The gate thing is true right up to the grass catcher. I had to redo the gate from 36 inches to 48 inches. Of course as I was digging the new gate post hole the main line for the sprinkler system got into the way. Got that fixed then had to replace the 4x4's used for edging and also put one under the new gate to keep the puppy in the yard. The formed corners of the gate were not quite right after I screwed the thing together but will have to do for now.
And right there you've proven one of my axioms of work! Perhaps I will republish the list, but that's rule number three.

In the beginning there was nothing. Then God decided to change that and he began a work that has never ceased to this very day. Along with the physics of nature, in tune with the harmony of everything we can make some scientific observations of the nature of startin' somethin'

And due in part to the wisdom that comes with age, in the words of Farmers Insurance, "I have seen a few things, so I know a few things."

The Axioms of work:

1. Before starting to work, one must first work
example: Before cutting the lawn one must air up the lawn mower tire, pick up debris in the lawn, grease a spindle, or brush off cat hair from the seat.

2. Work begat work (Work creates work)
Think Newton's third law of relative motion...
example: Bobs gate redo required movement of the sprinkler line, adjustment of the plant bed and movement of timbers

3. Work never ceases, not even by death.
example: You paint the house. In time it needs touching up, then larger repairs, then finally a massive scraping off redo which is many times the work of the initial job. One dies during the latter process and the next unfortunate home owner needs to complete the job and therefore restarts the entire process.

4. There was always work and forever will be
Example: Genesis until today

5. Work will force one to work, and even create more work if one does not heed the call.
No matter whether or not you wish to clean out the drain, it will remain in a state of needing work. If you do nothing, then it will cause the septic to clog and back up flooding your bathroom with petrid waste. Should you not heed the need to work at that point, next it will infect you with a fatal disease from the sewer mess and kill you.

Well got home 3 am. Should have just stayed awake. Now off to work.

Don, as a former commercial pilot have you ever heard of airlines cancelling a flight, blaming it on weather but really because it was not fulll enough to make money?

My flight from SLC to PHX was cancelled 6 hours in advance due to weather but there was almost nothing yesterday in PHX

Glad you got home safe, sorry it took so much longer because of greedy airlines. I am betting it will be a long day at work.

I have heard of that and also on maintenance.

And when fuel prices are high, the plane needs to be fairly densely packed to make $$$$

It will really come down to Crew time AND if the plane is needed in the destination for a continuing leg.  If the Crew/plane is RON and there is a different plane that can take the route then yes they can cancel the flight and call it whatever they like and since they gave you a 6hr notice all they have to do is schedule you for a different flight.

And example if that plane was going to fly full from PHX to ???? and no other planes were available then they would of flown it empty to PHX if that was the case, I guess it was a RON so they cut their loses and canceled.

Ordered the firebrick, next to cost of sakrete it’s the largest single expense on this project.

did you lathe under the stucco or was that not necessary because it was over brick?

Lathe is for wood, non porous materials etc. Block is porous and stucco will bond no issues. Only thing is you need to keep wetting it in heat to slow it from drying out as it cures. That can lead to issues if not done properly.

Ken, I keep them fed well.....

I heard it was amazing. THe fact that that man can pack an arena that size with a couple thousand still outside is amazing. Not sure the crowd would be any bigger if it had been a world series game. Trump is amazing, and with the utterly ridiculous message from the left, I can't see anyone defeating him.

Preparation to leave for Shawano, WI tomorrow for a drift event in the memory of my son Jake at USAIR Motorsports Raceway.  The guys decided to pick a different organization to raise $ and awareness for each year; this year it’s linked to one along the lines of Operation 22 A Day.  Very worthy cause.  This will most likely be the last time I attend this event as its seems to become about my EX maintaining relevance somehow along with a few other sore spots I’ll never get to resolve anyhow.  Miss him daily -

Might get some goodies at Maplewood Meats outside of Greenbay

Charles, lets just say that men of honor have a difficult time with those who lack it!  Incredulous demands and unrealistic expectations have made this something of a reality tv show that nobody else gets to watch.  I thank God that my buddy who’s my mortgage broker has surrounded me with quality people AND given me a worst case scenario option that keeps my daughter in the school we’ve registered her in regardless of what these shister buyers do.  Some things have bordered on extortion.  Once we close on both houses on Aug. 15 I’ll pen a CIEMR post detailing the saga, post family party home inspection event I’ve previously spoken of.

