Just watched a war documentary film,
Into the Hornet's Nest
Two embedded reporters, a father and a son
Man, what a trip down memory lane!
One mission with the Army in the Kunar Provence. I recognized the roads...Somewhere near FOB Cobra I'm thinking. Flew missions in and around there a time or two
Second mission with the Marines in the Helmand valley. Flew down there so many times, the pepes there probably think I'm the mayor!
Before the Marines showed there were only the Brits and one Special Forces "A" team which we supported many times
Last part was with the 101st north of J-Bad (Jalabad) in the hills. Flew missions up in there as well. He called that place the hornet's nest.
I can tell you all, he aptly named it. Was up there snaking around one day and caught some guys on a ridge line hiding under the trees. They wouldn't fire at me, so I legally couldn't shoot back. Had two Dillions and 9,000 rounds. We had taken a beating there the week before and we were out for blood, but I guess the T-ban had had enough.
Amazing how a film can bring back memories like that
Just airing here, no real discussion, just sharing...
