I might, but I wouldn't know where to start.

The way I see it I have one of two choices

1. Toss a Willie-Pete grenade in it and start over

2. Leave it in the current as-is mess, and roll with it.

The only way to fix all the messed up threads would be to start by firing YOURSELF!!! :)

Haha.....the barbershop I go to redid their place in a garage theme....mechanic tool chests for all the stuff...checkerboard flooring etc. It came out pretty cool. They have air hoses with a compressor. They use it to blow the hair off you when they're done with the haircut. But they said their lawyer and insurance guy made them turn down the pressure to 15 lbs or something.

Probably just as well....

Ha! That's great. I would love a place like that. I had a barber I went to religiously. He quick tho to work in a machine shop. His cousin took over and he's absolutely terrible. There are the fancy barbers around, but they want like 25 bucks for a cut. Rediculous. My barber was $11, cash only. 15-16 with tip.

Does anybody have any experience with gas lines? I'm trying to figure out if i have enough to run a 50k BTU gas furnace in the shop, given i only have 1/2" line stubbed at the house. Trying to read online and it's confusing the crap out of me.

Nat gas. It'd be 100 feet of 1/2" pipe I believe, with bends, and a 53' section of corrugated stainless underground.

Me thinks it won't be enough flow

My guess it will be, depends on what other appliances you are using at same time. I'm more familiar with pane & a 1/2" Id hose with the correct regulators will flow a lot of capacity.

We had an 8 headed track torch where we used nat gas as the pre heat / pre pierce warm up stage. Think 3x normal size torch heads blowing nat gas out of them full bore in our shop to cut 2" plate & a 1/2" line supplied those. If I recall correctly they had to come in and change valves or regulators etc but the line size was not the issue.

They probably increased the pressure. I was reading that you can get 6psi in commercial/high density applications from my gas provider. That's 24x the pressure of residential.

Well shhhheeeeeeeeet. Now I have a 1/2 stub that's absolutely worthless. I'll have to tap off the meter, which is another 25' away

Honestly, it sounds like you know more than I in regards to nat gas. In my house we have a 3/4" feed & max it is only 3k sq ft with a single forced air furnace, water heater & gas stove.

Yeah i'm at 1" feeder, and it should have been 1 1/4" if they gave me more than that weiner little stub in the back. Should have been 3/4", with a 1 1/4" feeder to the house. Woulda been mo better, but my bad for not paying mo money and assuming the boneheads would assume i wanted to run more than a dang BBQ for a stub labeled "TO THE SHOP"

But I will see if there's any recourse there absolutely

"IF" it was just a 50K heater I would say you are fine. NG flows at around .75 psi and I had a 3/4 line for my entire house (all gas).

I just got a 400K pool heater that needs 3/4 for under a 50ft run. PGE put a huge meter in for free leaving the 3/4 feed for the house but T'd it with a 1.25 line for the heater and a on demand water I am planning and will go to an electric dryer with my solar system.

Remember pipe is OD for size and tube is ID for size, so that 3/4 is really just over 1/2.

My lines are that 1/2" flex from meter to the furnace @2 psi. There is a regulator there to bump it down to 1/2psi (I think). Furnace, hot water, range, fireplace, BBQ, and now my garage heater all run off that. That said, I don't have them all running at the same time. I bet if you ran 2psi through the line and bumped it down once you get to the shop you'd be fine.

Here's my setup.

Yeah, with pressure I'm sure 1/2 would be fine. I think I'm going to have to come off the meter instead of using the 1/4 psi 1/2" stub

1/2" pipe will have an OD of .84".  Depending on wall thickness the ID can change.  Standard or schedule 40 will be about .6" ID.  Heavy wall or schedule 80 will be .55" ID.

1/2" tubing will have a OD of 1/2".  The ID will also change depending on wall thickness.

Got my air hose reel up over my future workbench. Got this baby on the northern tool savings event, 25 bucks. I wanted 1/4 line, since it'll predominantly be used for brad nailers and such. No use in having 3/8 for that... that's a separate reel, stay tuned (backordered)

26', oddly

I will have a 100' 3/8 line on a reel at the front of the shop.

The overhead reel will almost exclusively be for Brad, pin, finish nailers, staplers, and my spray gun for cleaning things

Have you had any issues with this hose reel leaking air?  That's what always worries me about getting one of the cheap ones, that it might continually leak a little and run my compressor more than normal.

I used a 25 HF with no issues, but not pressurized all the time either.

I now have a 50HF and a 50 from TSC. The TSC was just $40 and only 1/4. Holds air fine even left pressurized.

The other reel came in from back order, got it up today.

Good Lord it's a good thing I didn't choose plumbing as a profession. Using pipe dope, and checking for leaks with soapy water I still have a tiny leak at one threaded joint. I've redone the dang fittings once, gonna stay this way.

Spent the better part of today working on an addition to our retaining wall. This is going to be the area of our dog kennel, which will have a dog door to the garage, where there will be a small fenced area inside as well.

Took my time and carefully thought everything out, since the new wall is going to tie into the existing. So working backwards to establish depth for the 6+ inches of gravel base

The whole property is getting fenced first week in May, with a steel gate across the shop driveway, so this project is a prerequisite so they can install the fence just inside the new blocks.

Would have made much more progress, but need to go get blocks!

Got a lot more done today. I'm going to be very sore tomorrow. Laid almost 3 tons of block. Going back for the second load in the morning

And because I'm a lawn snob...

In regard to the lawn snob... I hate you

My lawn looks like crap. Neighbor is ripping all his out and starting over because of the moss... If I hadn't just bought a new bed I may have done the same thing.

Wall looks good man. Reminds me of the wall I did at my parents house, you've got bigger blocks though.

Mossout, power rake, overseed, fertilize, green. You can dooo it!

Thanks! Yeah the square blocks are darn near 80lbs a pop
