My shop along i25 barely had a dusting today, eastern Colorado is getting hammered I hear. Wyoming yesterday on 25 south all the emergency signs were broadcasting a blizzard and to change travel plans from this morning at 4am until Thursday 11pm and if it’s that bad it will take them a solid day after to open it up. Thankfully I have a ton of work ahead of me in the shop….

So I’ve been so busy I’ve forgot to take any pics along the way.
I know I’m fired.

The Christmas party was a hit.
The meat and rest of the meal was 100% awesome.
My smoker did 65 pounds of butt like a champ and followed with 36 racks.

Leftovers were abundant as I had meat for 120 real men and about 75 people showed up. So that was a bonus at work Monday. Lol.

Boat is progressing and I’ll get pics when I’m back at it. Tonight is pretzel buns for our staff pot luck tomorrow. The sign up sheet came with my name and pretzel buns. I laughed a lot and here we are. Lol.

Tomorrow is bevies with our management team, so hopefully Thursday night is vacuum wash and rinse for boat. Dry out for the weekend and pour foam Monday and Tuesday.

Trying to put bacon away and the big fancy LEM max vac 500 don't want to suck. So I had to dig out my trusty 10 year old game saver sport to save the day. It only overheated 3 times. I'm not use that smaller one anymore trying to go too fast and it don't like it.

I've heard of tornados but nothing here so far. Just damp and rainy and like 45F.
Good day to drive to the gun store and buy my grandson his first rifle!

Back at the boat burning the midnight oil last night.

Repairs all made. Time to start the reassembly process.
First up. Foam.

Two part pour foam. Simple equal parts. Mix 30 seconds and when it starts expanding pour…

So as this started expanding out of the cup I raced to pour it into one of the floor voids.
Note to self. Don’t wait that long.

It expands a lot.

Was messy but not terrible. I was prepared for much worse. I’ll trim to height tonight and maybe get the floor started if I feel highly enough motivated…

messy is right. if you have ever ordered anything of weight from me, you might remember the shaped foam packaging. same stuff as what you've got there sam, but in 55 gal drums that we squirt into bags and quickly place in the boxes before it sets up. sometimes, we have a little fun and toss them around , but if they bust open... i have two hoodies now that look like a giant seagull had a bad meal and flew over my head.

What the heck can you tow with that hitch!

6 sheets of 2 inch, wood, closing in something like I did. You got the better foam.

Woke up in the new place to 15" of snow overnight and another 6" since then. finally stopped snowing around 1:30pm and is a balmy 12*F. for those of you who didn't know, the only real pleasant thing about southern OR was the house and the golf course, so we are back in WA up in a little town called Birch Bay. a little further back from the water's edge this time, but only about 3 min, and elevated, so no more floods, lol.

officially took possession Sunday. you can't really tell w/ all the white stuff, but it's an old golf course they let go to a nature reserve behind us. new course down the street. Steelhead and salmon stream through the property as well so checked off all my boxes. The Acadia does very well in the snow, but doesn't have much for ground clearance. since it's paid off i might find her another Yukon this time.

Winner!

Just need to finish taping. Ran out of sunlight.

And that hitch is forged and rated at 7500 which is plenty for my utility trailer which is what I tow most often. It’s the perfect height for that low trailer. I have a heavier one for taller trailers. And it works wonders on tail gaters.

Congrats on the move Tate!

That will work TRN. Any heat at all should keep it nice in there.

Just funning with the hitch, I normally keep mine on too.

Story was funny, he screwed up but tried shifting all the blame (not that I ever dealt with that before)

Nate’s shared that one before. If you dig deeper into his page that guy is a lib tard of epic proportions, and that was no 8mph collision despite what he said. It had to be at least double that. He should be grateful that the accident gave him a chance to buy a Prius

Tex,

I used that 150 formula-board 3M stuff around the skirt of my camper for years, so I can weigh in on some after-action comments

Overall, it lasted and held up pretty well. The camper took multiple impacts from airborne flying things like branches from severe weather. I noticed that the board would crack along a line rather than yield with a simple hole...Go figure!

Second thing is that that exact tape did not always stay affixed to the panel. It will release over the next couple years.

Finally, the board is not UV tolerant. It will gradually degrade. I think I must have had mine exposed to direct southern sun for what 8 years...and it changed colors, fading and yielded a few millimeters of material that could be easily rubbed away with your hand

FYI

Daughter calls and said her car stopped running. Abot 2-3 minutes away so I beat feet as she is right by the Nut Treet outlets (Christmas time). She got it mostly out of the way, so my youngest and I push it into a lot.

