report
« on: December 14, 2015, 06:35:13 PM »
I just made a purchase from the website below and wanted to make a report on the transaction.  I ordered 500 rounds of wolf 5.56 for training and only received 480.  The shipment was on time arrival as far as when it was promised.

When I unpacked tonight and counted, I called them about the missing ammo.  They told me they didn't have anymore and immediately offered me a credit for the missing ammo.  It hit my in box before we hung up the phone.  This was handled by the LIVE Person that originally answered the phone.

Just passing along a pleasant customer service experience.

Faith Discussion / What are you thankful for
« on: November 25, 2015, 07:18:49 AM »
I am thankful for God paying the price for my sins by sending Jesus to Earth and the ultimately to the Cross as a sacrifice.

I am thankful for my family and God being in their lives as well as their health.

I am thankful for my job, a way to support them.

I am thankful for a group like this where I can say these things and the veterans who have and continue to make it possible.

I am thankful for the opportunity to sit out in the cold hunting this morning enjoying God's creation with my son.

This is some of the PC indoctrination that happens at these schools staffed by liberal academia.  No wonder why regular people are so frustrated.
