I gotta agree with Shawn on all/most of his comments. The concrete is really all that you likely need to contract out. It's an art that some can do the things you want that we grunts and knuckleheads stare in awe at. The rest, really shouldn't be that much of a stretch for you, especially if you recruit some help.
Here's the problem I see... It's from a customer service sign I seen at one point. We can do it good fast and cheap. But you can only pick two. If you want it good and fast, won't be cheap. Fast and cheap, won't be good. Good and cheap won't be fast.
Unfortunately this little 'joke' of a sign is so true. So you'll have to have it all figured out.
And starting this conversation should bring up a lot of good discussion.

Yup, that will not be any kind of fun. Well on my way home the truck hit this milestone. Which equates to this in miles. Not sure why, but always like capturing the big milestones for some reason. I think HH6 is surprised I've kept the truck this long. While I was out had the front end fixed up. 2 uppers and one lower bad, I had to do the outer tie rod ends before I left, don't think they would have made the trip. This is the second time that I've had to do front end work, so I'm quite happy with how it's holding up. Tonight, mixed up a batch of home made root beer. Will know in 2-3 weeks how it turns out. My son will be home about then, and there's something about a root beer float... Then we'll likely get into some other beer, but that's another story. The kit made about 18 litres. Quite easy, 4.5 lbs sugar, 17 litres of water, the root beer mix and some wine yeast.

Happy anniversary Jon, and happy belated JR.
I've been at the cabin a couple days now. Enjoyed Canada day yesterday, been doing some fishing and yard work.

Looks real good there Nate! Keep the 'new' sod watered well, and it should take. Quite a little upgrade in curb appeal.
And I'll always take help eagerly as well. Lol. That is if you'll work for beer. ::)

Throughout the week we spent the afternoon on the range. I've walked past this sign too many times to count, and actually read it on Thursday. We had a good laugh.

This week have been doing the work up for today. Our CO has moved on and we had our change of command parade for him. I was honoured to be selected to present him with he CO's Penant from the unit. Quite a humbling moment to be selected from the 50 odd of us here. Also feeling blessed about the 'gang' on the site as well. The view from lighthouse mess. City of Victoria on the left, and Washington on the right.

I've been running the Coleman extreme's with fairly good luck. I have three different ones, and all will make 4-7 days, but not as hot as you, more high 80's to mid 90's. It always depends on what is in them and how often opened. One summer, had 6 dozen lobster in one, shelled packed and frozen. Drove from east coast home, 7 or 8 days and it was all still solid once home. But it was not opened the whole time other than a frost check on day five. The 7 day one is better than the 6 and 5, like one would thing should be he case, even though they appear to be the same there must be a difference somewhere in the foam.

Here's my ideas: 2. A sign written in haji script saying, "Isis fighters, Martyr yourselves here" ^^^ That's my fav so far!
you couldn't PAY me to desecrate anything I own with that chicken scratch garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes definitely a good point. P-40 is my favourite in this case.

"But what about the safety chain guard!" Says some liberal who isn't a Darwinism fan...
That will sure wreak havoc on something! Hopefully the blades are up to the task they now face. I'd hazard this may be a tiny bit out of the scope of the engineers vision for this brush hog. I'm thinking it will be way mo-better at mowing down the saplings now.

We haven't made the switch yet. When I went for the trials in October they see saying 2017, and most recently they are still saying the same. Prior to our new libtard in charge we were going to be gifted them if we could legally purchase firearms. Time will tell now with our new government.

So I picked up the new safe from Cabelas. Good thing I too the unnecessary stuff out. Will be a couple weeks before install. I'm off to HH6's parents for a 50th anniversary party and an early 75th for her pops. After these festivities off to BC for a change of command ceremony and week of shooting.

That is cool! And so is what's in it too! Oh yeah, got sidetracked by the Gentleman there. Drove back out today. Hasn't rained much and the road is firmer. Not better though. Was happy to see the addition of some rock to the muck holes. Yes it's 2", but as aweful as it is, it will help firm things up some.

Chief, are you braiding back the cable loops or just the loop and the crimp. I've found over the years the plain loop with the crimp slips.
If you don't know how it's dirt simple. And if you do this would be for those who don't.
Unwind three of the strands off the cable until you have enough on each to make the size of loop you want plus a bit for a crimp or clamp. Form the loop with the main cable back on itself, and rewind the three loose strands back on from the opposite side of the loop. May take a couple attempts to get the 'lay' right. You end up with a very minimized net strength loss, but more importantly it won't slip.
And another wicked looking set of clouds.
Yes, Samual, I have done it hammer n' crimp style.
It's OK my friend, I'm sure I will destroy those on a recurring basis.
The cable stays I am using will never have the lifespan to start working.
My best guess is a sneaky white oak branch that hooks one while I'm looking the other way. 66HP + 4WD + Low-Low gears will more than likely overcome a 1/8" cable rather easily.
But I can hope!
Fact of the matter you're likely better off this way now that I remember you operating style... Slippage may save headaches, possibly literally!