I still need prayers for all wrinkles to become ironed out and that we make it to closing on the sale of this place.  Also request prayers on behalf of the people WE are buying from - nice and honorable people who I don’t want to get hosed-up by the actions of OUR buyers.

Won’t mention ethnicity, but suffice to say that a couple of the people involved with trying to pull ‘this deal off have stated that they REFUSE to work with/for the ethnicity due to this type of crap.

And what you have identified with that statement, Charles, is a fact of nature

And the problem is that some things about we humans are just plain ugly, this example being a pungent case in point.

So we want to avoid it, set it aside. That is the cowards way. It takes courage to state the truth and stand by it. Kinda like standing by your faith in Jesus. That takes courage and is often unpopular, but in the end is completely right and correct. Now, I will allow, there is a thing called tact and a place to use it, but to run away from a very obvious cultural problem is cowardice plain and simple.

Makes me think of the scene in the movie "Airplane" where terrorists with RPG's are being allowed to board the aircraft while a helpless 80 year old woman is being searched by security people.

I say call it what it is. Whatever the facts point to is something called the truth. If you find yourself in the crosshairs of the proof and it aint good, then own it or change!

Hope the boys had a great birthday.

I’m piddling in the seacan and organizing gun cleaning supplies and putting a new paracord handle on the little gerber I bought.

Great use for my grandfathers old craftsman tool box

Box holds all my gunsmithing tools and cleaning jags, etc

One day I want to do a complete restoration with fresh powder coat.
This is what the little gerber looked like before

This is after. Duplicated the original and then did a basic cobra overweave

When it rains it pours. We have 2 trucks in 2 different shops. My brothers truck went into derate because of problems with the DEF system.  Its in getting deleted its going to be down for a while. So he grabbed the one that our hired man uses. Mine went down yesterday. I stopped for lunch I set the brakes and went to get out but the ground was moving. I don't have any park brakes. Further investigation both brake cans on the front drive axle broke off. They are just hanging there. We are driving the roughest roads I have ever seen. I surprised more hasn't broken. These trucks get some pretty hard use. We have one more truck I could use but we dropped the commercial license and insurance on it because it didn't get used much. I cant use it "for hire" anymore. Farm use only.

We have been talking about about cleaning out the machine shed. I think I will do that today. Id say there is a close to a million bucks worth of equipment sitting outside. Because the shed is full of old wagons and a planter and stuff we don't use anymore. Time to clean it out and call the auction company.

So. I found this yankee hanging out in Texas and had pity on him. So I took him to a true texas place to eat. Ninfa’s original Mexican restaurant

Well in order for you to find me I'd've (yea that's a double contraction, they exist lol) had to have been lost, and I don't get lost! However that was good food. I'm hoping to get back down to Houston for more training sometime in the future.

Good looking crew!

Is the Staff Sergeant standing about 3/4" taller than the Texan?

Love to see this, hope you two had a great time!

When you leave things parked in tight like that in a barn for presumably a long time like over winter, do you do anything to try to keep mice from building nests or eating through wires, destroying seats, etc?  I am finding them starting to live in my equipment that doesn't move often.

I am thinking a few good outdoor cats would keep the mouse damage down.

Yea I'm taller. Even in my dive shoes/boots that I've been wearing around which are flat soled.

Can’t help but crack
Up at his wife shooting him and him crawling into the kitchen to avoid bleeding on the new carpet
