What an awesome God, to allow all these things to happen while man continues to reject him and still be there with open arms.

What’s the trailer for? Reason I’m asking is a lot of people just pack the stuff into a storage unit for the summer. Daughters first year go well?

With that 16' trailer I need to ask if we are related on my wife's side. We need that trailer for a week trip.

Well that’s a 20 ft trailer….more redneck.

I’m bringing her car home on the trailer.  She’s not been good about phoning home so I don’t get a lot of time talking with her.  This way I get 13 hours of windshield time with her.

Shawn, I looked at storage but it would be cheaper to throw all her stuff out and start over rather than put her stuff in storage for 3 months I think.

Dave, you’re right, I probably should take the Bus one time when the wife’s not going with me.  I could get there on one fuel.

However I’m getting soft and the super cruise self driving on the Denali is pretty hard to beat.

Actually yesterday. 1938 Pontiac chassis, 1955 Pontiac V8, Tremec TKZ 5-speed. Need to fabricate power train mounting that will pass through the X frame. OEM engine mounts are at the front of the engine and the bellhousing. It’s a challenge for sure.

Packed up the oldest and moved her out of the dorm. Got her car on the trailer and ready to roll. Grabbed some pizza at the local joint.

Lol Dave.  That’s the rental I’m staying in.  Nice little neighborhood. Will rent it again for sure. It’s close to campus and close to where her apartment will be next year.  And it’s a few blocks from one of the best restaurants and cigar bars.

If my youngest goes to Mizzou I’ll probably buy a house here for them to stay in and see if I can charge some rent from a roommate as well.

Oh and the finger is just sprained.  She wanted to run to the urgent care center when it happened. I told her if it was still pointed in the same direction and she could move it that it wasn’t broken.

She insisted on going to Walgreens for the brace instead of using the tongue depressors and Med tape that I had in her Med kit in her foot lockers. She completely forgot about the go bag and Med kit.

I got some new foe work boots today!! Love these Georgia boots. Cheap considering, two years from my last pair and honestly they look like real boots as long as you have pants on.
Make it nice to bang gears in the truck and easy to slip off after the work day

Proud dad moment

Emmett guided me into the back yard with the 44’ in one shot

Max backed me up the the cargo trailer and dropped the hitch onto the ball on his own.  I helped chain it up and plug it in of course

I was very proud of my boys when they learned to hook up a trailer. Even more so when they learned how to back the garden trailer in the shed with the mower. Just please please do not let them in-between the trailer and truck when you are backing. It's probably an automatic and you have your foot on the brake but I have been pinned  against a trailer before. That is a very dangerous place to be.

Got back to Houston from Missouri today. Had a few goodies on the porch. These chocolates were made by the cofounder of the daily wire. He got mad at Hershey’s chocolates when they put a trans in their ad. I think the chocolate bars are self-explanatory. I had a few cigars delivered and did some organizing.

Got my son and nephew to help install my hitch. It's a weld on modified to bolt on. Removed the tow hook assembly. That had 1/2 bolts.  Had to ream the factory holes in the frame from up to 5/8. The bumper bracket holes are slotted so had to trim a little off with the plasma cutter. It's a 20k curt hitch.  I will never pull that much but I wanted it to be plenty big. It's the same one I put on the back of the freightliner. Next is the wiring and brake controller.

My son is actually using safety equipment and I didn't even have to tell him to. Needs new boots tho. Had some hot sparks in his shoe. He will learn.

Just going to haul the scouts to our farther away campouts and pull the scout trailer. We're going to South Dakota this summer.

I use it for personal use also. Today we loaded up a bunch of family and went to lunch for mother's Day

Right now I am going to leave it as is except for some paint. I want to break up the yellow.

https://www.hopefloatingrestaurant.com/

Made reservations and took the wife over to Hope Idaho (just past Ken’s Clark Fork area) to a floating restaurant for brunch. Great weather, great scenery, great atmosphere & food. Price was reasonable too for all the above.

I had steak and eggs, she had lobster / asparagus crepe’s with a mimosa

Seems like you'd qualify for the "Master Cigar" badge if there was such a thing...

Vivid memories of Cigar smoking at the end of the day in Kandahar after a hot day of flying. I'd gather the pilots around, mostly outside and they'd smoke one from Cuba, mostly, while I handed out the assignments for the following day's flying. That smell is engrained in my mind. I smelt it when I heard the whistling of that rocket that hit the barracks, the event that sent me home from war forever. Yea, Cigars...

Completely reworked the water supply at the ranch.

Wife broke the ears off the plastic valve (we turn the water off when we leave) so while I was replacing with a big brass valve I tied the guest house to the same valve instead of separate and added a local valve for the sprinkler backflow while keeping the pool on a separate valve.

Beautiful country Shawn.
Lots of fun Charles.

And I may have did a thing tonight.
All my panels and parts finally arrived.
More to come. But it will be a while.

Spring is finally upon us here.
Boat ready to go, dock ready to go, ice is likely gone.
Was out this morning and it was moving out.
Should be good to go now.
But, I’m in the middle of a mess in the driveway.
One side in one to go. And all the work still to come.

Had my 50th birthday yesterday.  Lots of family and friends showed up. My brother flew up from Florida and surprised everyone.  Wife made me brownies because I'm not too big on cake. Wife and adult kids all chipped in to buy me a Henry. 22 lever action with the large loup and octagon barrel. I have wanted one for a long time. We went on a hay rack ride and then had Mountain oysters and pork belly burnt ends for supper.

My wife and I are headed to Jasper Indiana with our travel trailer. 3rd day on the road taking I-84, I-80 and then drop down to I-70 around Denver. Spending the night in Evanston Wyoming tonight.
Surprising how many long term people are in the parks now. The good thing is the spots are kept clean, not at all like the street dwellers.

Happy birthday Jon!  Mountain oysters?  Is that like calf fries? Lol

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.