Run her back to work, get it towed home (AAA).  (2001 Camry, Grandma hand me down) Find it is about 4 quarts low on oil and had been dripping some. Did the timing belt 4 years ago and knew the seal on the pump was going to go but did what I could to bandage it up.

Napa has the stuff in stock, under $10. Tomorrow I get to pull the timing belt to access the pump. Wish it was more than 40f outside but it is what it is and not raining at least.

no no you did the math wrong, this is twice in 2 years! yeah, I just need the water in my life, and the "family" we were moving to be closer to are spiraling, and I would rather Sophie remember them fondly. we hit weather like you for the better part of a week, 117 in Ashland was the cap. triple digits for more than 2 3rds of the summer and the smoke from CA that would never leave, plus the constant fire evacuation threats made an easy case when i pointed out how much income we lost last year through the state income tax alone, and WA capital gains tax laws are in my favor for the early move.

waste of time and resources, yes

worth the trip, also yes.

if we hadn't done all these moves we would never have been able to afford to trade up like we have and now have a realistic home near the water that won't flood out or burn down on a yearly basis.

I remember driving through there when it was like 120 in Ca a few back, thought we would get a break from the heat, no way!

Jon, looks pre fabricated but yep, to close to holidays now.

Engine still runs OK, think it kinda shutdown on her. It would run and we drove it onto the tow rig, then then into the driveway. Sounds about the same after filling with oil, running full thynsetic wally oil.

Here it comes! Temps just fell off a cliff!

An hour ago, we were in the '40s. It is nearing 30 on its way to -F temps in four hours. Some wind blew in and just like that, there was snow everywhere. I'm not sure if I'm going to enjoy this super cold below zero white Christmas!

Nevertheless, here goes!

Bahahaha!
But really feel for y’all. No really I do.
You’re neither ready or physically adapted to the super cold schiff.

I’m down with mama. She got rid of her boot today!
Oh it’s only -10 or so and seems quite nice…sorry.
Shawn, -40 sucks. I feel your family’s pain.
I’m not a -40 fan, -30 kinda my limit for ok. For me anyway.
Everyone here in “winterpeg” as they call themselves complaining about the cold.
I call them Whine-i-peggers…
All they talk about is the wind chill.
Clearly never snowmobiled at -40 and 40-60mph.

Enjoy the white Christmas if it’s not normal for ya.
And stay warm everyone.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

My daughter has -30 today, she’s up near the canadian Rockies, but in two days they will have highs in the 20s-30s again.

Single digit negatives aren’t bad, as long as you can dress for it.

Fortunately or unfortunately however you want to look at it I dealt with nasty cold winters for 37 years in NE Indiana so at least I have “experience” and am not entirely out of my element so to speak.

Well it’s currently 10 here. I don’t mind -10 or so as long as the wind isn’t blowing.  Once the wind kicks up I’m miserable. We’ve had sustained 15mph with 25 gusts.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Funny story
I focused so much on getting everyone back home in the chock blocks that I did not prep my truck. I had a barber shop appointment early so that I'd be pretty for the inevitable Christmas photos.
I knew I'd have to scrape off a little ice. I did not think I'd have to melt the truck out of an iceberg! First thing was that despite running the thing via remote start, it was still very cold. And the door was frozen shut!
So I drew a bucket of hot water and threw it up onto the very tall door frame and about a third of that splashed right back all over me!
But
It did the trick and I was able to get into the truck. Seems like I stayed in there an eternity trying to free the other doors or get a window to wind down. None of that worked. When I tried to exit the vehicle to get my wallet, I discovered the door had refrozen capturing me inside!
Ya, I couldn't get out of the thing.
OK, well, maybe driving it around would warm things up, so I drove down the country lane I live on and onto the main road. No other vehicles were in sight, none. I had to push through drifts about three feet deep, but I made it.
When I got back to the house, I managed to shove open the door, but I think I may have broken something.
I never made it to the barber shop, well, until later...
We are not used to this in this part of the Tuck.

Guess a new to me car is on the Christmas list.

No injuries. Both front air bags deployed.   Other vehicle was a 2010 or so Chevy 2500HD Silverado.  Only half mile from home when it happened.