Good info Bear. I had not considered clear, but may now just for cleaning purposes. So having heard what you used, I'm hopeful that I'll have enough to do both with the one kit. No tubes, just a lot of surface area. My supplier gave me the kit for 166, which was far better than anywhere else I found it. Stupid weak dollar, and price gouging on the most part. I'd seen them over 300 at some places, and was like NO!
You will be fine with 1 kit for front and rear. There is almost as much surface material on that tubing as there is on the actual bumper and there is a lot of waste. I would advice you to prime the back really well, making sure you get into all the nooks and pockets you might have from any framing members/ gussets. That way you don't need to waste a bunch of the liner product trying to cover those areas. Using all 4 bottles I basically have 3-1/2 coats on all of the bumper including the tubing.
The back actually already has a coat of liner on it. Ran short of multiple coats, brushed into the corners etc so should have a good base as long as it sticks. The front is going to be a complete strip and start over, as the rocks and salt did a number on the paint.

On the 5...they are standard capacity mags 'pinned' to 5 rounds with a three cent pop rivet. I do t think I need say any more...
Charles you may be right about the need for such an establishment. But my 12 gauge is always loaded, always... Been left for months on end like that too, and has never fired a round let alone hurt anyone. But we all know that it's the guns that kill...

« on: June 14, 2016, 02:43:33 PM »
Yes we can have our black guns.
Err, "assault rifles" I believe 'they' are trying to make them out to be.
Very restricted in their use however. The government classes them as restricted weapons. So, once you have an ATT (authorization to transport) you can take it to your range that is certified for target practice, or to a gunsmith for work, basically. Same for the handguns.
Then we have out ludicrous magazine restrictions of 5 whole rounds for these assault rifles, and 10 whole rounds for handguns.
Yeah stupid, and yet my guns have never hurt anyone either.

It's definitely hard on equipment. It's not always this bad either, but spring is always the worst.
This is part of the reason I've stuck with OEM wheels and not lifted. These trucks seem to really beat out the front ends with anything else. Case in point, I'm approaching 220k miles and am in need of front end repair #2. I know of guys that can't get 50k out of front ends with different wheels and lifts etc.
Having said all this, it also causes a guy like me to stay on top of everything as well. Just can't wait for it to dry up some, and then at least the two foot deep wheel ruts and holes will hopefully disappear.

A few more... This was about the condition of most of the first 100 odd miles. The it was better, albeit not a lot when you can set the bar this low. They are working on it though, and 15 miles was like this... Now if they could only make the rest the same!

So while I was coming home last week snapped a few pics of the 'road' I travel. It is our only way in and out of the place I call home by vehicle. With a few large hydroelectric projects on the go, heavy truck traffic has increased exponentially. As our only road, there are no load restrictions in the spring thaw which just aggrevates a poor road. This isn't even as bad as it has been. This was after a few days of sun and no rain.

Pulled the trigger on a Liberty 24 gun safe. HH6 says I need a safe at the cabin for the resident arms, I tend to agree. So I'll be relocating a 12 gun to the cabin once the new one is home.
Have been enjoying our first beautiful day at the cabin as well. Mowed the lawn and provided the turf with some rotational landscaping while I was at it. Got to flatten the yard out somehow... Presently sitting in boat trying to catch a few walleye, but likely will just enjoy the beer, as I'm likely a couple weeks early for them to be here yet.
My lighting orders are starting to show up, so will be affixing the rear bumper lights in the next few days.

That's the line I was thinking about going up to. I don't want to go two tone, hence try the tinted variety.
Shawn, I went to an auto body supplier, by chance the sold raptor. I was going to get whatever they had, and was very pleased it was this. Not all sell to public, as I found out as well, but these guys did, Chase Autobody Supply not sure how global they are. I did find a couple places on Amazon that carried it, but at over $300 a kit... :o

A note of caution on the solenoid you are using. Make sure that it is a 100% duty cycle unit. Not all are, and not sure how you could tell if you don't have the info. It looks new, so you may. A buddy has dual winches on his quad, and until he had the 100% units they would get real hot and burn out. Just an FYI so you do t run into problems later.

So new poll up. Thoughts on blacking out the whole front end. I have a 4 quart raptor liner kit to do the bumpers and expect to have some left. For a refresh on how it is... I'm willing to do all of the front I think... What's everybody think?

Found out the bedliner I have started my bumper with is no longer available.
So picked up a Raptor liner kit, and will proceed with it one time allows. Any thoughts from those who have used it if I need to strip the over off?
