Another year older and it’s MOVING DAY!  Samm - hoping it all goes/went smoothly and may you mend and recover quickly.

So here are my nuggets of info gleaned from this home experience:

When you purchase a home and you’re over 50 - hire professionals.  Movers, Cleaning Crew and a calm, Conservative Attorney!  All of them make what can become a nightmare bearable!

Pray and trust God and act with faith that things will fall into place!

Gotta get moving and go clean up the new garage which is going to be swamped as it’s the only storage until I build a shed!  I’m gonna miss this hotel with its hot tub later tonight!

Afternoon gents.
Surgery went fine. All fixed up.
The cocktail the drug dealer gave me KO’d me before I knew what was happening. Lol.
Woke up and well dealing with irritated throat and a bad case of hangry.
By the time I hit the OR I’m usually a lot of cofffee and two meals in to my day.

Then had to splain the severity of my ‘white coat’ syndrome.
After surgery when I was 110/80 to 130/88 I think they believed me.

Was small apparently so no mesh, and I’m outta commission for a few more weeks.
What a way to ruin a whole summer.
Oh well.

Thanks for the prayers, and now for some recovery.

And another coffee and some more ice cream.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.
Sam

I attended a Hemp farming forum this afternoon. It was very informative. My guess is it will be 10 years or so before I give it a try. There is no place to process it yet. Processing plants are currently in the works.

Hemp for CBD oil will never be grown in the Midwest. Unless it's done indoors. It's a lot of work and they say the market will be saturated in 2 to 3 years. So while there is a small fortune to be made now it's going to end pretty quick.

When and if I ever try it I would grow it for the fiber and possibly the seed. I can plant it with the drill I already have. Then just windrow it and bale it.

There is another way to cash in on the Hemp and legal Mary Jane. Worm castings. It turns out that pot and CBD grow very cell in worm castings.

Samm, glad to hear everything went well. May God grant you a quick and stress reduced recovery! Also, id have guessed you summer is near over by now, or do you have another two weeks before the two days of fall before winter sets in?

We installed some actual fence parts today.

Also prepared forms for one side of the yard mow strip before we put fence in

Looks good Dave, is this inside your yard or outside looking at it? Kinda confusing with the concrete blocks.

Have gone entirely through the nail. I too am curious how you managed that. I only have a single stage press so I’d like to think I couldn’t manage to have that happen.

A mow strip is concrete against the vinyl fence so the grass doesn’t grow around the fence, leaving you the area to trim/edge with a string trimmer.

Makes for running a lawn mower around much nicer also.

Makes for clean lines also.

The posts also get lengths of rebar ran through the posts and down the middle of the cement.

I was using my Forster co-ax single stage press.  Was catching the primer coming out of the sizing priming die and the pin that opens the shell holder on return was what hit the nail between the platform and the pin.  Not fun

that's what I thought it was.  it is great to see the other people think of such things that make sense for longevity.

are you worried about the mow strip holding water in the yard, or do you have some sort of drainage built into them?

It’s only 4 inchs or so deep.   I have much bigger water retention issues lol.

The RV pad in the photo will have a 5 x 5 curb to hold in the road base and hose metal posts for a 4ft chain link fence to keep dogs off the pad
That I assume will be a much larger water issue.

Not sure how we will solve it yet.

So Baylee brings this kid over named Charles from around Houston somewhere? Yeah seemed a bit ironic to me too at first.....

Kid can eat (apparently home cooked meals aren’t on the menu at the air force academy? Who knew?) So he’s respectful and seems to have his head on straight. I was beginning to wonder if those types still existed in this generation. Son of a surveyor and spoke of how he helped his dad as a kid and those were long days driving stakes in the Texas heat. That sounds like a work ethic I can get behind.

Oh and to all those dads with daughters not dating yet, I feel for ya.

Looks good Dave.

Shawn, don't get your blood pressure tested when or if they decide to shack up. I guess that's considered normal nowadays. Urrrr

Started on my wife's FJ today. Repainting the front end. The clear is not doing well, being out in the sun.
Did brakes, plugs, and all the fluids also.

Baylee isn’t 18 and she hasn’t went to college yet. She best not be shacking up with anyone for some time. And I’m not the one to be worried about it’s her 5’ tall momma!

Always appreciated Charles!

This forum has so many up sides.

Fairly slow day at work here except for a 2 hour span where we had a “cutting” and an unresponsive diabetic with a blood sugar of 28. Some guy decided it was a good idea to hit his girl in the head with what we assume was a glass bottle. Jagged 4” laceration to the head and she had pieces of glass on her. Police officers were doing their best to control the bleeding with pressure until we got there. When they found out the suspect was still in the area they took off after him but left someone with us to watch our 6 so we could treat the patient. We give them a fair amount of grief at every opportunity but its nice to work with such good officers.

7 cars for 4 girls.

Woke up this morning kicking myself for not asking that kid from Houston if his favorite color was Red!

Shawn: AF academy is upper crust for long careers there. Will likely become a pilot, most of them do.

As for him shackin' up with anything...not in the cards. The academies occupy all your time. He will have to stay in teh "Barracks" until he graduates, then it's off to more flight training/advanced aircraft qual. Always moving or in temp quarters for quite some time before he is finally assigned to some squadron somewhere.

He is going for aeronautical engineering and then his goal is some other master degree and testing new aircraft.

As for the other my daughter informed me he is waiting for marriage b4 he shacks up with anyone. In her defense she doesn’t stick with most boys over a date or two because once they start pressuring her they’re toast. As Don mentioned he’s pretty busy and can only see her on weekends. At the moment has no car because it’s not allowed first two years at the academy. So unless he borrows one like yesterday she controls that as well. She admits there is no need for a boy pestering her all the time.

Spent the last few days prepping an area for a boat cover. No back hoe or mini to use so it was a grape hoe, shovel, and wheelbarrow show. Running out of room, hope I can get my Elcamino out of the garage once the cover is in place. Might need a set of tire dollies so I can use the other door.

Did some brakes on the wife’s 2010 traverse

Needs tires sooner than later

Pads still had life left but the rotors are really warped.

Just back from the test drive for a re torque and for some reason the steering wheel shimmy’s while driving at higher speeds.   It did before the brakes

I run a window AC. Even with the door open it does pretty well. If you have a little breeze, just open another door.
